  1. We finally won against this team... it seems like an eternity. It happened when Melo (sick) didn't play too.
  2. I am a bit surprised too... but I think they just clicked and had that chemistry they didn't have last season. Richard Jefferson is playing a lot better this season than last season, guys without the ball seem to know better where they should move. They remain dangerous from outside with Manu, Jefferson, Hill, they can pass the ball as a team, and it seems like they make a concerted effort to crash the boards as a team e.g. guards are helping the bigs rebounding the ball because Timmy is old and 2nd yr guy Blair is crashing the boards but they still need help in that department.
  3. I do believe pro athletes always have this belief that success starts from the leader aka coach. If the leader is someone who they respect, they will play hard for him, they will suddenly understand the instructions given, they will understand their roles, they will follow the leader. But if the leader is someone they don't have respect in the first place, and that leader doesn't help himself by not winning their respect, the players are going to refuse following him. Legendary coaches have their respect, but even Pat Riley had to win respect from Magic and Kareem, Phil Jackson had to win MJ's respect, Gregg Popovich had to win David Robinson and Duncan's respect... if the coaches don't win the teams' stars' respect they won't stay long. Doc Rivers obviously won Pierce's respect even before KG and Ray were traded to Celtics... that is why before the Celtics were good they decided to extend him. When you (as the coach) win your team's stars' respect, it's easier to establish what you want to do, your system on the team to the rest of the personnel. I do feel Spo doesn't help himself by blowing up at times in timeouts... when you want to win respect from players, getting angry should be the last on that list... patience and calmness to go with strategy and clarity of what you want should be the thing you do... e.g. MJ wasn't patient with Phil Jackson, maybe he thought he's another chopped liver and wanted someone like Chuck Daly coaching the team, but Phil never lost it, he was patient although he knew he was MJ's punching bag... as games went on, Phil's patience, calmness, and strategy started to win MJ over... and then the Bulls started winning games, and then titles. Bursting words in fire will never get the message across to star players, not when you haven't won the players' respect. Imagine you're LeBron and who'd you prefer yelling in your face in timeouts? Spoelstra or Riley? It's an easy answer. I know who I respect.
  4. Unexpected. He still has a weird shooting form to be this good of a shooter, whatever works I guess. If he keeps this up, shots start falling for him, I think he might turn out to be a star. His confidence will grow and this game is about confidence when you want to become a star. He's always got athleticism and his length reminds me of T-Mac.
  5. A lot of other things should be considered... Sure Murphy is a very good outside shooter and rebounder, but not hustling back on defense, not playing hard, poor body language... these are all contagious to other teammates, and if Avery wants to change the culture of losing from last season he can't have any of these.
  6. I think it's not a big deal. But does LeBron respect Spo? Obviously not. Does Spo know LeBron doesn't respect him? Obviously yes, but he won't take it personal.
  7. CARME[expletive]ingLO ANTHONY wow Now trade him Watson had 33 pts, I was smh this guy was just killing us in 2nd half. He was laying it up all game like our defense was nothing. Had the Bulls won, they would have deserved it...
  8. Is David Kahn a genius after all? I remember he compared Darko's passing with C-Webb's... and while C-Webb's passing was elite... Darko's passing is quite something. Kahn stole Beasley from Heat, also.
  9. I would say one clear advantage/ aspect of the game that I think J.R. has over Brown is the ability to create his own shots. Brown's scoring comes mostly from fastbreak dunks and screens... J.R. can create his shots at will and so effortlessly. A second aspect of advantage is passing. I do think Brown's passing is average... J.R.'s passing is on a very high level.
