Will these players be top 10 all time when they're done?
Sħãlïq™ replied to kingfish's topic in General NBA Discussion
Some of them will. At least half of them probably. I see LeBron and Durant up there. For sure. Dwight Howard will most probably finish close. And I don't think 'Melo and Wade will make it. As for Chris Paul -- he won't be Top 10 All-Time for sure. CP3 is overrated. He might make the Top 10 Assists Leaders cut, but that's a different story. <_< Šhãłïq's prediction looks like that: Pos. Player Points 1. Kareem ABDUL-JABBAR 38,387 2. Karl MALONE 36,928 3. Michael JORDAN 32,292 4. Kobe BRYANT (currently 28,628 // 25.4 PPG) 5. Wilt CHAMBERLAIN 31,419 6. LeBron JAMES (currently 18,075 // 27.7 PPG Career // 60th All-Time) 7. Shaquille O'NEAL 28,596 8. Kevin DURANT (currently 8,837 // 26 PPG career) 9. Moses MALONE 27,409 10. Elvin HAYES 27,313 ---------------------------------------------- 11. Carmelo ANTHONY (currently 15,172 // 116th All-Time) 12. Dwyane WADE (currently 14,282 // 25.3 PPG career // 139th All-Time) 13. Hakeem OLAJUWON* 26,946 14. Dwight HOWARD* (currently 10,869 // 18.3 PPG career) *The Howard-Hakeem battle will be a close one. I won't be surprised if DH12 eventually surpass Hakeem. This applies for MJ23-KB24 too. As for Chris Paul -- he will be in the Top 15 for Assists though. And I think he'll finish ahead of Tony Parker, LeBron and Jason Terry: 72. Chris Paul 4,391 All-Time Career Leaders: Assists -
HOUSTON -- Houston will once again play host to a constellation of the world's brightest stars as it has been selected as the site of NBA All-Star 2013, the NBA announced today. The 62nd NBA All-Star Game will be played on Sunday, Feb. 17, at the Toyota Center, which will also host the NBA Rising Stars Challenge and NBA All-Star Saturday Night presented by State Farm. NBA All-Star Jam Session, the hugely successful interactive basketball celebration, will be held at the George R. Brown Convention Center. "Houston is a spectacular sports city, and for one week it will be the basketball capital of the world," said NBA Commissioner David Stern. "NBA All-Star is a magnificent celebration of our game, and I want to thank the city and the Rockets for welcoming us once again." The 2013 game will mark the third NBA All-Star celebration in Houston. The city also hosted the event in 1989 and in 2006. "I am thrilled the Rockets and the City of Houston have once again brought NBA All-Star to Toyota Center," said Houston Rockets owner Leslie Alexander. "The All-Star Game showcases the best basketball players in the world and will allow our great Rockets fans and the entire community the opportunity to once again experience the best that our league has to offer. The 2006 All-Star Game in Houston was a tremendous success and we plan to set the bar even higher in 2013. We take great pride in Toyota Center's standing as one of the premier venues in the country and are honored to be the first arena in Texas to host the game for a second time." Official Release

Shaq picks Griffin on his team Besides being selected a starter for the Western Conference All-Stars, Clippers power forward Blake Griffin will join a list of 18 players who will play in the Rising Stars Challenge, to be played on Feb. 24 during the All-Star weekend in Orlando. Rather than have a rookies-versus-sophomores game as in past years, those groups will be mixed together. TNT analysts Charles Barkley and Shaquille O'Neal will coach the teams. O'Neal won the coin flip for the draft to earn the first overall pick during TNT's "Inside the NBA" announcement of the NBA All-Star reserves on Thursday. It was clear from O'Neal's comments who he was picking first: "Blake Griffin, let's go get this trophy," O'Neal said. "Let's go get it, Blake." Source

