I think that the Celtics, by signing Delonte and Shaq, sends a message to the other teams that they want to win, no matter what. They could have just used Jermaine and Big Baby at the C position until Perkins come back, but by signing Shaq, it shows that they are taking this season really seriously.

I believe he is a HOF. Dare I say, the HOF's requirement isn't that high and I believe his accomplishments, as listed above, already put him in consideration for the Hall of Fame.

Mentality had something to do with it. Previously, the young guys' expectations were just to get into the playoffs, that didn't change even when Big Ben came in. Then we started fading back into mediocrity again before getting Rose, and I think that 7-game series against the Celtics really raised expectations quite a bit. Now, with a coach who had been in a constantly winning team, I think that the mentality is going to change. I agree with your concerns though, but these are the worst case scenarios for all the players and I still expect them to finish 6 or 7th in the East.

I don't think the term 'role-player' should be used to describe side-kicks. To me, except for strong exceptions (Celtics with Fantastic Four, Lakers with their Malone-Payton-Kobe-Shaq), there are 2-3 main players in every team and everyone else can be called a role player.

Gordon is a nice player and his performance just a week ago only enhances that opinion, but Mayo is still a special talent, just waiting to break out. Definitely going for Mayo.
