  14. Seattle's NBA dreams may come at Sacramento's expense http://i.cdn.turner.com/nba/nba/2012/news/features/david_aldridge/02/13/morning-tip-linsanity/key-arena-608.jpg Seattle will have to finance and build a new arena if it wants to bring the NBA back to the Emerald City. There will be a reckoning, one way or the other, in the next three weeks, that will determine the fate of the Sacramento Kings and the city of Seattle. I hate this. People that I like are going to be hurt, one way or another: either good fans in what has been a great NBA town, Sacramento, or fans in Seattle whose team was ripped from their hearts, and now seek to do the same to someone else. Four years after the Sonics left town, Seattle's again hoping that it will have a team, and soon. The issue, then as now, is a new arena. The Commish will not even have a meeting with you if you don't have a new arena in your back pocket. And Christopher Hansen, a hedge fund manager from San Francisco and a Seattle native, thinks he can get a building built in downtown Seattle. He's bought land in downtown, near where the NFL's Seahawks and MLB's Mariners play. The reason Hansen's plan is relevant is that the Kings and the city of Sacramento have two and a half weeks to come up with their own plan for a new building in downtown Sacramento. If they can't reach agreement, the Kings would be a team without an arena, leaving the team's owners, the Maloof Family, with a hard decision: stay at Power Balance Pavilion, which can't produce enough revenue; sell, which the principal owners, Joe and Gavin Maloof, are dead set against, or move the team. 15. Ode on a Running Back http://www.freegums.com/muralmadnessextravaganza/images/ricky_williams.jpg When Ricky Williams was traded to Miami in 2002, I did not yet fully understand what a running back could be. I was a Dolphin fan by blood, raised by my family to idolize Dan Marino; raised by Marino to view football as a primarily aerial endeavor and stardom as an easy stroll along Hollywood beach at sunset. There were only two seasons between the end of Marino and the beginning of Ricky Williams— seasons that saw the Dolphins quietly reinvent themselves as a defensive powerhouse while fans settled in to wait for the heir apparent. It wasn’t Damon Huard, nor was it Jay Fiedler (much to my dismay). Brian Griese couldn’t hack it and Daunte Culpepper, who unlike the others arrived with actual expectations in tow, was a bust. Meanwhile, Ricky. He sure as hell wasn’t replacing Dan Marino, but that was the whole point. Where Marino was big grins, long bombs, and Jet Skis, Ricky was mirrored face mask, spiteful stiff-arms, and eventually, surreptitious bong rips. A decade before Milton Bradley wore earplugs in left field, Ricky isolated himself by wearing his helmet during postgame interviews. His nerves were no more a natural fit in Miami than they were in New Orleans. The very notion of a bruising halfback with social anxiety disorder as the heir to Marino was so silly as to be unthinkable. Full Story

  18. I went to the box score, and yeah, it does actually 'say' that Rasual Butler didn't play. Obviously it's a huge contradiction. Since he did commit a turnover, isn't it right he got listed on the box score like 0:01 of PT? I mean, you gotta register that TO somewhere....
  19. 2004-'05: Maggette's Double-OT Off-Balance Game-Winner vs Miami (January 14th, 2005 // LAC - MIA 114:112** -- F // **2 OT's) Corey Maggette's off-balance 23-footer with 0.5 second left in the second overtime gave the Los Angeles Clippers a 114-112 victory over the Heat. His dramatic shot from the right sideline overshadowed a 39-pt, 10-reb performance by Miami's Shaquille O'Neal.: http://clippers.topbuzz.com/albums/corey-maggette/maggette_capt_las10601150656_heat_clippers_las106.jpg http://clippers.topbuzz.com/albums/corey-maggette/sotw_maggette_050117.jpg Lots of pressure, 23-footer, fadeaway, double OT and falling out of bounds on the right sideline with Shandon Anderson in his face... Corey Maggette probably made the biggest shot of his career (so far): NBC Sports Recap http://i42.tinypic.com/10i8gib.png

  22. A secret chapter of the ancient 'Pimp-a-Rag' papyrus has been found near the Nile Delta of Egypt. According to its mysterious prophecy, a Buffalo Braves supporter, known in O.T.R.'s underground chambers as 'Šhãłïq', would post it sometime around 2007 A.D. That's like 29 moons before the 2009 disaster... So Šhãłïq is afraid the original thread writing has been lost.