  10. ^I agree with the confident cocky part. Brown is a great teammate and locker room guy. This is not to say J.R. is a cancer... when he goes "nuts" he doesn't bring the team down like most cancers, e.g. sabotaging a game... this is because I can say without bias that J.R. tries to be the player George Karl wants him to be, but due to GK's crazy scrutiny on him, he tends to fold under pressure. I do believe J.R. just happened to play with 2 coaches (Byron Scott in New Orleans and George Karl now) that don't tolerate him much. I do believe GK has a strong bias against J.R. In other words, he tries to make too much over little stuff when J.R. screws up. And probably Byron Scott did too. In Portland game, we saw how Billups jacked up a contested 30 footer 3-pointer with 13 secs left that cost us the game. GK always complained about J.R.'s shot selection, and yet he did not say anything about that Billups shot, and Billups (shooting career worst 31 3PT% this season, including about 33 overall FG%) has taken many ill-advised shots since last year. I do believe J.R. can thrive and at least become a 20 ppg scorer under the coach that pushes the right buttons with him. Coaches that are patient and hold their own emotions in check when dealing with him, yet those that demand respect. Phil Jackson comes into mind. George Karl just doesn't seem to have any interest in getting out that diamond from the rough or take any "crap" from J.R. Despite the baggage, I'll take J.R. any day for many reasons: - He is a scoring threat that EASILY creates his own shots, be it half-court sets or full-court sets. - He passes like a PG, he can pass so well that he is one of the few non-PGs that actually have that chance to be a full-time PG... Despite his disdain for J.R., it's not uncommon for him to trust J.R. enough to run the team's plays even when Billups/ Ty are on the floor at times. He has not only passing skill but also the court vision of a PG. He can be a SG version of LeBron, one that scores but also facilitates the team very well. He passes so well that I rarely see him commit a TO from his passing. He can do pick and roll and bounce passes through tight spaces of defense better than most PGs in the L. He can penetrate and kick out flawlessly. He can dish alley oops off dribble in transition. Unfortunately, there's not many youtube videos of his passing as evidence... all I ask is if you doubt my opinion on J.R.'s passing, please watch and observe more Nugget games. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=0A2zfItzJAw http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=zmEPwMke2sA - When he puts his mind to it, J.R. is actually a good defender... I wouldn't say he is All NBA Defensive Team, but one that is clearly above average J.R. is not my favorite player by any means, so I can say with certainty that I said all above without bias.
  11. I brush in the sink... but I know some people do in the shower, like my brother lol
  12. My man, let's put it this way, your team wants to trade for Melo: - WAY MORE than we want to trade Melo, - WAY MORE than Melo wants to play for your team, - WAY MORE than we want to trade for Favors and insert a second star here... Talk about leverage. You think the Nets have leverage in these talks? When you can sense and feel their desperation even here in Australia. lol... Are you kidding? Also remember that we rejected Favors and Kirilenko... and now all of a sudden you think Nuggets will take Favors alone for Melo? Your team is not the only team we can trade Melo to. It is not "New York Nets". The Knicks can always sweeten their offer... or according to Marc Stein, Dallas, Houston and a lot of teams are willing to risk trading for Melo for the rest of the year and hoping he would sign extension on their team.
  13. We'll take Williams too for a throw in He's very gifted... but the guy needs to mature a little.
  14. You're right... but what do you think China and Russia will do?
  15. Who the [expletive] pees in the shower? There's toilet use it!
  16. LOL Lopez is not even an All Star yet... his stats are actually down across the board from last season: - 17.2 ppg from 18.8 ppg - 6.3 rpg from 8.6 rpg - 1.3 apg from 2.3 apg - 42.2 FG% from 49.9 FG% - He fouls more (3.8 FPG from 3.1 FPG) in less minutes this season (34.7 mpg from 36.9 mpg) D-Favors is a talent, but also a project. Melo is proven. I'm not even biased about Melo, again, I'm his biggest critic on this site. I also love Favors but this discussion stinks because of your biasedness.
  17. Do you really think Favors alone would secure Melo? Or Lopez alone? If Nets have offered Favors and Harris... I don't see why the negotiation cannot get to Favors and Lopez, even if it means depleting the Nets' frontcourt. For the pure reason that Melo is one of the top 5 players, a superstar, and he might be lazy on some nights (although it's getting less often, trust me I'm the hardest Melo critic on the site) but fact is his team never missed a playoffs in his career. If it means getting a true franchise player, a player that sells merchandise and puts butts on the seats... Bad teams don't get better because they don't have that foundation to build around... Melo is that foundation. I don't see why Phokorov and Jay-Z won't do this. If you trade Favors and Lopez for Melo and keep Williams and Harris, the 1-3 is one of the best in the L. You only need serviceable 4 and 5. With Melo as the #1 option, Harris might thrive as #2 option and regain his All Star form. Plus we can always throw in Melvin Ely.
