Yeah, it could... It could also land him where he doesn't absolutely want to be.

Carmelo still wants out Page 4 in this thread
NomarFachix replied to magicbalala245's topic in General NBA Discussion
I don't get it... Why? He'd be playing out his last season as a Nugget and trying to win a ring... Why bench him and hope for the worst? If he's upfront and honest, and doesn't hold an hour special on ESPN toying with an entire nation, I don't see the prob. -
Which happens to be a worse team... Right? That is my only point. The Nuggets are a better team right now. We've had the discussion before with Lebron, we won't agree. All I was saying is that he has a better chance to win now with the Nuggets and then hit FA in the offseason and [expletive], sign with the Nets then.

Yeah there are ratings and potential, Sav! And vitals!

I'm running/simming it. Will be a continuous sim, hopefully get in 2 sims a week starting whenever the league is full and all that. Trades, free agency, draft, depth charts, strategies, etc... the whole 9 yards. For those of you who joined the last one, it's going to be nothing like that one was. Hopefully y'all stop by, hit me up with any questions. http://thevnfl.21.forumer.com/index.php

Yeah but under different circumstances. I would understand if Melo was getting more money from the Nets, but it's the same 3 year extension he was offered by the Nugz. The rest is opinion, and ours aren't matching up. No worries, it'll all play out... I think Melo ends up in NJ, whether I understand the decision or not.

Yeah [expletive] you Fish!

lol not clearer, I don't think we're on the same page haha. I know Carmelo would sign, I don't know where I gave you the impression I didn't think he would. The difference with Amar'e is that he left for more money. Carmelo is leaving for the same amount of money and a lesser supporting cast. What I'm saying is that Melo + what is left on the Nets after the trade (sans Harris, Favors) is an 8th seed IMO. Including the moves they made this previous offseason. Not sure what they'd have going for them next year, but I was just talking about 2010/11. I just really think we're confusing each other, not on the same page. Agree to disagree.

Eye feels a bit better today, very sensitive to light, have to wear sunglasses... and I'm inside. Sweet!

They don't get to Brooklyn until 2012, so Melo would only play one year there under this proposed contract. Not sure that's a selling point. I know everyone says "well, Jersey is close to New York anyway, he could take the train from Newark, etc". Not buying it. And a better team. Except in the case you just listed, it was... Either way, you give up Harris to get Melo. It's a no-brainer. The reason you brought up Amar'e is because you were hurt I said the Nets were a 45 win team max with Melo... Let's be real. I've said it before, and I'll say it again... In no manner does this deal not make sense for the Nets. It is a tremendous trade for the Nets. What I don't understand is the decision on Melo's part. He's leaving a superior team that finished 4th in the West for one that will (hopefully for them) tightrope into an 8th seed.

The Nets will trade for Melo because he's an upgrade for them. What I was saying is that Melo is downgrading teams from the Nuggets to the Nets, unless you want to argue the surrounding cast of the Nets (sans Harris and Favors, since they would be involved) is better than that of the Nuggets. Just don't see it. Right, you stated some wins comment about the Knicks, which was irrelevant to the conversation at hand. The Knicks have nothing to do with Melo, the Nets, the Nuggets, or whether or not Melo is downgrading teams in the process. He is going from a 53 win team to a "maybe" team that won 12 games last year. I see them winning 45 tops with Melo, which was why I said what I said. I am confused as to why he'd sign the extension with the Nets when he wouldn't sign it with the superior cast on the Nuggets. In any event, you brought up Amar'e, which was a completely irrelevant comparison. FA with a max bid from one team is a different scenario than the same max bid from two teams, one clearly superior, and choosing the other as a destination via trade. IDK man, it's exciting for the East if he does. The Knicks/Nets games were always fun to watch last year because they were both so bad that neither team pulled away... Hopefully if this goes through they're exciting for a different reason

I said "fresh off a 12 win season", which is true. Added 6th men in free agency, certainly you did. You'd also lose Devin Harris and Derrick Favors in the deal, leaving you with Melo, Brook... uh... Jordan Farmar? Travis Outlaw? Yes, greatly improved. Not what Denver has, though. Not by a long shot. Which was my point... He's leaving Denver for a downgrade. That team didn't offer him a max contract, and, to my knowledge, neither did anyone else. Carmelo was offered the same extension with Denver that he'll be getting with New Jersey. Invalid point is invalid. Good talks indeed.

Meh, sitting at an 8.3/10 on IMDB right now on 5,000 fresh votes and a 94% on rottentomatoes... I'll probably give it a look at some point.
-
No, I brought up the valid point that he's leaving a team fresh off of 53 wins for one fresh off of 12... He'd be lucky to win 45 in New Jersey. What Amar'e has to do with... well... any of this is beyond my comprehension. But... okay. Good talk.

In roll the defensive Nets fans, shoulda seen this one coming from the pre-free agency discussions... wow.
-
lol nah holmes, not mad... Just confused. There's a better team in Denver he's leaving.
-
He signs a $65M extension and the other team gets him for three years, opposed to one. Won't sign the deal if he's going somewhere he doesn't want to.

I was just doing P90X with bands, because I don't have a pullup bar in my new apartment... Didn't have anything in the ceiling to hang it with, so I was doing leg raises and doing rows off of my feet with the bands... Snapped off into my eye and [expletive] is blurry like a MO. Hope I didn't crush anything important.

lol, he was as much the problem as anyone else. Kid dished it right back, and had a little vendetta against/crush on Sacha that was bordering on frightening.
