Ailing Donovan ruled out of U.S. qualifiers http://a.espncdn.com/photo/2012/1009/soc_g_donovan_gb1_200.jpg Misael Montaño/Getty Images The U.S. has lost forward Landon Donovan (above) and winger Brek Shea to injuries for Cup qualifiers against Antigua and Barbuda and Guatemala. MIAMI -- Landon Donovan will not play for the U.S. national team in a pair of upcoming World Cup qualifying matches because of an injured left knee, adding to what will be a pressure-filled few days for the Americans. U.S. Soccer said Tuesday that Donovan -- who has more goals, assists and starts than any player in program history -- likely will not be replaced on what was a 24-man roster for the upcoming qualifiers, first on Friday on the road against Antigua and Barbuda, then in Kansas City on Oct. 16 against Guatemala. Donovan was injured while playing Saturday for the Los Angeles Galaxy. He was selected by U.S. coach Jurgen Klinsmann for these qualifiers anyway, and the team's athletic trainers wanted him to be evaluated one more time before he started training. Donovan had scrapped plans for an MRI in Los Angeles on Monday because he thought his knee had improved. "Landon was very optimistic over the weekend when his knee was feeling much better, but now he needs time to recover," Klinsmann said. Both the national team and the Galaxy said Donovan was returning to Los Angeles for further evaluation. Full Story Uh-oh!!

Clippers Roster Breakdown for 2013

http://i.imgur.com/vfZqs.png (...) Hollins is also an astoundingly poor rebounder for a man his size. In fact, of the 30 something active NBA players listed as seven feet or taller, Hollins is the worst defensive rebounder as measured by rebounding percentage -- and it's not even close. Rebounding percentage is the percentage of rebounds that you collect while you are on the floor. Since there are 10 players on the floor at all times, if all 10 of them got the same number of rebounds, then everyone would have a rebounding percentage of 10. Hollins' career defensive rebounding percentage is 11.9, which is ludicrously poor. Bear in mind that almost three fourths of all rebounds go to the defensive team, so just being on the defensive end should bump an average player's percentage up to about 15. Then consider that he's a center so he's generally playing close to the basket where most rebounds fall and HE'S SEVEN FEET TALL. Six foot Eric Bledsoe was a better defensive rebounder last season than seven foot Hollins. The Clippers played the entire 2011-2012 season without a backup center (unless you count 10 games of Solomon Jones). Instead, Kenyon Martin (6'9") and Reggie Evans (6'8") battled opposing centers when DeAndre Jordan rested or was unproductive. In today's NBA, the truth is that you don't need a seven footer most of the time -- there are very few significant forces in the low post these days. But when you run into a Dwight Howard or an Andrew Bynum, it's nice to have a body or two who can match up, if only to spend some extra fouls. Probably as a reaction to last season's dearth of backup centers, the Clippers went out and signed two of them this summer (Hollins and Ronny Turiaf). Source -
I had this weird dream how the Lakers had this white rookie and dood had potential, and Kobe was helping him and menthoring him...

So did I, to be honest...

I miss it too... You know what?! POLL ADDED!!! (You might wanna delete ya initial (Question 1) vote to vote again, though). My favorite scenes: In 1969 Carl Brashear became the first amputee in the US Navy to return to full active duty. 2 Years later he attained the rank of Master Diver, he would not retire for another 9 years. One of the most insperational stories ever.... ********************************************************************************* Post your favorite Cuba scene, y'all!!

THANK YOU, BRANDON!!! (That's from the heart!)

