  1. Great win for the Dubs! Curry and Lee both reached 1k career assists.
  2. Hey, I hate Dallas and Boston too.

  3. ORL wouldn't do it. And here's what Dwight will do: http://wagesofwins.com/wp-content/uploads/2012/02/dwight-decision1.png
  4. According to recent reports, the Clippers and the Knicks have significant interest in signing Smith. He'll be back in the US tomorrow: http://clippertalk.com/sites/default/files/styles/large/public/field/image/Screen%20Shot%202012-02-12%20at%2012.52.43%20PM.png

  9. ^ The GK had no chance. BTW, those Levante unis look just like Barça's.
  10. I'm not a Lakers fan but I LOVE L.A. and it hurts me that the Lakers' supporting cast, sadly, is really really bad. It's awful. (No pun, Laker fans.)

  12. Sadly, New Zealand club soccer is kind of overlooked these days. <_< And the Wellington Phoenix participated in the FIFA Club World Cup twice recently. They beat Mazembe a few years ago.
  13. Saw it on one other forum: http://i43.tinypic.com/dxbnkl.png There are eight teams with a single player (LAL, TOR, OKC, MIN, DAL, LAC, MIL and MIA). Some are understandable: Ron Artest 'Metta World Peace' is generally undervalued by the model as his contributions are difficult to measure. The Lakers get a bye for keeping the Peace. Perkins is in a similar category for Oklahoma City. 'Cookie' is tenth on the rotation for the Clippers and can be considered a warm body at the moment. Wesley Johnson is young and can still grow for the T'wolves. Norris Cole gets the same pass for the Heat. Lamar is missing the beach obviously and playing way below standard in Dallas. Don’t expect this to continue indefinitely. The last two in this group (Jackson for the Bucks and DeRozan for the Raptors) are indefensible. 'Cpt. Jack' shouldn't be number 2 on the depth chart for a team with playoff hopes at this point in his career. As for DeRozan? If he is your number 1 option in the rotation, you're in serious trouble. Then again, sadly this is an old story for the Raps. Six teams appear with two players on the list: New York: Amare, who I will continue to argue, is miscast totally in the 'Melo iso show and could be decent with a better PG, like Toney Douglas who is probably jobless. Detroit: A rookie (Knight) and yet another warm body (Daye). Cleveland: It could be argued that they need to have Jamison out there to sell. Mychel Thompson falls under the warm body category to me. Houston: A rookie deep in the rotation (Morris) and a player in Scola who seems to be in a precipitous decline. New Jersey: Two bench players on a bad team in Shawnee Williams and Okur who like Scola may be in rapid decline. Orlando: On behalf of all Celtic fans, I’d like to thank the Magic front office for taking Baby off our hands. God bless you and protect you. You’ll need it. Larry Hughes is there collecting a paycheck. The last two teams on this list are just horrible with three and four players in the chart: The 'Cats, my lord, they are a mess. Tyrus Thomas probably needs out of the Queen City. Byron Mullens is another unknown quantity so they might as well play him. Higgins is a rookie deep in the rotation and given the talent drought on this team they should really be playing him more to see if they got anything. My ol' friends the Wizards, have two players in Nick Young and Jordan Crawford who at this point, based on the data, will not ever reach the level expected from a reserve on a decent team. Andray Blatche might reach that level but he should not be drawing more than the NBA minimum. At the end of the lesson, what can be assumed? There are some key reasons why these lovable losers get playing time on these teams. Most are understandable (or at least come with a good story): they’re defensive contributors on good teams, they’re having an off year, they’re losing the battle with Father Time, they’re dealing with injuries, they’re inexperienced rookies or unknown quantities getting their shot at the big time. There’s only a few cases of truly bad management in the bunch. To me, the Raptors, Magic and the Wizards are all guilty of throwing good money after bad and doing it consistently year in and year out. They pay, play and trade for bad players. Where I a fan of these teams I would be very pessimistic about the near future prospects of my team.

