2012 Official NBA Draft Discussion Thread
Newman replied to Warren2ThaG's topic in NBA Draft History
I am not unhappy with Teague because he is definitely an upgrade over Lucas and Watson...but I wish we had taken Doron Lamb or Will Barton, especially if we aren't keeping Brewer and/or Korver. -

Apparently Heat are trading Moultrie to 76ers for a future first and the 45th pick this year. -

I like Denver picking Fournier. He can be a great scorer and they are packed at every other position anyway. -
I look forward to seeing him chuck a few 3-pointers in game 7 then.

Where Does Atlanta Go From Here?
Newman replied to Built Ford Tough's topic in Atlanta Hawks Team Forum
They should have traded Josh Smith this season, when his stock was at its highest. If they can combine his contract with Marvin Williams or Zaza Pachulia's contract they might be able to get a few nice players back in return. -
James Harden Wins Sixth Man of Year

Well deserved. Arguably the player with the highest basketball IQ in OKC. -
^ Isn't that always the case?

Looking forward to next season.

I can certify the reason for Scalabrine's DNP is legit.

Bulls going fishing early, which may not be a bad thing in the long run.

Well, Hawes shut me up on my prediction that he wouldn't score another 20 points. To those who want to amnesty Boozer, I agree, but only if he is replaced by someone who can REALLY score in the low post.

RD1 GM3: Chicago at Philadelphia
Newman replied to Real Deal's topic in Philadelphia 76ers Team Forum
Nothing official as far as I am aware, but he will probably miss at least the next two games. -
RD1 GM3: Chicago at Philadelphia
Newman replied to Real Deal's topic in Philadelphia 76ers Team Forum
Really, the only way for the Bulls to win right now is to slow the tempo down to a point where the 76ers must play the half-court game. They can't commit lots of turnovers (15 tonight against 8 by the 76ers) because Philly will just get two easy points off every steal. I still like our chances if the Bulls can do the two things I mentioned above. I doubt Spencer Hawes get another 21 points in Game 4. -
If you're the Lakers, and you go up 3-0...
Newman replied to Real Deal's topic in Los Angeles Lakers Team Forum
I would go for the win as well, MWP is so volatile that he just might hurt the Lakers' chances against OKC rather than increase it. -
RD1 GM3: Chicago at Philadelphia

But the offense is indeed atrocious without D-Rose. Our other point guards are John Lucas and C.J Watson for crying out loud. I hope Mirotic comes along next season, he seems to have a polished offensive game. -
Ryan Anderson wins Most Improved Player
Newman replied to Real Deal's topic in Orlando Magic Team Forum
I don't know about this. I think everyone knew Ryan Anderson was great at shooting 3's, his offensive rebounding ability was the thing that surprised me. I would have given it to Danny Green considering how he was cut by this Spurs team twice (?) but is now starting for them. -
RD1 GM3: Chicago at Philadelphia

As hard as Luol has worked all season, he just can't defend and carry us on offense in the same game, especially not when he is injured as well. For us to win this series, Boozer and Rip have to score 20 points each. -
This is actually a good series to watch. Big Baby is working his socks off to fill in Dwight's shoes. Pacers got a good team and they should be able to give the Heat a scare, especially with Hibbert and West. George Hill is playing well as well.

Klay Thompson's Potential
Newman replied to Built Ford Tough's topic in Golden State Warriors Team Forum
He is what some envisioned Jimmer to be. Klay and Alec Burks are two shooting guards I was really high on because they both have a really solid jumpshot , and that is hard to come by these days. I don't see him being a 20 PPG guy, but 17-18 PPG at his peak sounds reasonable. -
True, although most people also believed Chris Wallace was an idiot.
-
That as well. If Fish was still around he would have been starting purely because he is Derek Fisher. Pushing out Fisher and moving in Sessions gave the rest of the Lakers team the signal that if you are playing crap, you are gone.
-
Have to say this: Mitch Kupchak is a genius. Jordan Hill and Ramon Sessions together filled the Lakers' needs.
