Change the rules for retired numbers?
htownborn replied to Real Deal's topic in General NBA Discussion
I agree with Chuck, if the NFL allows its players to do it I don't see why the NBA can't do it. I mean I think that jerseys could still be retired and all but as for the number I think it shouldn't really matter. I mean Chuck didn't even wear #34 his whole carrer and what will happen when all the other numbers are retired. -
If the All-Star game was to start today who in your opinion deserves to be in the All-Star game this year. And who are your alternates. West PG Deron Williams SG Kobe Bryant SF Kevin Durnat PF Dirk Nowitzki C Pau Gasol Carmelo Anthony Russell Westbrook (I think no one say this out of Westbrook he's averging 24 and 9 along with 2 steals and is the best rebounding gaurds in the game.) Chris Paul Kevin Love (Yes I know he plays for the T-Wolves and their not too good but 20 and 15 speaks for itself.) Manu Ginobli Blake Griffin (I know he's a rookie and plays for the Clippers but its hard to not put Griffin as an all-star. Not just because of his dunks but he's averging 20 points and 12 rebounds he's on of the best PF not only in the West but in the league.) Steve Nash Zack Randolph (Alternate) Lamar Odom (Alternate) (He has been playing very well with the abscence of Andrew Bynum averging nearly 15 and 10.) Monta Ellis (Alternate) East PG Rajon Rondo SG Dwayne Wade SF LeBron James PF Amare Stoudimire C Dwight Howard Derrick Rose Joakim Noah (Lets just pretend he isn't hurt.) Andrew Bogut (He has to be the second best center on the East Raymond Felton (He is averging nearly a double double and if half the reason the Knicks have been playing so well.) Danny Granger Kevin Garnett Josh Smith (Smith has been playing well for Atlanta without Johnson. He averges nearly a double double with 2 blocks and a steal a game. If he keeps it up he could be an All-Star.) John Wall (Alternate) (Wall has been playing pretty good but I don't see him making it this year unless one of the 3 PG's I named above gets hurt.) Al Horford (Alternate) Paul Peirce (Alternate)

It's obvious the Rockets are T-Macing Yao, the only difference is I don't them trading Yao. He'll play couple of more games this season and will more than likley retire if he doesn't decide to sign for less money.

Phil Jackson says Houston two titles are tainted`
htownborn replied to magicbalala245's topic in Houston Rockets Team Forum
I agree, I believe if the Rockets meet the Bulls in the 94 Finals then Chicago may have came up on top, but if the Bulls and Rockets would have met in 95 I think the Rockets would have won. I mean it was destiny for us to win that year we were the 6th seed and beat the top 3 seeds in the West and swept the #1 seed in the East. I know its hard beating against the Jordan but I believe we would have actually beaten them that year if they had made it to the Finals. -
PG: Rajon Rondo SG: Kobe Bryant SF: Carmelo Anthony PF: Kevin Love C: Yao Ming Bench: Chauncy Billups O.J. Mayo Ron Artest Luis Scola Joakim Noah Tayshaun Prince Eric Gordon

We didn't need Ericka anyway, Jordan Hill or Chuck Hayes will do just fine as our 3rd option at center.

Who should be in the 2011 NBA Sprite Slam Dunk Contest?
htownborn replied to a topic in General NBA Discussion
I don't really care I just hope Derrick Rose enters and maybe Eric Gordon. I would like to see Shannon Brown enter again I know he can do better than what he did last year and maybe Javale Mcgee -
Eastern : Atlantic : Boston Celtics I'm a Laker fan and dislike the Celtics to a certain extent but I do respect them the most out of all the teams in their division. Central : Chicago Bulls I've always like the Bulls since the Jordan era obviously but Derrick Rose is putting the Bulls back on the map Southeast : Miami Heat Don't get it twisted I just didn't start liking the SuperHeat because the got LeBron and Bosh to team with Wade. I've actually liked the Heat since they had Zo and Timmy. Western : Northwest : Denver Nuggets They have a nice team and to be honest I just like Melo. Southwest : Houston Rockets I'm from Houston so theirs really no surprise as to why I picked them Pacific : Los Angeles Lakers Their the best team in the league with arguably the best player in the league

