  1. Id say Kobe has been on a team with more players capable of scoring for most of his career, right now he is simply loaded with capable scorers.
  2. You're in luck. I just got off the phone with the Clippers and Memphis front offices and we have all decided on a three way trade to bring in Blake Griffen, OJ Mayo and Mark Gasol to the Thunder. I am writing up the legal papers right now and i will submit it in about an hour. Expect to see it on ESPN.Com, i have already leaked the info, keep checking the page every 5 minutes for a full update.
  3. I contest this. Artest has a career PPG of 15.8 with his highest year at 20 and his lowest at 12, anyone who averages 15 a game for their career should be considered a scorer. Artest has always been quiet about scoring, not flashy, not going up for the flash dunk or lay up. Rather a turn around hook, backing his man down and just tossing the ball in the hoop, he has done a great job adjusting to his foot problems and continues to be an effective scorer. His percentages are nothing bad either, 42% career, high 50%, low 40. Artests offensive game is really that of a PFs, he loves to post up with a turn around lay in and he is highly effective at it. To answer the original question... yes he can create his own shot and he can do it effectively. A lot of people think he has slowed down some but i do not think he has, rather he has way more offensive weapons on his team now (2 seasons ago 20ppg, last season 17). I think he could continue to do what he did in his final year with Sac and his year with the Rockets if he was put in that position.
  4. Salmons could actually. See, He is a damn good SF but not a good SG. Last season Deng was out for most of the year and Salmons took over the 3 spot, which is when we saw him stack on almost 20 a game and when he was truly effective and i am sure that i am not the only one who noticed that (ala, front offices). I personally think they should keep Salmons at the 3 and get rid of Deng. Deng seems to have problems staying healthy, and he has not really lived up to the hype that a lot of people were giving him for such a long time. Salmons is a worthy replacement who signs for much less, fewer years and imo he is more offensively diverse.
  5. I have been saying for years now that Hinrich would be the perfect PG for the Lakers and under Phil Jacksons coaching strategies.
  6. Of course he is not going to get it. MVP is nothing more then a popularity contest. 07-08 Chris Paul should have gotten it over Kobe. 08-09 Chauncey Billups should have gotten it over LBJ. 09-10 Durant should get it over LBJ.
  7. "African American" is a terrible term and should never be used as it implies three things. 1. All black people are originally from Africa (and i am not talking about 400,000 years ago). 2. That all black people have ties to America. 3. All people of both descents are brown/black in skin color. http://www.allgigs.co.uk/images/object/artist/8763/Seal-1-250-188-85-nocrop.jpg NOT an African American. http://a8.img.v4.skyrock.com/a86/marc-antoineofficiel/pics/1692514414.jpg NOT African NOR American. http://perfectnika.files.wordpress.com/2008/04/dave-matthews1.jpg IS an African American. This term is not politically correct nor is it more respectable, how would a Haitian or Brazilian be respected by you assuming because of their skin color they are African AND American? They wouldn't. And i know personal experience is not a great debate or argument tool but in 28 years on this earth i have not met one single black person who prefers to be called "African American" and have found the only people who suggest it is a proper term are white people.
  8. No one else has been as impressive. Kobe is Kobe. We know he is a badass. But if you take him off that team and give them a quarter of a season to learn to play without him, then that team could still probably make the WCFs. LBJ is in a similar situation. His team probably wouldn't make the ECFs but they would be in the play-offs and could last until the second round. You take Durant off the Thunder and they are at 25% in the draft, not 3 games behind 3rd in the insanely rough West.
  9. He was a great fit with the Suns. He loved it there. Nash, Amare, Hill and Dantoni loved having him there. He was an x-factor for them, he is one of the few people in the league who can effectively slow down Kobe which is definitely needed.
  10. Dunno about that. OKC is 3 games behind 3rd place in the West and even if they get a lower seed he is still very much deserving of the title (Last season the 8th seed in the West had almost 50 wins). Well over Lebron and Kobe given his circumstances. Last season the Thunder were 23-59 and scheduled to be the 4th overall pick in the draft. In the off season they failed to add anyone significant, Harden is a wonderful player but right now he is nothing more then a questionable 10ppg mediocre defensive rookie. This season they are play-off bound with only 3 legitimate options on the team (one of them being Durant himself)and a bunch of okay players. This team should NOT be in the play-offs at all, but Durant's skill and leadership is turning the near impossible into possible. And whats more impressive is we see this guy getting better and better day after day, especially with his offensive abilities. Starting off in October at 25 PPG at 41% FG, 28% from the 3 November he hit 27.7 PPG December rose to 29.7 PPG and January climbed up to 32.1 PPG and ended up with 51% FG shooting and an astonishing 53% for 3 pointers. Typically players tend to drop off and level out as months go on. Not this guy. Kevin Durant = NBA MVP no question.
