  1. And THAT'S why we're the world champs. Let's build on this lead in the 4th, can't let the Thunder get anything going...
  2. I think this bit by Bill Cosby fits nicely with this thread. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=9MGYoCNU5es
  3. Durant is a better rebounder than Carmelo. Carmelo: 5.7 RPG during 1st round, 6.6 RPG during regular season Durant:: 9.3 RPG during 1st round, 7.6 RPG during regular season Durant's defense is improving as well, his length and athleticism make him a decent defender already. Passing wise, Durant does need to work on that...but since he has a score first mentality, that'll come eventually I think. As to the question, yes, I think it can. When Kobe scored 81 points he demonstrated that quite well (we would have lost, and quite badly at that, if he hadn't scored like he did).
  4. Worst game I've seen us play all year. No effort, no energy, no defense, no urgency, careless turnovers, careless shots, careless fouls...MISSED FREE THROWS. I mean, had we made our free throws in the first half we would of been right there either a couple points down, tied, or even the lead. That 3rd quarter was the most pathetic display of basketball I'd ever seen. Just terrible. I hope our guys have woken up now. It's business time fellas, stop dicking around.
  5. Well, if you give the Marines a tank then the British can have cannons and cavalry units. But yeah, of course if you give the Marines all of today's technology to use they would win. In debates like this you need to make the two side as equal as possible starting it.

  7. Let's say that both armies are in a wide open field, spread equally apart. There might be a few things here and there to offer some protection, but not much. If the British troops made a wide formation, enough to have several thousand of them fire at once, I don't think the Marines would win. Sure, they would take out a lot of the British, but let's be honest, you're not going to be able to shoot and protect yourself at the same time. The volley of rounds the British can unleash at once would keep the Marines mostly pinned down, and yes even though their muskets aren't terribly accurate, there's still a good chance of a round hitting you. The British also had rifle men, and rifles were much, much more accurate than the muskets. Almost like early sniper rifles. The British would be able to keep advancing on to the Marines with just the sheer number of men and rounds they can fire at once. Eventually they would overwhelm the Marines with just their numbers. 112,000 troops is A LOT. You're not going to be able to mow them down all at once. Even though the technology heavily favors the Marines, the British would win with their sheer size.
  8. Snake and Kingfish, if I see anymore personal attacks/trolling/baiting, both you will be suspended until the NBA Draft. Don't question it, don't try to argue it, just stop it.
  9. Fisher always misses those shots. He comes barreling into the paint and chucks up a shot that has no chance of going in. I wouldn't mind having him back, but as long as he's coming off the bench.
  10. I really want to root for the Thunder, but alas I can not... Besides the Lakers, it's no one else. If the Thunder were out East or if the Lakers lose this series (lololol) I'd root for them.
  11. Man, Jack can never catch a break. He's probably going to lose it... Something's up with Logan, you know he's not doing this for the good of the country. This season has been so good, I can't believe this will be the last one. Only 6 hours left!
  12. Nice grading, I agree with most of it. I'd probably give the Lakers a B-/C+ instead of a C, though. Even with the problems they've had, they managed to lock up the first seed out West once again. Not an easy task.
  13. Sasha was playing pretty well, and then he goes and twists his ankle. Figures. He's done for the night, had to be carried off the court. Adding insult to injury, we're losing to the Clippers. Whoo. Can't wait for it to be Sunday.
  14. Yeah, I don't understand his point either. Why is it such a big deal to have this restriction? There's plenty of people out there that grow up in a certain religion, then either denounce it later or follow a different religion. You also have to take in the cultural ramifications here. Do you know what kind outrage there would be if you told a Islamic, or Jewish family that they can't label their children a Muslim or a Jew? What about Catholics who baptize their babies, believing if they don't that their child will go to hell? I can see where you're coming from an ideal standpoint, but it just wouldn't work. One ideal doesn't fit everyone.
  15. I had a whole reply typed out and I accidentally closed the tab. Damn it. Anyways, there's a couple of problems with your idea Poe. First off, it would go against the Bill of Rights. The First Amendment says: "Congress shall make no law respecting an establishment of religion, or prohibiting the free exercise thereof; or abridging the freedom of speech, or of the press; or the right of the people peaceably to assemble, and to petition the Government for a redress of grievances." The "free exercise thereof" would include parents teaching their children about it, and the children making the decision to practice it. No way you can put a ban on that. When I was growing up, I was taught about various religions in the world. I even took a class on it in high school. Just because you're learning about another religion, doesn't make you a follower of it. Also, the idea that children should wait until their older to label themselves as something is ridiculous. When I was 5/6 years old, I was certainly old enough to decide to become a Christian. If I was old enough to obey and disobey my parents, I was sure old enough to make the decision to become a Christian.
  16. Even with the missed free-throws by Kobe, we should have won that. Fisher missed one of his, and then committed the STUPID foul at the end to seal it. Frustrating to say the least. Kobe didn't have the lift in his legs today either. We just need to rest him until the playoffs start...about the only thing we can do at this point.
  17. What a terrible, terrible tragedy. I can't even fathom what the entire country is going through right now. Just seems so surreal. I can't help but wonder how this will affect my missions trip over there this summer. Poland is hurting, I just hope that we'll be able to help, somehow.
  18. During practices this week, the training stuff mentioned that Kobe had "dead legs". So either the knee or ankle was bothering him, and he needed some rest. I just turned the game on, good to see us blowing them out (kind of).
  19. We deserve to lose because Kobe's hurting and needs the rest? Wow. This is a good test for us tonight. Playing on the road in a tough, playoff-like atmosphere without Kobe (and Bynum). Hopefully this will give our bench some confidence as they will have quite a bit more minutes to play tonight.
  20. Kobe is the kind of guy that can get four hours of sleep, and be totally energized. Having a couple of weeks off before he plays in World's Championship is more than enough rest for him.
  21. This. Yeah, Beyonce looks good, but Carrie looks amazing. She gets my vote, easy.
  22. Posting an old SLAM article of LeBron and Telfair, and then saying this: What was the point of posting that? It may have been funny to you, but it was rather pointless (devoid of any discussion value) and it felt like you were trying to get a rise out of Cavs fans. The thread wasn't insulting to LeBron, it was insulting to the Cavalier fanbase.
  23. Your thread was closed because it was baiting, not because "you were personally attacked". And to Slaven's defense, how was his post a personal attack? He called the thread dumb, not you. There's a difference.