Will the 49ers make the playoffs?
htownborn replied to Real Deal's topic in NFC Conference Discussion
I really like the niners and would like to see them reach the playoffs but it would be a long shot with them already being 0-5. Luckly for the niners the rest of their schedule doesn't seem to tough with the exception of Green Bay and San Diego. But just because the rest of the schedule looks pretty easy doesn't mean the niners need to take any team easily, they need to win every game against teams they are better than starting next week with Oakland. -
Most Underrated/Overrated Players in the NBA?
htownborn replied to Scout200's topic in General NBA Discussion
Top 10 Underrated (in no particular order) O.J. Mayo (If you you were to take him of the Grizzles and put him on a team that desperately needs a SG or take Zach Randolph or Rudy Gay away from Memphis this guy could possibly be an All-Star and easily put up 20 points a night.) Eric Gordan (I followed Gordan in college but never saw to much of him with the Clippers. But after watching him in the FIBA games I found out that he can really play. He can shot and he can slash, if the Clippers starting 5 can stay healthy and consistant they have a nice future with guys like Gordan, Griffin, and Kaman.) Kevin Love (Like Eric Gordan I don't really see much of Love during the regular season but during the FIBA tournament he was snagging boards left and right. He's a double double waiting to happen every night.) Luis Scola (Watch any Rockets game and he has a double double nearly every game.) Stephen Jackson (He's overlooked every year and should have been an All-Star last year IMO.) Andre Iguodala (He can score and has nice defense. He has All-Star potential, infact I wouldn't be surprised to see him in it this season.) Brook Lopez (He's a top 10 center and nearly averaged a double double a game last year.) Carl Landry (He's hardnose and tough. He can knock down long range shots, and can tear the rim down. As a Rocket fan I miss having this guy on our team) Kevin Martin (Now to the guy we traded Landry for Kevin Martin. I was kind of half and half with Martin at first but I'm confident he'll be a good fit with us. He's a pretty effiecent scorer with decent defense and if he can improve he could be an All-Star.) John Salmons (The Bucks wouldn't have even made the playoffs last year if it wasn't for Salmons. He's another guy who can score at will and if he can play this year the way he played late last year for the Bucks he can possibly be an All-Star As far as overrated goes I really think their is no overrated player in the NBA. Players can't be overrated but people can overrate players. -
Courtney Lee - Chase Budinger alley oops
htownborn replied to Multi-Billionaire's topic in Houston Rockets Team Forum
I didn't get a chance to see this game but the dunks are sick. Lee seems like a perfect fit for the team of the bench. -
Cousins Disses Favors Out of Disbelief
htownborn replied to AboveLegit's topic in Sacramento Kings Team Forum
Cousins has a big mouth but i like it. I just hope he can back it up, preseason or not 16 and 16 is very impressive for any big man in the NBA. -
We were first in the division to begin with even if the Colts would have won today. But I agree this was a good win and Cush and hopefully Andre will be back next game.
-
I think he'll be a top 10 back for years to come, but will he be better than AP, CJ, and the rest of the elite backs, I really can't say its to early to really tell. But if he stays consistent then yeah I believe he will he will.

Gary Kubiak and Matt Schaub
htownborn replied to The Great iBoldin's topic in AFC Conference Discussion
LOL, Schaub on that sideline sniffin on that coke. -
IMO Vince Carter and J-Rich were 2 of the best dunkers of the early 2000's. They both have done some of the sickest dunks in the NBA but if I had to go with someone it would have to be Vince Carter because he was more innovative and creative with his dunks than J-Rich was.
-
True that but at the moment though I just don't see Deron Williams asking for a trade. I think he'll start thinking about moving depending on how the Jazz play this season. Or maybe he'll leave for the reason you said If a guy like CP3 decides to join a big 3.

