Houston Rockets 2011 offseason thread
htownborn replied to ChosenOne's topic in Houston Rockets Team Forum
I'm not comparing Jonas to Darko in anyway all i was saying is we don't want to pick him and he ends up being like Darko. I think Valanciunas is more like a more aggresive Andris Biedrins. He can grab boards and play solid D and I think he has the potential to become a pretty solid post player. -
I'll be making one after the draft lottery

I've seen highlights of him, i think he has potential but he's still young. And alot of European players that come in the NBA young like him usually don't pan out right away. Again like Darko even though his considered a bust he still has time to develope because he's still young but how long will that take? I mean it even took Yao a couple of years before he was actually NBA ready. -

I highly doubt that we would be able to get any kind of deal done for Iggy or Granger at least without trading Scola, or at least Martin or Lowry. He goes to UCLA, he's being compared to Chilldress and Prince lol, true but the Rockets really don't have much of a choice but to get Dalembert if they can't get Nene or Gasol and all we really need is a shot blocker anyway. And theres really not enough big man in this years draft in position for the Rockets to get. Unless they trade up like you said. But its still a weak draft we don't even know if Valanciunas well enter the draft this year and if he does he could end up being Darko 2.0. Kanter looks good though but I don't know if we could get in position to get him and his more of a PF than C. -

This is my wishlist for what I want the Rockets to do this season. 1. Trade Scola, Miller, T-Will, and a pick from this years draft to Philly for Iggy and Speights (Wishful thinking I know I don't Philly lets go of Iggy anytime soon but this is still a wishlist). 2. With the one pick we didn't trade which would be the Pheonix Suns pick we should draft another SF. If he's still around Tyler Honeycutt would be a nice choice he can play both the 2 and 3, has good athleticism, and has potential to be a good defender. Needs to bulk up some though. 2. Sign one of the following Nene, Gasol, or Dalembert. 3. Sign Yao to less money (if he accepts, he accepts, if he doesn't life goes on) and maybe sign Hayes back We would have a nice team coming into the season Starting 5 Kyle Lowry Kevin Martin Andre Iguodala Patrick Patterson Yao Ming Bench Courtney Lee Nene, Gasol, or Dalembert Goran Dragic Jordan Hill Chase Budinger Chuck Hayes Marreese Speights Hasheem Thabett Tyler Honeycutt -

I don't understand how you can say that. One the lottery hasn't even happened yet and two even if the Cavs do get the number 1 pick what makes you think they'll take Irving?

D-Rose for MVP, he's had an amazing season his team has the best record in the East and he has had this team on his back when Boozer and Noah were out with injury's. Dwight Howard comes in second without him the magic would be an 8th seed.

This really isn't even a question we all know Blake's going to get it.

Morey Looking For Star, Owner Prefers Status Quo
htownborn replied to htown11's topic in Houston Rockets Team Forum
I like the team we have too but to say we don't need a star or at least a center is absurd. We definitley need a star to help out during crunch time situations in the games. In the final minutes of games we don't have a true closer. Martin and Scola can score but they never show up when ever its close down to the wire, Lowry is still developing his offensive game and there's really no need to even discuss Budinger and Hayes. Im not saying we need to go after Dwight Howard or Chris Paul but if we could pull of getting a Iguodala or Granger that would be just fine. And if the Rockets are serious about signing back Yao then were going to need to get a better back up center because Chuck Hayes just isn't going to cut it at center to much longer, Brad Miller is aging, and Thabeet is still developing his game. A guy I think the Rockets should look at is Samuel Dalembert. His contract expires this year with Sacrtamento and he would be a great back up for Yao and a good center to step into the starting lineup when Yao is hurt. -
Lakers deserved to lose this game it really doesn't make any sense. They played great defense the whole game, and pretty much locked up LeBron and Wade until crunch time. I mean LeBron looked lost majority of the game and was off when he shot most of the time and the same can be said for Wade until the 4th quater. True the referee missed 2 important calls at the end of the game, granted they missed some for Miami aswell. But they missed 2 crucial calls at the end of the game for L.A. that was clearly goaltending and Wade and LeBron fouled the hell out of Kobe near the end of the game. But back to the point the Lakers missed to many crucial free throws at the end of the game and can someone please tell me what the hell Kobe was thinking shooting a 30 foot 3 pointer down 4 points with 25 seconds left in the game. Honestly thats something I excpect out of LeBron but not Kobe. And the Lakers turned the ball over just as much as the Heat I mean it was like Miami was pretty much giving them the ball for free the Lakers hand it right back to them with a stupid shot or pass. I'm actually more upset over this game than the last one because the Lakers basically beat themselves. No way they should have lost this game tonight.

