  1. Chris Paul's Return to Clippers Remains Un0determined The Four-time All-Star PG Could Return Wednesday Against the Lakers http://www.latimes.com/media/photo/2012-01/67582905.jpg Plenty of signs point to Paul's coming back Wednesday night to face the Lakers in their designated home game at Staples Center. Del Negro wouldn't make any guarantees about Paul's return, and there was no practice Monday or a medical update on the Clippers star. If Paul does play Wednesday, it will have been 11 days since he was injured against the Lakers on Jan. 14. Paul will get a chance to practice with the entire team Tuesday. "We'll work him out [Monday] and Tuesday and test him and go from there," Del Negro said after the victory over Toronto on Sunday. "Don't have an exact decision yet on [Paul's return], but we don't need to have it right now." Source

  3. Damn, ain't that the lowest an NBA team has ever scored?! :o EDIT: Just found this: On November 22 1950 the Fort Wayne Pistons met the Minneapolis Lakers in a game that would be decided by just one point. Very few people got to see the Fort Wayne Pistons celebrate the victory, most were asleep by then. The final score of the lowest scoring NBA game ever was 19 - 18, a whopping combined 37 points. This game was possibly the origin of the shot clock idea, if not, at least the straw that broke the camels back. The lowest scoring NBA game since the shot clock occurred in 1955 when the Boston Celtics beat the Milwaukee Hawks 62 - 57 for a combined 119 points. http://answers.yahoo.com/question/index?qid=20071129212215AAnkPjC

  5. According to ESPN New York's Stephen A. Smith, the Orlando Magic have inquired about acquiring Tyson Chandler and Amare Stoudemire in a trade for Dwight Howard. Howard can opt to test free agency after the season. The Magic are mulling the option of trading him before the season ends. Magic GM Otis Smith has reportedly given Howard's agent permission to speak with the Nets, Lakers and Mavericks about possible trades. But Smith reported on ESPN New York 1050 on Sunday that the Magic have also talked with New York about a possible transaction involving Howard for Stoudemire and Chandler. Full Story

  7. 1/23/12 – It’s still not quite a full month since opening day on Christmas but already the playoff battles are forming in this lockout-shortened season. The Eastern Conference now has six power teams along with four bubble teams. The surprise? The Indiana Pacers and Philadelphia 76ers look like playoff locks while the Boston Celtics and New York Knicks are fighting for scraps. Meanwhile in the West, 10 teams are above .500. Even the Minnesota Timberwolves and Phoenix Suns believe they’re in the playoff mix (but then so does Coach Mark Jackson of the Golden State Warriors). The NBA, four weeks in... Full Rankings
  8. We need to avoid significant injuries to win the division. Kobe and Gasol haven't missed anytime due to injury. And they have played quite a few more games than the Clippers. We definitely can't afford losing DJ, Griffin, or Butler. It will be close between us and the Lakers. We've played tough opponents, but we've played over 2/3s of our games at home and we've played least total games in the league, meaning there a lot of back to backs in our future. Also I think Gasol will get himself together at some point, although Mike Brown's crappy offense doesn't seem to maximize his abilities. It will be close and Paul needs to be healthy, but we certainly have a good chance. Assuming CP3 is back, this is how I see our next 9 road games: Games we should win: @Washington @Cleveland @Charlotte Games we will probably lose: @Orlando @Philly @Dallas Toss-ups: @Denver @Lakers (because it's not really a true road game and CP3 is the Laker Khilla) @Utah (because CP3 will be healthy this time and we will really be looking to make a statement after the bad loss last time) In other words, I will only be concerned if we come out of the next 9 road games with less than 4 wins.
  9. http://www.nba.com/clippers/photos/billups-2-111222-670.jpg The Clippers' 15-year veteran passed Peja Stojakovic to move into fourth place on the NBA All-Time 3-Point Shooting List. It’s a common understanding that Chauncey Billups makes shots. You don’t get the nickname Mr. Big Shot for nothing. But Billups, a 15-year veteran, is fast becoming one of the most prolific shot-makers in league history. On Friday, as the Clippers fell, somewhat ironically, on a buzzer beater by Kevin Love, Billups quietly moved past Peja Stojakovic into fourth place all-time in 3-pointers made. Considering the stakes riding on plays he’s made in the past, a regular season game in January likely didn’t garner much of a rise from anyone watching Billups. Just two days earlier, he took a handoff from Blake Griffin and drilled a go-ahead 3-pointer with 1.0 seconds remaining to defeat the Dallas Mavericks. The secret to doing what he does, according to Billups, is having a short memory. Against the Mavericks, for example, he struggled from the field, shooting 6-of-18 until the final shot, yet still had the confidence to knock it down. He brings that same mentality to all facets of his game. Shortly after the Clippers knocked off the defending champs, Billups, who was the Finals MVP in 2004 with the Pistons, said, “It’s a great win, but it’s over with.” Source The Top 5 As of Jan. 23rd, 2012 Ray Allen - 2,647 Reggie Miller - 2,560 Jason Kidd - 1,809 Chauncey Billups - 1,762 Peja Stojakovic - 1,760 3-Point Rate Among Top 5 (makes per minutes played) Stojakovic - 15.3 Allen - 15.6 Billups - 18.2 Miller - 18.6 Kidd - 26.0

  11. Mo Williams Carrying the Clips in Chris Paul's Absence http://cdn.bleacherreport.net/images_root/images/photos/001/539/775/136097901_crop_650x440.jpg The Los Angeles Clippers are currently 9-5 and sitting atop the Pacific Division. The Clippers intended to compete this year when they traded for All-Star point guard Chris Paul, and he provided for Los Angeles early. However, Paul missed his fifth straight game Sunday with a left hamstring strain. Without Paul, the Clippers have gone 3-2. They beat the Mavericks, Nets and Raptors, but lost games to the Timberwolves and Jazz. In Paul's absence, the Clippers have still looked like a good team, and they could just as easily be 4-1 without Paul. A big reason for the Clippers' success without Paul has been point guard Mo Williams' play. Williams has stepped up more than any other player since he came back from injury. Before going down with an injury, Williams was averaging just over 10 points a game and four assists. Since coming back, Williams has averaged a little under 26 points a game and the same amount of assists. Full Story
  12. NBA'sTop 10 Point Guard/Power Forward Combinations http://cdn.bleacherreport.net/images_root/slides/photos/001/822/037/136282916_crop_650x440.jpg?1327097201 John Stockton to Karl Malone is the standard by which point guard-power forward combinations are judged. With an influx of athletic, scoring point guards, the game is changing. We are getting away from the days of dominant big men who set up shop on the low block and thrive with the offense revolving around them. While those players still have success in spots, the more wide-open, free-wheeling, fast-breaking offense is taking the game by storm. The duos on this list either get out and throw lobs on the break, run pick-and-rolls or pick-and-pops, or drive to the hole and dish to the big. Even though there are a couple sets of veterans on this list, it’s mostly young up-and-comers who are thriving. Source
  13. In a world where athletes spend so much of their time trying not to offend anyone, it's refreshing that we still have Kobe Bryant. A guy at the top of his field who just doesn't care. These are the best examples of “Kobe Being Kobe.” http://s3-ec.buzzfed.com/static/enhanced/web05/2012/1/16/13/enhanced-buzz-11468-1326739443-16.jpg This quote comes from this video with Kobe and Stephon Marbury: http://www.youtube.com/watch?feature=player_embedded&v=7G-twSNVR0E Full List