  18. I didn't say it will make the actual salt sweet... the faith will trick your mind into believing that the salt is sweet, although the salt itself is of course still salty, and therefore you would (directed by your subconscious mind) pour salt into your coffee when you want to sweeten it without you consciously realizing it... and then moments later, you'd be like (realizing you just poured salt into coffee), "did I really pour salt into my coffee?" "Reality" is not universal, reality depends on the person to accept what they think is real and what they think is not real. E.g. a person can see a blue color and say it's "blue", but what is "blue" to another person who's color-blind since birth? How about a "blue" color that looks "green" to another person? We're not blessed with feathers like birds, so of course, we can't naturally fly. But can we invent machines that enable us to fly? Yes. And we had Michael Jordan "who believed he could fly"... and at times, Michael Jordan mesmerized us into believing that he could really fly... because the person (MJ) really and truly believed he could fly. Whether or not the definition of "flying" being jumping from the free throw line and being pulled back by gravity seconds later matches other people's realities of "flying" matters not, as long as MJ believed in his own definition of "flying". Other people's realities mattered not to MJ, it's his own reality that mattered to him. It's YOUR OWN reality that matters to you whether you "fly" or not, after 1 year of conditioning and believing in that statement. Your beliefs and realities differ from other people's just as people see one color as different colors. --- What can be accepted as a universal truth/ reality, however, is this: man can create nothing which he does not first conceive in his mind. If you program your mind to believe you can fly to the point that you really believe you can fly, you might find a way to fly. But you will NEVER ever (find a way to) fly if you act indifferent toward the subject of flying, or worse, don't believe it. Therefore, the concept of getting rich is the same: if you somehow program your subconscious mind into believing that you will be rich, you might find a way to be rich... but if you act indifferent toward it, or don't believe it, you will NEVER be rich. That's why being "rich" or "poor" is A STATE OF MIND... it is ALL mental. Check the get-rich books, I bet 99% of the titles say "THINK and Grow Rich" or "THINK like a billionaire". It's all about THINKing. The true/ core difference between a billionaire, a millionaire, a middle class, and a homeless man is NOT their money, but their MENTAL or the way they THINK when it comes to the subject of money. Some people (when they get money) will spend all their money, some people will invest it, some people will gamble it, some people will save it, and some people will use all the money to pay their bills that nothing's left. They are all different paths that lead to financial success, or financial stagnancy, or financial mediocrity. Different people with different thinking when it comes to money will do different things with their money, that's why some end up a billionaire, some end up a millionaire, some end up middle class or poor. Money is just a measurement/ meter/ reflection of their financial IQ smarts as well as their habits with money.
  19. Seoul is threatened by North Korea's artillery, Tokyo by its missiles, and Pyongyang is believed to be designing missiles capable of reaching the U.S.
  20. Don't resort to personal attack. In the original proposed deal, your team would have lost BOTH Favors and Harris to get Melo. Problem was, the Nuggets were not interested in Harris because we already have Billups and Ty, so your team invited Charlotte and Utah so the deal became Harris being redirected to Charlotte, and instead of Harris, the Nuggets would have got Kirilenko. It wasn't Harris, but to get Kirilenko to Denver, your team has to send Harris too. Does it matter if Harris goes to Denver or Charlotte or Utah FROM YOUR TEAM'S POINT OF VIEW? No. In other words, would Nets fans like you care where Harris ends up? No. Here's what it looks like FROM YOUR TEAM'S POINT OF VIEW: OUTPUT: Favors and Harris INPUT: Melo So now that the deal is dead, your team is trying to deal directly with Nuggets, without a 3rd team. So if that's the case, the Nuggets are essentially asking the Nets back to replace Harris with Lopez. So it's looking like (FROM YOUR TEAM'S POINT OF VIEW): OUTPUT: Favors and Lopez INPUT: Melo Without Favors, no deal. If a deal with Nets ever happens, I'll bet ANYTHING with you that Favors will be in the package. He's our #1 target. Think again before calling anyone retard.
  21. Take Favors out and Nuggets will pull out of the deal. The centerpiece in your team's package is Favors, not Harris, not even your best player Lopez. Yes Favors is the centerpiece. The question is who's that second guy to be put in the deal... so far you know the Nuggets have rejected Andrei Kirilenko. It was even said the Nets will be willing to put Harris in as well (so it's Harris + Favors). But Nuggets are pushing for Nets to put in Lopez.
  22. I wonder if Miami would consider Nene and J.R. Smith for Chris Bosh? We would do Kenyon Martin (and Heat would too), but he's out until January so I guess they'll not take him. Let's face it, LeBron is the PG of this team. But if you want a secondary "PG", enters J.R. For those who don't believe J.R. has a great vision and passing skills like a PG, I insist you watch more Nugget games. He can penetrate and kick out, he does pick and roll with Nene (he's our best pick and roll passer on the team actually). He can make bounce/ straight pass. He can make pass off the dribble, he can draw more defenders and find open big men inside. I rarely see J.R. commit a TO passing the ball. Without bias, I can say with certainty that J.R.'s passing is so good that I would rate him as the best passer on the team, ahead of Ty, Melo, and Billups. More importantly, J.R. can knock down outside shots. C - Nene PF - Udonis Haslem SF - LeBron James SG - Dwyane Wade PG - J.R. Smith --- For Nuggets, arrival of Chris Bosh is a win-win for Nuggets and Bosh. Bosh will definitely have a bigger role in Denver and can easily average 20 and 10... and for Nuggets, the arrival of Bosh gives them the strongest reason yet for Melo to stay. C - Shelden Williams PF - Chris Bosh SF - Carmelo Anthony SG - Arron Afflalo PG - Chauncey Billups What do you guys think? I'm all for this trade.