  16. Game #25, LAC @ CHA 111-86, (17-8, 3rd West) http://www.nba.com/clippers/photos/laccha-120211-13.jpg Wearing their ABA Hardwood Classics uniforms, the Clippers took down the Bobcats 111-86 in Charlotte on Saturday night. Chris Paul led the way with 18 points and 14 assists while both Blake Griffin (21 points, 10 rebounds) and DeAndre Jordan (11 points, 12 boards) added double-doubles Griffin leads the NBA with 70 dunks this year.
  17. 2011-'12: CP3's Game-Winner vs Philly (February 11th, 2012 // LAC @ PHI 78:77) http://i43.tinypic.com/f1a90o.png Paul’s careening game-clinching shot that upended the Atlantic Division-leading 76ers was something unusually spectacular. “That was incredible,” 76ers head coach Doug Collins said. “Andre Iguodala played him, couldn’t play him any better. He hits a fade away jump shot. There must have been three or four times they fell on the floor with the ball and scrummed it out, and got it out, and it was a wonderful play.” The play was initiated with an inbound pass from Caron Butler to Paul with 18 seconds left and the Clippers trailing by one. w What came next was hardly by design. Paul dribbled into the lane, being hounded by Iguodala, one of the game’s premier perimeter defenders, and after picking up his dribbled dropped a bounce pass at the feet of Blake Griffin, who was posting Elton Brand on the right block. The ball bounced between Griffin’s legs, he stretched to pick it up and as he turned, began falling to the floor. “That’s one of the weirdest plays I’ve ever been a part of in my basketball career,” Brand said. “Blake Griffin’s on the ground with the ball on his knees. I actually thought he was going to shoot it from the ground. We have to get to those loose balls. Then when Chris got the ball back again, Andre played great defense on him the first time, but Chris was just able to hit that amazing shot at the end.” From his backside Griffin had the presence of mind to rifle a desperation pass out top to Kenyon Martin. The new Clipper big man turned to his right and handed it back to Paul with about nine seconds on the clock. “That almost turned out to be ugly,” Paul added. “I threw the ball between Blake Griffin’s legs. I thought it would be a turnover, so thank you Blake Griffin for diving for the ball. Without him, we don’t win the game. I looked up at the clock and saw that I had a second chance at life. I had missed like two or three of those in the fourth quarter with the shot clock running that hit the back of the rim. Got to keep shooting. Luckily it finally went in." As if in tune with each tick, Paul dribbled Iguodala from the right wing into the lane, stopped just past the free throw line, stumbled slightly as he turned away from the hoop, stepped back to 16-feet and drilled a perfect fadeaway over his long-armed defender. Three and two tenths of a second remained. Clippers 78, Sixers 77. Relive this amazing shot: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=qDA1hAfgZ84

Stars, 111-86, on Hardwood Classics night in Charlotte. http://www.nba.com/bobcats/photos/120211_clippers_02.jpg NOTE: Corey has now got 12,712 career pts.
  19. Damned, Corey! Why would you do that?! I guess his hands were quicker than his eyes. Sh*t happens.
  20. One of the reasons why the Bobcats are currently with the league's worst record - veteran FW Corey Maggette missed 19 games (strained hamstring): http://i44.tinypic.com/ziuh5v.png Now that he's back, and coach Silas is starting him, the Bobcats will for sure finish above Philadelphia's .110 pct.

  22. Yanks Abroad: Alex Smith’s Up-and-Down Season Down Under US midfielder Alex Smith, right, plays for the Wellington Phoenix, New Zealand’s only entry in the A-League, the game’s top level in Australia http://graphics8.nytimes.com/images/2012/02/07/sports/soccer/phoenix/phoenix-thumbStandard.jpg As Australia’s A-League season enters the final stretch, the Wellington Phoenix’s American midfielder Alex Smith is enjoying a remarkable comeback while aiming to lead the New Zealand-based club to its first championship. Smith, 26, has had a season that has its seen peaks and valleys. Last year, Smith was signed by the A-League club Gold Coast United after strong seasons with lower-league teams in Australia. During the preseason with Gold Coast, Smith sustained a minor injury and the club bought out his contract to make way for the Dutch striker Maceo Rigters. Under A-League rules, clubs are limited to five foreign players and Gold Coast’s only way to make room for Rigters was to delete Smith. http://goal.blogs.nytimes.com/2012/02/07/yanks-abroad-alex-smiths-up-and-down-season-down-under/
