We got close. We played a great first half and we were the better team for the most part and caused more chances, but our defense fell asleep one play and they got us. We're making progress though. Loosing 1-0 at Barcelona isn't a bad result. I think we can get them back when the game goes back to Madrid.

I think guys should ether get two years of college or go directly from high school. I agree with Flash saying that more busts are avoided with a year of college, but if they think they are ready to go to the NBA, that's their choice. If that choice fails for them, it's their fault. I would like two years because it makes the college game better. Other than that, there is no point of them even coming to college if they are only going to stay one year. If they were allowed to go directly from high school, the Derrick Rose situations would be avoided because kids wouldn't have to cheat their way into college.

The Arkansas vs. LSU games have been great games the last few years. Game is going into OT after LSU's game tying field goal.

First game of the biggest rivalry in the world is tomorrow. I'm nervous because it's at Camp Nau and Ronaldo has only been back for one game, but I think if we go out there with a strong midfield and only two forwards (Benzema and Ronaldo), we can cause the upset. Hala Madrid!

Jamaal Tinsley learning his role with Grizzlies
La Bomba replied to La Bomba's topic in Memphis Grizzlies Team Forum
He's been our best point guard so far. As long as he continues to play well and not cause any problems. I'm alright with the signing. -
The new man looks like Larry Porter.

One of the few things Ivaroni did well last season was just that. He started Kyle Lawrey over Conley to start the season and Conley started to play better and eventually he took the starting job and had a great second half of the season. I don't see Hollins doing this because he insists Mayo is a not a point guard.
-
Best game we have played all season. The first half went great and we started to fall asleep a little in the second half but we still secured the win. Gasol ate Oden alive in the first half and everyone other than Mike Conley, as usual, had a good game. Jammal Tinsley played really well off the bench with 16 and 5. Heck, even Hasheem Thabeet had arguably his best game of the season. That is two good games in a row by Thabeet so he is making some progress.

Possibly, but Mayo wouldn't take 20 shots. Lately he has been passive and passing the ball a lot even though he doesn't have the assist numbers to refleact it. Moving Mayo to point would mean he has the ball in his hands a lot more, something he hasn't been had lately. I would like Young to start because he could bring a solid 10-11 points and play solid defense, which Iverson can't do.
-
Move Mayo to the position he has played his entire life and the position he told the team he wanted to play when he was drafted. Conley sucks. The Conley that we saw after the All-Star break last year has disappeared. He isn't aggressive, he's passive on both sides of the ball, and he is ineffective. I think we have a better chance to win if we move Mayo to point and put Sam Young in the starting lineup. You are probably scratching your head wondering why in the hell would a second round pick become our starter. Simple, Sam young has been great off then bench and plays harder on both sides of the ball than Conley does. Mayo has been struggling as well. I'm starting to think Mayo is overrated, but I can also understand his struggles because he hasn't been playing his original position. He started to struggle when Hollins was hired and I think part of the reason is because Hollins never plays Mayo at point, while Ivaroni did. I'm confused because this team is a complete mess. I see teams like the Blazers and the Thunder and I see all the things we do wrong, they do it right. This team needs changes across the board starting with the management, coaching staff, and players.

I wouldn't say Europe is out of the question yet. He said that he seriously considered it before. -

When the Orange lost to Division II Le Moyne College, many Syracuse fans saw that as a preview for the upcoming season. After loosing starters Jonny Flynn, Eric Devendorf, and Paul Harris to the draft, this season was supposed to be a good, not great year. Many fans were already waiting for next season and the great upcoming recruiting class to arrive. The Orange won their first two games against low tier opponents, Richmond and Albany, by an average margin of 32 points, but that was nothing more than the expected. The challenges were about to begin against the top teams in the 2K Sports Classic. After sitting out all last season with a stress facture, redshirt sophomore Scoop Jardine lead the team in assists and points and lead the upset against then No. 12 ranked California. The Orange scored 93 points in the blowout victory, but Syracuse coach Jim Boeheim thinks the offense can be even better. Last season, the Orange missed arguably the two most important players to this season’s success, Scoop Jardine and Iowa State Transfer, Weasley Johnson. Wasley Johnson, the Corsicana, Texas native, has been a very pleasant surprise so far this season. After averaging a little over 12 PPG in his two seasons at Iowa State before transfering, Johnson has seen a steady increase in statistical production across the board. The combo forward has done a little bit of everything for the Orange leading the team in points, rebounds, and blocks. His versatility across the board has been key to the Orange’s success. With a solid inside and outside game, Johnson has shown he can play both forward positions despite his lanky build. Johnson is currently ranked second for the team in 3 point percentage and is averaging nearly two three pointers per game. The team’s most noticeable sharp shooter this year has been senior Andy Rautins. Last season’s sixth man has been looked to as the team’s leader and has responded well shooting a good field goal percentage and taking much smarter shots. Last season, Rautins was looked to as the shooter off the bench to provide relief in the guard positions. Rautins would often move around to get a good three point line and shoot whenever he got the ball. This season, Rautins is still a shooter and is still much more comfortable shooting the three ball, but has looked like a much better passer and a player that is much more relaxed handling the ball. Against then No. 4 ranked North Carolina, Rautins caused havoc on both sides of the ball having a very balanced game with 11 points, seven rebounds, and seven steals. Rautins’ seven steals were part of the 18 TOs caused by the Syracuse defense. After the defense not showing up against California, Jim Boeheim’s trademark 2-3 zone lead the second half lock down of a young and talented North Carolina Tar Heels. The guard play for the Orange has been excellent, but the post has looked spectacle at times. Senior Arinze Onuaku has looked much better running the floor and is getting good production offensively, but his rebounding numbers have been subpar for a starting center that has been averaging a little over seven rebounds per game the last two seasons prior to this one. Syracuse has not really been in many close games, so Onuaku is also not averaging as many minutes to begin the season. Overall, the Orange have looked like one of the most impressive teams in the start the season. The offense has been productive and have impressive, blowout victories over ranked opponents. If the Orange continue their intensity on the offensive end and show the same defense they showed against North Carolina, do not be surprised if you hear talk about this team come tourney time.

Mayo sucks with Hollins. He does nothing. Speaking of Hollins, fire him. He can't coach. He doesn't know when to call time outs, his substitutions suck, our defense is horrendous, and it's just painful to watch this team play.

Phoenix's pick and roll offense is killing the Grizzlies everywhere.
-
I hate the Grizzlies play-by-play announcers. They're the biggest homers in the league. I love Marc as much as anyone, but they just said that "not only should Marc be an all-star candidate, but an MVP candidate." smh...
-
From what I'm seeing, the Suns thrive at what exacally the Grizzlies can't do, which is sharing the ball. We have a lead, but both defenses have been nonexistent.
-
The Grizzlies are the laziest defensive team in the league. They are just letting anyone penetrate whenever they want.

Breaking news: Allen Iverson retires

I went to the game last night. Our offense struggled to open the game up and than got hot from behind the arc. Central Arkansas played a lot of 2-3 zone and we really hurt them with our three point shooting. This is the first game in a while where the Tigers have actually shot well from behind the arc the entire game. Elliot Williams is going to be a POY candidate once he gets a jumper and starts sharing the ball more. He takes stupid shots early in the shot clock a lot. His defense is great and is by far our best perimeter defender. He made four threes last night, but his release is still awkward and he misses a bunch. He penetrates as well as anyone I have seen and once he improves his jumper, he'll be a good NBA prospect IMO.
