  2. HANG TIME HEADQUARTERS – Let the case of Nuggets big man Kenneth Faried be a lesson to all NBA rookies fortunate enough to be drafted by a playoff-caliber team that doesn’t need him in the starting lineup from the first day of training camp. Faried was in the shadows at the start of this season, unsure of his role and whether or not he would spend his season with the Nuggets or with their D-League affiliate. If you weren’t careful, you’d have forgotten he was even on the roster the first few weeks of the season. Faried played in just three games through the end of January. Since then, however, the man known as “Manimal” since his college days, has been one of the most consistently outstanding rookies in the league. (That would explain his lofty perch on my main man Drew Packham‘s Rookie Ladder.) It’s obvious Faried didn’t fret when he wasn’t in the rotation. He kept his head down, kept working and earned the respect of Nuggets coach George Karl and his teammates with his non-stop energy and effort and a relentless approach that fans anywhere should appreciate. 3. http://philadunkia.com/wp-content/uploads/2012/04/76erscrystalball-300x260.jpg The win over Atlanta on Saturday night brought the 76ers record to 29-23, which currently has them sitting in 2nd place in the Atlantic Division — one game behind the Boston Celtics. The 7-6 are 4-4 in their last eight games and they have not won two in a row since early March. Collins & Co. are 9-14 since Valentine’s Day and 9-9 since the All-Star break. To say that the Sixers have been hard to figure out of late is an understatement. But here at Philadunkia.com we’re going to give it he old college try and attempt to predict what kind of results this roller coaster team will produce over the last fourteen games of the season. If you have been watching the Sixers over the last two months, you realize that this is no easy task. After the jump, here we go… Continue Reading>>>

  7. RANDY FOYE MATCHES QUENTIN RICHARDSON’S RECORD FOR 3-POINTERS MADE http://www.nba.com/clippers/photos/post-670-120402.jpg Three-pointer number eight on the night for Randy Foye must have come as somewhat of a surprise. The Clippers guard was having a career-shooting night from deep and with the Mavericks scrambling to make a comeback, Foye spotted up on the left wing, one of his favorite areas on the perimeter, only to see Dirk Nowitzki run the opposite direction to cover Blake Griffin in the paint. Nowitzki seemed to think teammate Delonte West would rotate over to Foye, but when West stayed at the top of the key, Foye obliged the open look, knocking down his eighth 3-pointer in 14 tries to match a Clipper franchise record. He went on to finish 8-for-15 from distance, missing his final attempt in L.A.’s emphatic 94-75 win, scoring a season-high 28 points. “Whatever the defense gave me I took,” Foye said. “I was just knocking down shots.” Knocking down shots might be an understatement. Only once before has legendary Clippers broadcaster Ralph Lawler called “Biiingo” eight times for a single player in a game, when small forward Quentin Richardson made 8 of his 11 3-pointers at Boston on Feb. 4, 2004. For the Clippers, it was exactly what they needed coming into Dallas with the chance to take the season series and gain a game of separation in the Western Conference standings. “I know [Foye] had it on his mind the last time we came and played here, a lot of us did,” said Griffin referencing the Clippers four-point loss to Dallas in February. “For him to come out and perform that way is special.” According to Foye, Griffin’s presence on the floor had a lot to do with his open looks. “I was just being aggressive,” Foye said. “That was my main thing was to just come out and be aggressive. They were cracking down on Blake when he was driving and it opened up lanes, and I was just feeling it.” Foye’s first 3-pointer came at the 8:15 mark of the first quarter off a feed from Griffin, giving the Clippers a 7-4 lead. He proceeded to make one more before halftime, but erupted in the third quarter, making four 3-pointers as well as a layup. In the fourth, with Dallas desperate to turn things around, Foye provided somewhat of a dagger. He made two shots from behind the arc in 58 seconds, including his eighth with not a Maverick near him, leading to a timeout from a disgruntled Rick Carlisle. Full Story

Blake Griffin. Griffin notched his 33rd double-double of the season and helped stymie any chance of a Mavericks rally with a monster put back dunk and a spinning bank shot in the fourth quarter. He finished with 15 points and 16 rebounds and made seven of his 11 field goal attempts.