  11. MVPs are always given to a truly deserving player, the only problem is there are truly three or four MVPs a year so no matter who wins the title there will always be someone disagreeing. And to be honest, before Kobe got his MVP title i do not think he actually deserved one (seeing as how the first three rings were Shaqs). Kobe is the best Laker though. What is really scary is Kobe still has about 6 years of good to fantastic production left in him.
  12. Tampa. From Lawrence though. And have lived in Craphattan. I would actually like to see us lose the big 12 this year, or at least get a shared title (win conference record, lose game) that way we have a better chance of winning the 6 games afterword.
  13. Yea. Typically i do not consider KSU a must win. Rivalry, anything can happen but whatever. Everyone knows that KU is light years ahead of KSuck so in the long run a regular season game does not matter. However this year they were ranked 12th, so yea, must win if not to just put them in their place.
  14. I definitely understand that 5 assists is a lot, and i am a huge fan of PGs who get high numbers of assists, but leadership is what makes a pg a champion. I am not arguing about the All-Star selection, i think he should be on it but i understand it is nothing more then a penis measuring contest between fans. But the comments that i made that they are referring to is "Billups is THE best PG in the NBA", which was my argument for him not even being in the all star game.
  15. My bad, i thought when i said "His past achievements are a testament to his leadership and ability today" that would clear up why i mentioned them. I guess not, that must have flown way over your head. Denver is second in the West led by Billups and will most likely be in the conf finals. Utah is 4th and can easily be dropped down to 8th on a day where we see 9 games scheduled. Chances are they will get knocked out in the first again anyway. Hornets might not even make the play offs (or if they do make a low seed they can lose 1-4 to Billups in the first round again) Is that better reasoning? oh wait.... CP3 puts up good numbers right? I mean clearly the 5 assists and 1 point extra a game that CP is getting over Billups is helping lead his team to a conference finals like Billups' leadership. *Waits for excuses as to why Hornets are not in the play off hunt right now* I cant wait for advanced statistics to be perfected so that people will stop hanging on to 3 basic stats to measure player quality.
  16. His past achievements are a testament to his leadership and ability today and to show what a consistent leader he has always been and will continue to be. He is the best point in the game because he is a truly unique leader. And i will say that about any position. You find me a SG, SF, PF, C who can put up around 20 a game, plays defense and gets his entire team ready mentally, physically, statistically and unites a team full of different personalities night after night and i will call that player the best player at that position. True leaders of Billups' caliber are very hard to come by and should be rewarded and honored WAY more then someone whose career or year accomplishments extend to "good numbers". Billups is not helping Denver be a second seed in the West, he is the absolute reason they are a second seed in the West.
  17. ........ Nice. Nice response. Who is better? Chris Paul? Deron Williams? How about this... What have CP3 and D-Will done in their careers outside of "put up good numbers" to compete with Billups? Why should either of these guys be considered better then Billups, a man who took a questionable 8-10 seed to a western contender, a man who led the Pistons to a title, three NBA finals and five straight conference finals with a return to conference finals in 08 with the Nuggets. Billups is the definition of what a leader is and should be, sadly enough people would rather look at overly simplistic numbers thus making it so Billups does not get the credit he deserves.
  18. The way i feel about how All-Stars should be selected is the uniqueness the player brings to the table. How many other players can accomplish what the selected player does on any given day? Which is my reasoning for selecting Billups. I do not care if Williams or Paul puts up better numbers then him, because that is all they do slightly better, this man (Billups) is not only the best PG in the league but the epitome of what a PG should be and deserves to be not just on the team, but a starter.
  19. Atlanta - JJ Boston - Ray Allen Charlotte - Jackson Chicago - Hinrich Cleveland - LBJ Dallas - Dirk Denver - Billups Detroit - Ripp Golden State - Ellis Houston - Landry Indiana - Granger? LA Lakers - Fisher LA Clippers - Davis Memphis - Mayo Miami - Wade Milwaukee - Stackhouse Minnesota - Flynn New Jersey - The Towel Boy New Orleans - Peja New York - Harrington Okla City - Durant Orlando - Shard Philadelphia - AI2 Phoenix - Nash Portland - Roy Sacramento - Evans San Antonio - Parker Toronto - Turk Utah - Brewer Washington - Arenas always take the shot.
  20. Yea know, about ten years ago i had little problems with KSU but as of the past few years they have been pissing me off more and more. Just for that video im going to predict a score of.... KU - 89 Ksuck - PowerTowel
  21. Legend. The thing i like about him is he has actually done it all. He has been the best QB in the league and the worst, he has had record number touch downs and record number interceptions. He has won the Superbowl and he has had terrible seasons where he did not even come close to making the play offs. Add this to the fact that he is multi-generational, something not often seen in many athletes, and you have one of the most legendary players to play the game.
  22. only questionable call i saw was the a blocking one early in the second half. Should have been a block, not a foul.