Cousins at center or power forward?
htownborn replied to Real Deal's topic in Sacramento Kings Team Forum
Cousins should play Center, I honestly don't see why so many people think he should play the 4, he's to big for that position. Also Samuel Dalembert is nothing more than another big body and expiring contract, I garuntee you he won't be with Sacramento by next year. Hassan Whiteside will more than likely be in and out of the D-League until Sacramento feels his ready and Landry and Thompson will share minutes at the 4. -
They have the more talented team yet they continue to struggle. And records really don't mean anything since the Cowboys may still make it to the playoffs, but for the Texans it means alot since they want to get of to a good start. And their will be some Cowboys fans their but do you seriously think their going to out number Texans fans.
-
The Texans should win this game for a couple of reasons. 1. Were 2-0 and #1 in our division and we want it to stay that way. 2. Dallas is 0-2 and is struggling offensively and the last thing we want is for Dallas to get their first win against us. 3. The game is in Houston so the crowd is behind them, there's no way the Texans should lose this game. However I do think this well be a tough game for the Texans as the Cowboys are already being trashed by the media and we already beat them in the pre-season. So they will be seeking revenge Sunday and I believe this will be a good, tough, physical game but I just can't see the Texan's losing this game.

Boston Celtics : Rajon Rondo or Paul Peirce Dallas Mavericks : Dirk Nowitzki New Jersey Nets : Devin Harris or Brook Lopez Houston Rockets : Yao Ming New York Knicks : Amare Stoudemire Memphis Grizzlies : Zach Randolph Philadelphia 76ers : Andre Iguodala New Orleans Hornets :Chris Paul Toronto Raptors : Andrea Bargnani San Antonio Spurs : Tim Duncan Chicago Bulls : Derrick Rose Denver Nuggets : Carmelo Anthony Cleveland Cavaliers : Mo Williams Minnesota Timberwolves : Michael Beasley Detroit Pistons : Rodney Stuckey Portland Trailblazers : Brandon Roy Indiana Pacers : Danny Granger Oklahoma City Thunder : Kevin Durant Milwaukee Bucks : Andrew Bogut Utah Jazz : Deron Williams Atlanta Hawks : Joe Johnson Golden State Warriors : Stephen Curry Charlotte Bobcats : Gerald Wallace Los Angeles Clippers : Eric Gordan Miami Heat : Dwayne Wade Los Angeles Lakers : Kobe Bryant Orlando Magic : Dwight Howard Phoenix Suns : Steve Nash Washington Wizards : Gilbert Arenas (right now) Sacramento Kings : Tyreke Evans

I'm sort of confident the Texans will win this one. Even though the Skins beat the Cowboys it was barley and their offense wasn't to good. McNabb was 15-32 passing for 171 yards and he really doesn't have to many options to pass it to other than Moss and Cooley. And they had a decent running game against the Cowboys but I believe the Texans run defense should stop it. So I'm looking for McNabb to depend on scrabling alot in which the Texans really have problems against. As for our offense goes if Foster can continue the way he's been playing and Schaub and Dre can actually connect with a few bombs despite the tough Redskins defense then we should be good. But the main thing is the Texans must be consistant through out the whole game.

Can the Heat win a championship this year...
htownborn replied to Multi-Billionaire's topic in Miami Heat Team Forum
Will the SuperHeat win another championship? More than likley I can see them winning at least 3. Will they do it this year, IDK about that yet. Until the season starts I still have my money on the Lakers regardless of how many stars the SuperHeat has. -
Yao Ming will only play 24 minutes a game
htownborn replied to magicbalala245's topic in Houston Rockets Team Forum
Obviously Yao isn't 100% healthy at the moment otherwise he would get at least 30 minutes a game. I think the Rockets will only do the 24 minutes a game thing for maybe the first half of the season and if Yao can prove he can handle it then I can see Morey and Adelman reaching an agreement to increase he's minutes. Luckly for Yao the Rocket team this year doesn't necessarily have to be run through him, since without Yao their more of a run and gun type of team. -
