  1. ANOTHER OT, BABY!! That's like Atlanta's second OT game in three nights.
  2. Bulls first to reach 40 wins, lock up playoff spot Posted Mar 25 2012 2:20PM CHICAGO (AP) -- The Chicago Bulls are in the postseason. They're the first team to lock up a playoff berth and reach 40 victories. Their success is no surprise after they led the NBA with 62 regular-season victories last season and had both the MVP in Derrick Rose and coach of the year in Tom Thibodeau. But this season they've maneuvered through a series of injuries and still found a way to post the NBA's best mark with 16 games left in the regular season. Rose missed his sixth straight game Saturday night with a groin injury and has been unable to go 16 times this season with an assortment of injuries, including earlier ones to a sprained left toe and sore back. 3. Timberwolves' Peković out several days with ankle injury Posted Mar 25 2012 3:40PM MINNEAPOLIS (AP) -- The Minnesota Timberwolves will be without center Nikola Pekovic until at least Friday because of bone spurs in his right ankle. Pekovic missed the final two games of the previous road trip and the home game Sunday against Denver. He will also miss games at Memphis and Charlotte on Tuesday and Wednesday. Pekovic says he hopes to play Friday against Boston. Pekovic is averaging 13.5 points and 7.4 rebounds this season. He says doctors have told him that the bone spurs are the result of ankle injuries when he was a younger player. He plans to play as many games as he can over the final month of the season and could need surgery this summer. That decision will be made once the season is over. Source
  4. Denver's Afflalo suspended one game for elbow shot
  5. The Spurs are playing their third game in as many nights, so a healthy Tim Duncan will rest. But it causes a problem inside for San Antonio because backup Tiago Splitter will miss his third game because of mid-back spasms. Boris Diaw, acquired late last week after his contract buyout at Charlotte, will start. That gives the Spurs a frontcourt of the 6-8 Diaw and 6-7 DeJuan Blair (who scored 23 points in 25 minutes last night in a victory at New Orleans). http://tbt.blogs.nba.com/2012/03/25/76ers-at-spurs-7-p-m-et/
  6. Stu Jackson just issued a statement that the NBA has suspended Blake Griffin for 15 games and has fined him $2,500,000 for the unsportsmanlike flop. Said Jackson, "In all my years as a player, coach and executive in the NBA, I've never see anything so diabolical, especially the way Griffin willed himself to fly and roll in order to elicit sympathy and make himself look like the victim. But we in the commissioner's office are wise to Griffin's socio-pathic machinations." Jackson also stated that NBA doctors have examined Jason Smith's shoulder. He is under sedation and round-the-clock observation. For the time being, the New Orleans Hornets forward is "resting comfortably". Jackson also noted that the league may not be done dealing with Griffin. Jackson said that Griffin may be stripped off of his 2011 Slam Dunk championship title, and that Griffin himself may be banned for life under the new "basketball reasons" clause of the amended NBA "super-secret" internal guidelines. Jackson and David Stern are expected to rule on the matter when the second full "basketball reasons" committee convenes on April 1st. The other members of that committee are Mark Cuban, Dan Gilbert, and Ray Allen, as the player representative.
  7. Ray Allen will miss his second straight game with a sore right ankle. The starting shooting guard will also miss tomorrow night’s game in Charlotte according to head coach Doc Rivers and had an MRI on his ankle over the weekend. Avery Bradley will get the start in Allen’s place, returning to action after missing the second half of Friday’s loss against Philadelphia with a tweaked left ankle. http://tbt.blogs.nba.com/2012/03/25/wizards-at-celtics-600-p-m-et/
  8. New Orleans Hornets forward Jason Smith trucked Los Angeles Clippers All-Star forward Blake Griffin, and now he's paying for it. The NBA announced on Friday that Smith has been suspended for two games for the flagrant foul 2 he leveled against Griffin on Thursday night. ESPN.com first reported the terms of the suspension. Smith's hit occurred during the fourth quarter when Griffin attacked the basket in transition. Smith raced back to play defense but, unable to get in between Griffin and the hoop, he opted to simply bodycheck him at full speed, knocking Griffin to the ground. (...) Smith, 26, is averaging 8.7 points and 4.2 rebounds in 22.0 minutes per game for the Hornets this season. Smith is on the books this season for $2.5 million. A 2-game suspension without pay equates to roughly $75,000 if calculated at a pro-rated level over this 66-game season. During the 2010-2011 season, then Portland Trail Blazers guard Andre Miller was suspended one game for bodyslamming Griffin in a similar manner. Source
  9. On This Date in Clippers History: -->>MARCH 25th<<-- Game 71: LAC @ SAS 88-97 (21-50, 5th Pacific) March 25th 2008 Corey Maggette's Postgame Quotes:On his injuries:“I’m just fighting through it. My shoulder is messed up really bad. Yesterday against Dallas I banged up the back of my leg. I didn’t have any explosion even just to jump off that leg or to sprint hard down the court. I didn’t even know if I was going to go tonight. I’m just trying to push it out the best I can.” On how it affected his shot: “It was really tough as it is because I can’t jump off my leg, and my shoulder isn’t 100%, so I’m really favoring one side. It’s been a big struggle just to angle up on free throw. I’ve just been trying to concentrate more. I’m not really worried about the shots…but the free throws are my bread and butter, and I just haven’t been making those the last three or four games.”