Kenyon Martin Agrees to sign with Clippers
Sħãlïq™ replied to Abro's topic in Los Angeles Clippers Team Forum
Martin's arrival takes a solemn turn http://a.espncdn.com/photo/2012/0208/la_u_martin_b1_600.jpg CLEVELAND -- Kenyon Martin sat alone. While his new teammates, most of whom he had just met 48 hours earlier opted to address their various needs, Martin merely sat back in a folding chair, shirtless, with his street clothes hanging above him. While this may have been the path Martin chose to take, it was one that had been augmented by circumstances well beyond his control. Two lockers to Martin’s left stood barren quarters, housing only a chair and a nameplate. The blue-and-white decal placed on the locker door read “1 - Billups,” signifying where his friend-turned-recruiter would have been sitting had it not been for a freak, non-contact injury (a torn Achilles' tendon) that would in turn end the veteran point guard’s season. It was Chauncey Billups who had played a major role in getting Martin to Los Angeles, citing a “friend-to-friend” conversation that encapsulated organizational philosophy as well as the potential for winning a championship. The two veterans would be joining up with arguably the league’s best point guard (Chris Paul) as well as the league’s most exciting power forward (Blake Griffin), but this would be their chance to win together. http://images.icanhascheezburger.com/completestore/2009/3/2/128805261271368443.jpg Hmmm, you've probably missed some games this season. Let me help: Welcome to Blake’s Block Party "The evolution of Blake Griffin continues to take place with each passing game. His transformation has been a steady process that might be difficult to catch with the naked eye, but can always be seen through the numbers. Griffin’s progression into becoming an all-around dominating player seems to be a step closer now that he’s adding one more term to his game; shot-blocker. Now in his sophomore year, Griffin is now averaging 1.1 blocks per game, which is good enough to put him behind the league’s leading shot blocker, DeAndre Jordan, for second best on the team. It was pretty easy to see Griffin’s potential in becoming a shot-blocker because of his freakish athleticism. But there is a lot more than athleticism that’s needed to block a shot. With 0.6 blocks per game last season, Griffin’s timing and defensive IQ was not fully matured as a rookie. Yet, we can all see the growth in his defensive mind-set this season with his timing, help-defense, and ability to read opponents better on the drive. In the last 7 games, Griffin has found his groove, blocking at least one shot a game and averaging an impressive 2.1 blocks during that stretch. Last season, Griffin’s longest block party streak was 5 games, while he averaged 1 block a game in that streak. With already 23 blocked shots this season, more than half of his total blocked shots for his entire rookie season, Griffin is now bringing in 19.5 percent of the Clippers rejections this season - a huge jump from his 10.1 percent of the team’s blocks last season. With this type of rapid improvement, Griffin will be another big man alongside Jordan, that can swat buckets and alter shots in the paint. It’s just a matter of getting in the film room with the coaches, breaking down the tape and working hard at it. Thankfully, working hard is all Griffin knows." Follow the link to see Blake Griffin explode towards the rim and viciously reject Gordon Hayward's layup attempt for the Block of the Night: OUCH!!!

Kevin Durant Drops 66 Points http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=6SWfJe9dLG8&feature=player_embedded Kevin Durant, the NBA's back-to-back leading scorer took his talents to Harlem Monday Night, for a little Streetball Action. The crowd gathered to watch the young OKC star, and they left thunder struck. Draining 3 pointer after 3 pointer, Kevin lit up the scoreboard, at one point hitting five 3's in a row. All told, he racked up 66 points, thrilling Harlem. Source

Anyway, last time I checked he was still German so I don't see anything wrong with calling a German.... 'German'.

BLAKE GRIFFIN LEADS LIST OF PLAYERS FOR 2012 RISING STARS CHALLENGE http://www.nba.com/clippers/photos/rising-670-120208.jpg Los Angeles Clippers forward and reigning Rookie of the Year Blake Griffin leads a list of 18 players selected for the 2012 BBVA Rising Stars Challenge to be held on Friday, Feb. 24 in Orlando during NBA All-Star 2012. The Clippers current leading scorer, Griffin was named an All-Star starter last week along with teammate Chris Paul and will be making his second appearance in the Rising Stars Challenge after playing for the Rookie Team last season. Griffin played on the rookie team during last year’s game and scored 14 points and grabbed three rebounds in 13 minutes. Griffin played fewer minutes than any player in the game because he was also competing in the dunk contest and playing in the All-Star game. His minutes will likely be limited again this year regardless of his participation in the dunk contest, as he is starting in this year’s All-Star game. A new format is being implemented for the game this year. Instead of having the rookies play the sophomores, both groups will be mixed on teams. Charles Barkley and Shaquille O’Neal will serve as the general managers of the opposing teams, each with nine-man rosters, drafted from the aforementioned pool. Source

Ain't nobody comparing Gasoft with Griffin here. Besides, Griffin's career's just starting. And Lob City's got DeAndre & Reggie Evans, among others, to play D.

^ You must've meant Bynum. Did you see it? A 'great' game? One of the ugliest games I've seen. Terrible shooting. Steve Blake's gotta be the lowest basketball IQ Lakers guard in recent years... <_< The Lakers got lucky. I hate the Celtics but I respect their team. I placed a bet on the Lakers and I'm glad I won but the Lakers only won because the Celtics missed a whole LOT of shots, man.

The backup guard unhappy he's not gotten a contract extension. Wrong way to act for a player signed through next season http://www.latimes.com/media/photo/2012-02/67956771.jpg From Cleveland -- What a bummer. Here I am in the middle of a fairy tale, with the Clippers playing like champions, only to stumble across a stereotypical selfish athlete hell-bent on making a fool of himself. Until now it's been a love fest, the Clippers seemingly doing nothing wrong. DeAndre Jordan and Blake Griffin are acting as if they were raised together; Chris Paul's spreading around the goodwill as much as he does the basketball; and Caron Butler's comeback story is beyond inspirational. The Clippers seemingly had something special going, but maybe there's some doubt now with Chauncey Billups going down for the season. At the very least, it's the wrong time for Mo Williams to remind everyone how wrapped up he is in himself. It's time for the Clippers to take a stand as a team to overcome such a hit, but instead Williams is saying, "I just want to know where I stand with the Clippers." Translation: He's looking for a contract extension. Full Story

In a game full of turnovers Pau GaSOFT is sabotaging the Lakers with his bricks. Also, I'm surprised how many dumb decisions both teams made with the game on the line.

^ Is he stuttering? Anyhow, why are the Lakers using their home unis on a road game??? Disturbance in The Force I sense.

Not surprised it's Nowitzki. Just because he won Finals MVP last year doesn't mean he deserves to be in the ASG the year after. It would be absurd if coaches don't notice his inconsistence (compared to last season).
