  1. Randolph's TS% on the T-Wolves is below 50% and he has the second highest usage rate. He's using a lot of possessions and he's using them inefficiently.
  2. I think he has an above-average crossover and a real good upper body that should help him score at the next level, but his speed and athletic indicators all looked overblown against Florida's athletes. He also doesn't look as comfortable without the ball as, say Redick looked the few times I watched him in college. I'd be surprised if Fredette were more than ordinary as an NBA player.
  3. ...and Jimmer misses a 35-footer. Simple ball-screen-and-kick offense. No need for a robotic flex. Good offense. Good spacing. Playmakers get to use their speed. Shooters are behind the arc. Cutters on the baseline. Simple, smart offense.
  4. They're really quick and they have moxie. Florida's spacing allows them to use their quickness to their advantage too.
  5. Fredette's been beaten off the dribble all game long too. And he just stands and reaches in. This guy is going to get abused at the next level.
  6. Can somebody get Steve Javie to ref this game? These refs are a disaster. How can people really criticize NBA refs?
  7. I think the play was designed for him to use that double screen they presented for him. He read the defense and decided to not use, but he's not quick enough to get to the rim. That's a big minus from NBA scouts watching this game.
  8. Billy D also gets his players to understand help defense. Their rotations have been pretty sharp all game.
  9. As a Gators fan, I'm not a fan of facing BYU in overtime
  10. Billy D could probably succeed in the NBA. There's nothing wasted with his offense. He's not a system guy. He gets good spacing and his players make decent decisions for the college game. He also gives his players some flexibility which college coaches usually don't.
  11. The refs and Jimmer are both idiots. How many pull-up 30-footers can somebody take? Is his idol Vince Carter??? Don't they have coaches at BYU?
  12. I hate the college game so much. So many missed layups, the refs are AWFUL. Chandler Parsons just slammed a guy to the floor and didn't draw a foul. Jimmer Freddette spent an entire possession complaining to the refs while his man ended up with a wide open three. In the NBA he'd be crucified. In the college game, he's praised for his basketball IQ. The Gators run a nice little NBA-style offense but BYU settles for too many quick threes. Awful, awful basketball.
  13. It's also nice to see that Reggie Miller is as big an idiot in the college game as he is as an NBA announcer, wanting BYU to go man-to-man thinking it helps them more. Of course the Gators use their bigs and get a couple of close layups as BYU can't guard Florida man to man.
  14. Jimmer Fredette takes more bad shots than Allen Iverson. Why do these college guys rave about his basketball IQ?
  15. You know...the Grizzlies have been playing just fine without him.
  16. From three, Fisher's shooting 39.9%. Artest is shooting 36%. Good and respectable. Kobe is shooting 33% from three. With the 2-6 shooting, Kobe does have the ability to make his teammates better, and shots do even out. He constantly makesscoring harder than it needs to be.
  17. The NBA has media timeouts at the first dead ball after the 6 minute mark of the 1st/3rd quarters, the 3rd minute mark of the 1st/3rd, the 9 minute mark of the 2/4, 6 minute of the 2/4, and 3 minute of the 2/4. The thing is that if a coach of a certain team calls a timeout, those media timeouts are waved. The only time where the situation above arises is in the last two minutes of games, or if there is a long stretch of basketball that prevents the media timeout for a couple of minutes. This leads itself to 10-12 commercial pods during a 2.5 hour game, not including halftime. Contrast this with baseball which has 16 or 17 and usually runs a similar length to a basketball game. I've never been disrupted by the flow of an NBA game, only a college game where coaches have four timeouts a half and if they take one, it doesn't invalidate the media timeout. So you will very often have Coach Timeout, stoppage of play on same possession after 20 seconds, Media Timeout, Free Throws. Edit: I should have said "not including halftime" above.
  18. Didn't Kobe's teammates prove their worth by winning a title last year? I'd like you to tell Derek Fisher that he's scared to make dumb plays because the light will shine brightly on him. Artest's huge 4th quarter of Game Seven was as big a proponent to the Lakers winning a Championship last year as anything. Not passing the ball to open teammates is bad basketball, no excuses.
  19. And by the way, Coach Nick destroys Vince Carter and talks about the key moments during Suns-Lakers. Check it out!
  20. But he didn't play good basketball down the stretch and there's this assumption A) that Kobe is superman, B) that because Kobe is the best player in the game excuses him from playing bad basketball. Abbott's point isn't made in isolation, it's been a bone he's been picking with Kobe for the past at least six months or so mostly about the assumption that Kobe is infallible in the clutch. He's not. He has failed his team at times by getting beat by good defense, and he's failed his team at times by ignoring the offense and dragging it down. Coach Nick just broke down the Suns-Lakers game and it showed Kobe make a whale of bad offensive plays. And again with the assumption that Kobe is a god in the clutch, he did shoot 4-15 down the stretch and it's largely ignored and laughed off by fans like Confidence. Abbott's right. That isn't good enough. The free pass isn't good enough. Does that mean that I don't have Kobe on my supershort list of players I want with the ball in their hands down? Of course not. But I'm willing to look at the evidence and examine some factors, something too many people ignore. Because I could just reply to Confidence with something like "Kobe just shot 4-15 during the clutch yet he's the game's best closer LOL" and nothing comes out of it. AboveLegit took a more critical approach and tried to negotiate Kobe down the stretch with what he did for the entire game, past Kobe games (vintage Kobe reference), some good plays Kobe made, and the expectation he has for Kobe. It's a much more mature post and you can take more out of that.
  21. lol, I mean they might have...but you don't know. All you have is a tiny one-game sample. Which of course is exciting and terrific, but does it really prove which team is the best?
