  1. It's actually sad being a Marlins fan, seeing the Braves and Phil's make all these off-season acquirement while our biggest move was resigning Josh Johnson.
  2. Stop trolling dude, no one will take you serious if you do that. It's either that or you have no knowledge of hip-hop what so ever. The fact is, I guarentee you haven't listened to even one of his albums with an ear for the lyrics. F&L was and is the best debut since The College Dropout. The Cool was easily the best album of 2008, and it was a CONCEPT album. Not to mention even before he came out with F&L he had the best mixtape series of the past ten years. But then again, that would take you actually listening to them before making a stupid comment like that.
  3. He reminds me of MF Doom, both are surrounded in mystery and both are at least decent producers as well as top-tier MC's. He's hard to explain, you just simply have to listen to his music to truly understand the guy. Just remember, if you like many of the guys on the past few XXL Freshman lists then you will not necessarily like Jay Electronica. I could see how you could feel that way about him being "boring", I might have felt the same way a few years ago when I didn't really pay attention to lyrics. That's just a SAMPLING of what Jay provides in his writing. He excels at enlightenment, and does so brilliantly on each and every song. His versatility is another one of his strengths. Just download is discography if you're truly interested, and don't forget to BUY Exhibit C.
  4. What are your thoughts on the recent uprising of talent in the NL West? I think the Rockies certainly proved they can play with the Phillies as we saw in the playoffs. The Dodgers will always be a tough team and the Giants have a very good pitching staff. Along with that, it was pretty obvious the Marlins had the Phillies number last year especially at Citizens Bank. How do you think they will do against them this year?
  5. He's respected because he's PROVEN. Two excellent albums, and a mixtape series that is much better than anything Papoose has (or hasn't for that matter) put out.
  6. Very bad pick up, they were trying to make impact and got the wrong guy for their needs.
  7. Until he doesn't take 20 ill-advised shots a game he will remain Iggy.
  8. Their mostly known for their naturally raised and grown produce and meat. This means no additives or steroids, which equals a much cleaner and less-fatty meat. Many Chipotle haters say that even though it has better ingredients and "food with integrity", it still isn't good for you. Yeah, if you get a Burrito, Chips, and a soda it could easily add up to 1000 calories which is obviously very bad for you. But if you get what I get; Steak Salad with NO cheese, rice, etc., it will only cost you around 500 calories and get you totally filled up. TL;DR: Chipotle has the best ingredients for a "fast" food place, but like anything it should be eaten in moderation.
  9. Ok you're right. Papoose is alright, he's got some decent [expletive] (Alphabetical Slaughter, etc.) but he has no major album to really gage is success on a major level.
  10. That's no one but Saigonsfault. Joell and Crooked are pretty good, but Lupe is better than anybody thats came out in the past few years, possibly except for Jay Electronica.
  11. http://www.xxlmag.com/online/?p=73540 I expect the exact thing to happen to this year and last years list as well.
  12. Popularity and success equals talent now? Well I've been sleeping for the past 15 years of hip-hop... The album was mediocre, I can't respect your opinion if you say otherwise. Sorry. :glasses: lmao, the porduction was horrible. The two Kanye beats were garbage (Star is Born and Already Home), Timbaland played it too safe with his (Reminder, Venus vs. Mars, and Reminder). If it's one thing we all know, Jay-Z always has sick beats and a good ear for music. This seems to not be true here. Kingdom come was very bad, but had a few big singles - saving it. American Gangster was a modern day classic, but had no big singles. The last album Jay had good music, lyrics, and popular singles? The Black Album of 2003, way too long ago for teen fans to even remember (which is what I fear most of you are seeing). This makes it no surprise he would bring in ironically the two guys this thread was originally about; Drake and Kid Cudi as well as J. Cole. I don't want to say it but with no other words to describe it, it's almost as if Jay "sold out" to a degree. Thus we end up with an overly defensive Jay-Z claiming he is above all the usual bull[expletive], but continually has to remind the listener of his successes and the trends that he helped set. Fair enough, but it makes for a pretty dull listen. On more than one occasion, he just repeats himself like a Brando in "On the Waterfront" and you almost feel sorry for him (listen to "Already Home"). Then you remember that BP3 isn't supposed to be a classic. No, it is DESIGNED to get him back in the game, and it WILL sell a lot of records around the world. He played it safe and that's why it was successful.
