85% means better than Ewing played his entire career. Lin could be mediocre, so let's pay him $25M and owe $15M in tax in year 3, essentially bumping to 3 years, $40M. Worth it because Lin had an awesome 10 game stretch and has 25 career starts. Baron Davis was a broken down old man with health issues. Doesn't compare to the other three, and they're all upgrades over playoff starter Mike Bibby..

Jeremy Lin would cost the Knicks over $30M in year three with the repeat offender tax. That is linsane. For a guy with no left hand, no defense (JYD already said a superstar needs to play both ways), 25 career starts, D'Antoni inflation, and an inability to dribble beyond mid court against Miami... there sure is a lot of outcry here. Absolutely, I don't disagree. But then he can't get mad that the Knicks don't match and fans can't say he deserves to be matched.. End of the day he did what was best for him, not what was best for us. Props to him, but I don't think he's worth what he's getting. It's a business on both ends.