Didn't feel like posting here, but Lkr says 'this all needs to be out in the open'. Maybe he's right, so: * * * * * * * * * * * * * A) - Saying 'Happy birthday!' to some folks was an attempt to make inactive members start posting and thus increase activity. It worked with some guys (e.g. Oliver P may not be exactly a '0-post member' but he did come back here after my 'Hbd' greeting post in his native French). Like DDD has noticed, I try to make people feel like we, at OTR, care about them.. at least I do. OTR IS MY FAMILY. I LIKE YOU GUYS (NO HOMO!). OTR IS UNIQUE, CAN'T IMAGINE MY LIFE WITHOUT THIS PLACE. B) - Lkr, I didn't make the 'Most Overrated Serbian plr' thread to, quote: 'poll the community on a topic'. I asked a general question, and I still find it an interesting topic. If you think it's a vague one -- Ok, I respect your opinion, but mine is different. Maybe I made a mistake adding polls. They were just an extra incentive to participate - like in the "Fave ___ Movie?" threads. Frankly, I stopped making polls 'cause you were ruining my threads with: "LOL @ 'x' being a poll option!" and where's movie 'y'?. I ain't no robot, man. And I ain't seen all movies on Earth! Some of those polls are based on web articles. Again: The polls were just an extra incentive to participate. Which leads to my next point: C) - Like RD said -- How a topic is created isn't THAT important, especially when you don't value what that member thinks. I do take the time to elaborate topics really well in order to make them perfect. It's just that some won't even read it simply because it was Shaliq who posted it... <_< Yet - I do all I can to make my threads interesting. D) - On the hot girls thread: I see most here like white chicks - Ok, cool. To iMan's question: I simply shared pics of chicks I really find attractive. And Art enjoyed many of my posts, even repped me. But then some would say that a chick I posted has a big forehead. I swear: HADN'T NOTICED HER FOREHEAD AT ALL. So then I post an ebony girl with a normal forehead... you guys invent some other 'flaws'. At a point I was like: "Is there at least one chocolate chick on Earth that you'd find hot??" Anyway, I'm done talking about this. E) - I like iMan, Simba, Nashty, Jenneral, trutrojan8 and almost everyone else around here! I hope 99.98% of you guys stay around for good. And if you think I gotta change my posting a lil bit to better suit the forum -- I'ma give it my best shot! Last but not least: ^ I agree (in fact, couldn't agree more!). But then comes the question -- with all due respect, why did you encourage/defend him and his baiting in the Random thread, man? (No pun, and no offense intended. I just wanna know.) He was straight baiting and trolling - calling me a phaggot for no reason, and you would stand right by his side, and spit at me posts like: 'only a bigoted loser would do this and that', and '> being a bigoted loser who (insert random text here)'. P.S. "Dude, I don't feel like being here with yugo getting away with what he says in the off topic board, he baits and baits and gets a pass because he's been here longer than about everyone." ^ Whoever said that, I thank him.

Wow! I'll remake my Barclays Center mix and include this pic in it!! Great find!!

^ Thanks. Glad you guys liked it. A few words on how I chose the track ("Our House" by The Madness): I love the The Madness and "Our House" is one of my favorite songs ever. It's funny -- the song's so old but I didn't hear it till my 2010 Eurotrip. It was like 3 AM in that bus to Frankfurt and the song kinda woke me up.. when I heard it I thought it sounded fresh, thought it was a relatively new one -- from like the 90's, at least. Anyway, when I got back to Brazil, I randomly heard it again while watching "Everybody Hates Chris". So the song got stuck in my head for quite a while... Fast forward to last summer: ^ I'm surprised how I gave you guys this brilliant idea, and no one even replied, let alone do anything else. I guess you ain't too much into mix making. Honestly, I got motivated to finish it quickly. So I compiled everything in about 2-3 hours today. The only thing I'm not feeling is how the song is cut at the very end. I didn't even give it a hear before I posted it... I downloaded it and thought it would be complete. <_< Anyway, feel free to re-do and repost this wherever you want to.I tried to include our board's name in as many pics as possible. Hopefully it will catch the attention of some other NBA fans out there. Like I said here, I already started spreading the word. Feel free to follow suit.

Glad I could help ya. And thanks in advance for the act of gratefulness... I really went outta my way just to help ya. OTR brotherhood for life!

