  7. A song that perfectly describes this NBA season:
  8. David Stern: Hornets deal close Updated: April 5, 2012, 8:41 SALT LAKE CITY -- Commissioner David Stern said Wednesday night the NBA is close to finalizing a deal to keep the Hornets in New Orleans with a very favorable lease, important capital improvements, intense tax benefits and a new television deal. Stern made the comments before Utah's game against Phoenix. He's in Salt Lake City for a luncheon that in part will honor late Jazz owner Larry H. Miller. Stern prefaced his comments by telling a joke, saying "soon" when asked about the Hornets' deal. But he said the league was in intense negotiations with three groups. He was hopeful he could tell team owners at a meeting next week the deal was done, close or that he was on the verge of a deal. Stern also said he was more "hopeful than confident" the situation regarding Sacramento's arena would be resolved to keep the Kings from moving. "I'm very, very hopeful that it gets on track because I think the owners have a respect for the Maloofs, and I think the owners also have an enormous respect for what Sacramento has done over the years in supporting an NBA franchise," Stern said. "It's always been our first preference ... to keep a team where they're at if they're playing in a good facility." David Stern: Hornets deal close
  9. Let the debate begin: Growing Victims Unit Kobe on Griffin's dunk on Pau: "It was a legitimate dunk," Bryant said of the slam on Gasol. "It was a helluva basketball play. But two points is two points." (No foul?) "I don't think so." http://hoopshype.com/twitter/tag/los_angeles_lakers
  10. So did I. Blake Stone was the ish before Duke came out!!
  11. The talent on the Clippers is unquestionable, with players like Chris Paul, Blake Griffin and DeAndre Jordan giving fans hope that the team could become a contender for years to come. Maybe next season the team will figure out a way to stay consistent on the court and finally take down the Lakers, but this doesn't look like it is going to turn into a great year for the Clippers. What this brings to mind is how similar the Clippers are to the once impressive Sacramento Kings from about 11 years ago. The Kings had performed splendidly in the Western Conference, even winning the Pacific division with an impressive 61-21 record in the 2001-02 season. They clinched the No. 1 seed in the West, just one year after finishing just behind the Lakers in the regular season. Chris Webber led that team, which would lose in the first round of the 2000 playoffs, the second round of the 2001 playoffs and then the 2002 Western Conference finals. All three times they got eliminated by a Lakers team that would win the NBA title. It has been a while since another California team stepped up to compete well against the Lakers, but the Clippers are falling into that same role that the Kings once played. It looks like the Clippers will provide a nice competitive opponent to the Lakers, possibly even forcing them to work hard in the NBA Playoffs, but never quite doing enough to get past the team with the most titles in history. Bryant, Bynum and Pau Gasol get made even better by Ramon Sessions, possibly giving the Lakers enough weapons to win another title (or two). The Kings never emerged from the vast shadow that the Lakers cast upon them, but maybe the Clippers can figure out a way to overcome the real draw at Staples Center next year. L.A. Clippers Turning into New Sacramento Kings Agreed. Should the Clippers stay together and stay healthy, they won't have problems with the Lakers 1-2 years from now. There'll be a Clippers-Thunder matchup at the WCF. Year in, year out.

Game #55: LAC @ SAC 93-85 // (Record: 33-22, 4th West) http://www.otrbasketball.com/forums/public/style_images/clean/team_reps/lac.png @ http://www.otrbasketball.com/forums/public/style_images/clean/team_reps/sac.png Led by Randy Foye's 20 points, the Clippers surged late to beat the Kings in Sacramento. Chris Paul added 18 points and Caron Butler and Blake Griffin each had 14 in the first of two straight games between the two teams.
  16. Kobe Bryant‘s having a good week, especially if you just tune into the last few minutes of Lakers games (and forget his first 15 shots against the Hornets on Saturday). In Wednesday’s big win over the Clippers, Bryant hit two clutch jumpers, one to give the Lakers the lead with 3:02 left and another to seal the victory with 25 seconds on the clock. A night earlier, he pretty much did the same thing against the Nets with two jumpers in the final 1:11. Two nights before that, in Sunday’s win over the Warriors, Bryant hit a big 3-pointer in the final two minutes. And back on Saturday, after missing those first 15 shots, he hit the game-winner with 20 seconds left. Now, go back to last Tuesday, when Bryant hit the game-tying jumper, and then another to give the Lakers the lead in the final minute at Golden State. Five wins in six games for the Lakers, and eight straight makes for Bryant in clutch time. KOBE’S CLUTCH AGAIN
  17. Agreed, Barcelona and Real Madrid are arguably the best soccer teams right now, but EPL >> La Liga. The Spanish League is roughly a two-team show.