I knew I had forgot about somebody. There really is no excuss for the Texans to at least not sign one of these guys. Bailey has already signed with Denver but theirs still guys out there.

Draft Express Article on Perry Jones
htownborn replied to Built Ford Tough's topic in NBA Draft History
He's an intriguing specieman indeed and he has way better ball handling than what I thought. My problem with Jones though is what position he will play in the NBA. He has the body of a PF but plays like a SF and he really needs to work on his defense and get more consistency on his shoots. -
I agree, Its time to go shopping Texans you have Asomugha, Bailey, and Sanders on the market.

Deron Williams wants to join the Knicks
htownborn replied to The Regime's topic in New York Knicks Team Forum
So if this is true what does this mean for Chris Paul? I thought he was coming to New York -
Of course it was fixed, but its fixed pretty much every year. Prime example 2006 Slam Dunk contest we all know Iggy got robbed. And based on the people that were in it people were automatically going to choose Blake even though most of the dunks were good. Ibake desvered a 50 for the free throw line dunk since he actually dunked further than MJ and Dr.J and DeRozan dunk was nice too the bounce of the ground MJ kind of dunk. Blake had some nice dunks aswell but the dunk over the car was pointless, too much hype just for a two handed tomahawk over the front of the car. McGee sort of surprised me I knew he had hops but he did better than what I expected. Didn't really do anything flashy but most of his dunks were very impressive.

Hell yeah I'd take Ellis over Kevin Martin and the rest in a heartbeat. He's explosive, quick, and among the league leaders in steals. This guy is very special this really isn't even a debate.

Rockets and Bulls discuss Lee for Asik deal
htownborn replied to Dash's topic in Houston Rockets Team Forum
O.K. I'll give you that Landry can't rebound to save his life, thats the one thing I'll give Hill over Landry. But I actually kind of like Patterson more than Hill though he's come in and has played solid minutes for us and usually gives the Rockets just what they need of off the bench. He looks much more comfortable in our system than Hill, although Hill does a pretty nice job aswell but like you said maybe Adelman should put more trust into Hill than what he has. -

htownborn replied to Dash's topic in Houston Rockets Team Forum
True we have Hill and Patterson but in all honesty I see the Rockets trading Hill. Don't get me wrong I like Hill he's an impressive young prospect but at times he looks lost on the floor and above all he needs to bulk up some because he gets killed in the low post very easily. Landry on the other while he's undersized he's still a manbeast. He brings the toughness and energy that the Rockets could really use right now. And I'm not totally against getting Asik either but like I said I would just see if I can find something better first if we can't get nothing then we can pull the trigger on this trade happening. -

htownborn replied to Dash's topic in Houston Rockets Team Forum
He's done a decent job for the PT he has been getting true but I just don't know about trading him for Lee. I feel like htown11 if we wanted to get a center to pick up 6 fouls we could have just signed Ericka Dampier earlier this season. IDK maybe we should look at this trade as a backup plan if we can't get anything done but I still feel we could get better than this. I would look at Sacramento they have plenty of big men we could use. Dalembert who has a big expiring contract and still is useful(I doubt if they go after that big contract but who knows), a young prospect in Hassan Whiteside, or we could maybe work something out and get Thompson or maybe bring Landry back in.
