They are incredible. Those numbers are incredible. That 3 year split is hall of fame material. (Not that a 3 year split makes you HOF worthy, saying if he had a career of those numbers). Your judgment that, if someone said last year that Dan Haren was a qualifier for best pitcher in baseball, you'd laugh. There could be a case for it. Especially with those three year splits. All of that said, Cliff Lee is much better than Dan Haren. Cliff Lee being left off a top 5 list makes me sad... He's so good.

If you called him that now you'd be laughed at... because he's having a bad year. Your judgment is blinded by his current performance. His 3-year split from '07 to '09 was incredible... 223 IP, 3.18 ERA, .239 BAA, 4.67 K/BB, those are phenomenal numbers.

WS ring made it worth it last year on a 3 man playoff rotation, he's got plenty of time to turn it around and be halfway worthwhile this year.

Absolutely. Lowest WHIP, best K:BB. Pretty good indicators of a good pitcher. His BAA is top 15 too.
