Lions needed Scheffler, he's a great mid-range pass catcher (Stafford needs all the weapons he can get) and it allows them to tell Pettigrew not to rush back from surgery. Sims also didn't fit Schwartz's scheme. 2+2=Trade

Ernie Sims is closer to utter garbage who'll be benched by week 8 than he is to being a beast? All you said negatively about him is that he is undersized. That didn't stop him from piling up 372 tackles in his first three seasons before being raped by injuries the past two years, along with a new scheme implemented by a new coach which didn't complement his skill set. If he's asked to play pure WILL and rush the passer, hit the HB in the mouth, and roam, he's going to be a stud in Philly.
