I'm leaning towards getting a macbook, because honestly, PCs always seem to give me some kind of problems. My PC is maybe 4-5 years old now, and I'm pretty sure it started to crapping out after the first year. I can't tell you how many times I had to reinstall because of some kind of problem.

What kind of laptop would you recommend?

I made it pretty clear what I need the laptop for. No gaming, so I don't need a super laptop.

I need good laptop for college stuff, as well as general entertainment such as web browsing and watching videos. I have the money to buy a Macbook, but I feel like I might be able to find a much cheaper laptop that's just as good. Thoughts?