It's about time we made more mixes promoting our site. I suck at making mixes but I still got some positive feedback for my first two ones: "Enter The Garden" "The Nets' House" ^ Now imagine a sick NBA mix promoting our site... We could use that!! P.S.I posted these two on some other sites. Feel free to repost them wherever you want to, especially if you think that might bring more members.

What's keeping fish from being active? He's one of my favorite posters here...
-
With all due respect, I can't agree that 'it's the kind of activity that he brings that causes problems'. Sadly, here are some people who don't even read what I post -- because it's me who posted it. Regarding the 'Guess the score game': 1.) That was an attempt to increase the activity of a guy I saw on one other board. He said he loved that game. 2.) There were replies by at least 3 other members in that thread. About the random clippers discussion thread -- there is a similar thread in other team subforums: NYK, Philly. So, I'm sorry but I'm not gonna stop posting stuff about my favorite team just because I'm the only LAC fan here. Honestly, I feel the same way about you, bro -- I feel that you too at times post just for the sake of increasing your post count. Some threads that come to mind off the top of my head are the soccer threads -- before I started posting there you were basically talking to yourself. You had a substantial amount of posts in each of the threads with not many, if any, replies from other members. DiscussHoops.com| Guidelines: 4) POSTING ARTICLES

D-Will: Mark Cuban wasn't around to answer my questions The Nets were never contestants on “Shark Tank,” but they came out the big winners of Mark Cuban’s game show. Deron Williams revealed Monday that Cuban’s absence from his free-agent meeting in July helped clinch his decision to reject the Mavericks and re-sign with the Nets. Cuban, who cut payroll and gutted a championship team to chase Williams in free agency, was reportedly in California at the time taping an episode of “Shark Tank.” “Of course (Cuban’s absence had an effect),” Williams said. “My top four when I was coming out of high school was Illinois, Georgia Tech, Tennessee and Maryland. “Maryland told me they wanted me to come on a visit but Gary Williams wouldn’t be there. So I told them, ‘It’s okay. I’d rather not go.’ So that was that. It’s similar.” Williams still met in New York with Mavs coach Rick Carlisle and GM Donnie Nelson, but said Monday that a lot of his questions went unanswered. The Nets, meanwhile, were updating Williams on their plans and goals for 1 ½ years, before reaching a deal for Joe Johnson and revealing the news to Williams hours after he met with Dallas. About a month earlier, Williams flew to Turkey and Russia for a vacation and spoke with Nets owner Mikhail Prokhorov. “I think (Cuban) would have been able to answer a lot of the questions me and my agent have for him that really didn’t get answered that day pertaining to the future,” Williams said. “And I think if he was there he would have been able to answer those questions a little bit better. It maybe would have helped me. Read More

Jerry Stackhouse is training to become a coach under Avery Johnson Whatever Jerry Stackhouse has left on the court is gravy. For this season and perhaps beyond, his greater responsibility is teaching. The veteran guard said Monday he plans on assuming the role of a player/coach this season, with hopes of establishing a career on the bench under the familiar tutelage of Avery Johnson. It’s no wonder the Nets didn’t hire another assistant coach. “I never thought I’d want to coach, but now I kind of want to transition into that, kind of learning from (Johnson),” Stackhouse said. “I know he’ll allow me to assume some of the responsibilities this year. I think a lot of coaches would be threatened by that, but he’s comfortable enough to let me earn my way while I’m playing. It’s kind of an ideal situation for me. Hopefully I can grow with this group past my actual playing days." Stackhouse, who’ll turn 38 in March, signed a one-year deal this summer with the Nets, his eighth team in an 18-year career. He played under Johnson for four years in Dallas, and plotted on a reunion after Johnson was hired by Mikhail Prokhorov. But the Nets were terrible for two years, so Stackhouse waited for a situation more suitable. “I had been talking to Avery and talking to Billy over the last couple years behind the scenes. They knew they weren’t ready to compete,” Stackhouse said. “But they felt like when they were ready to compete, I’d be a guy that comes in and be a stabilizing force. Full Story
