  10. The Warriors have signed Harrison Barnes to a contract http://www.nba.com/warriors/sites/warriors/files/barnessigned_300x379.jpg The Golden State Warriors have signed Harrison Barnes, whom the club selected with the seventh overall selection in last week’s NBA Draft, to a contract, the team announced today. Per team policy, terms of the deal were not released. Barnes, 20, was an early entry candidate for the 2012 NBA Draft after playing two seasons at the University of North Carolina. A two-time All-Atlantic Coast Conference selection, Barnes appeared in 71 games during his collegiate career, averaging 16.4 points, 5.5 rebounds, 1.3 assists and 1.0 steals in 31.0 minutes per contest, while shooting 43.1% from the field, 73.4% from the line and 34.9% from three-point range. Last season, the 6’8’’ forward averaged a team-leading 17.1 points per game (ranked third in the ACC) en route to being named First-Team All-ACC. During his freshman season (2010-11), Barnes earned ACC Rookie of the Year honors and All-ACC Second-Team accolades after averaging 15.7 points, 5.8 rebounds and 1.4 assists. http://www.nba.com/warriors/news/barnes_signed_070312

  12. NBA PM: Chris Paul Committed to Clippers When free agency opened on Sunday, Chris Paul was one of the first players to receive a contract offer. The Los Angeles Clippers contacted him almost immediately, offering a three-year, $60 million extension. While Paul turned down the offer, it doesn’t mean his days in Los Angeles are numbered. The 27-year-old will put off signing a new contract until next July, when he’s eligible to ink a five-year, $110-million extension with the Clippers. While there has already been speculation that Paul will bolt to join fellow 2013 unrestricted free agent Dwight Howard on a new team such as the Atlanta Hawks or Houston Rockets, the superstar point guard seems committed to the Clippers. Even though he didn’t put pen to paper, he’s going about his business as if he expects to be in Los Angeles for years to come. Over the past three days, Paul has been aggressively recruiting for the Clippers, contacting free agents and attempting to sell them on the situation. His pitch has been convincing, with talk about the promising future in Los Angeles and opportunity to compete for a championship. While most players have one foot out the door as free agency looms, Paul is working the phones and planning face-to-face meetings with potential teammates. Full Story