  13. As We Enter and Strong Will Continue was pretty dope...now bring on the Jay Electro and Nas album.
  14. UNC will be ridiculous next year with these two guys alone, as well as their class from this past year.
  15. What hits has he had? Best I Ever had was a MAJOR hit, Successful was pretty big but other than that he hasn't really had any song not Young Money assisted that's gone number one. Remember when Mike Jones or Young Dro were the next big things? They each had at least two "hits" and they aren't even in the game anymore (at least to my knowledge). Not saying I know the future but if I were to bet on it, I wouldn't expect Drake or Cudi to be any bigger than they are now.
  16. I don't think it's a debate of which is a better album, but whatever pleases your ear. And I actually love Tha Carter II.
  17. American Gangster is possibly Jay-Z's best album ever, but it came out over three and a half years ago. BP3 was Jay's last shot at staying relevant in the rap game, and it was another utter failure of an album. I actually quoted that in another thread, the fact that Jay-Z is co-signing Drake. It is funny that neither Drake nor Cudi got a verse on the "great" BP3, while an overlooked guy like J. Cole did and actually killed Jay-Z on his own [expletive]... I'm not a hater of Drake at all, I [expletive] with his mixtapes from time to time. I like some of his songs, but that doesn't mean I think he's good. Just like how 808's was, I liked a lot of songs on it but I didn't think they were necessarily well executed. Oh, and 808's wasn't a hip-hop album so I'm not sure how you can show that as an example. If you want to use Kanye's last "rap" album, Graduation, it would actually work against you as that was a mediocre attempt as well.
  18. http://planetill.files.wordpress.com/2009/05/nas_illmatic_pv.jpg http://1.bp.blogspot.com/_52KZfxRH3xQ/RxTvCKICqyI/AAAAAAAAAHw/jPezdyQgT4k/s320/doomsday.jpg http://4.bp.blogspot.com/_fojPRm7dci0/Syhl1mBrICI/AAAAAAAAB1E/xfdBqa-pZXc/s320/Atmosphere_God_Loves_Ugly.jpg http://listenhereson.files.wordpress.com/2009/07/xv-everybodys-nobody.jpg Just a few, but I hold many other albums close to heart.
  19. I have West Virginia, we saw how length can effect a game last week. It will be interesting how they will do when they can't hit three's like they did last game.
  20. What are you talking about? That doesn't take anything away from the fact that even without Lil Wayne, Drake was an internet sensation from Day 1. "Best I Ever Had" didn't have a Lil Wayne feature, "Successful" didn't have a Lil Wayne feature, and I believe Jay-Z actually gave Drake a co-sign over a year ago when they preformed the for mentioned songs together. Many other major record labels were bidding on Drake around this time last year, one of which included Young Money. He could have easily made his own lane without ever joining Young Money, of course we know now that it was a good idea to join Wayne now... Rap terms? What are rap terms? I don't think anyone said Drake isn't untalented, just the fact he isn't a very good rapper. Who says you have to be a drug king-pin to be a great rapper? That's just stupid. Only time can tell of which who will still be relevant in the future, although I think the buzz of these guys will be done within the next two years. I'm a huge Cudi fan. I've analyzed his songs for hours over the past three years, looked into his lyrics and his background. I support him so much that I bought three copies of his album FFS but part of being a fan is understanding the artists short comings as well as talents. He's very good at expressing his emotions, of which people are realizing they can relate to heavily. Unfortunately that doesn't mean he has great lyrical skills or a plentiful amount of flows. Many rappers today are cursed by only having one flow; Drake being one of them. His lyrics aren't particularly deep either, just because he brushes many peoples feelings again doesn't mean it's executed very well.
  21. yah if you really tried it, it would be possible to get too much fish oil and too many b vitamins. unless you deliberately go for it, i wouldnt worry though. like i said, if you're heavy set drinking lot of milk is bad. that's why there are plans for BULKING which includes drinking half to a full gallon of milk a day. On another note, remember to lift as well as do cardio. If you do all running and other forms of cardio training it will deplete fat as well as muscle, definitely not the look anyone wants Besides, if you have more muscle, the more fat you'll burn.
  22. MC's get a little bit of love and think they hot Talkin' 'bout how much money they got ll y'all records sound the same I sick of that fake thug, R & B rap scenario all day on the radio Same scenes in the video, monotonous material You're being a complete hypocrite. No, it just means he's backed by a lot of corporate sponsorship who is getting these rappers on these tracks. And none of those guys have come out with a good album in the past few years and have had their better years behind them.
