  1. Looking back at the staff, folks have come and gone but Smitty is the only one left from the original (2005-'06) Global Moderator Team (All Forums). I thought it'd be appropriate to consider making him an Administrator. With ALCS away, officially there's only one admin now (GamerGuy) and he's doing a great job, but I thought it'd be good to go back to the two official admins format (I also realize that appart from being the owner, Real Deal is also unofficially an admin). Just a suggestion. Would appreciate your thoughts on it.
  2. Forget about the poll, and focus on the topic title.

  6. Clippers waive Courtney Fortson and Chris Johnson The Clippers announced this morning that they have waived guard Courtney Fortson and forward Chris Johnson, two training camp signees. That reduces the current roster to 18 players. When the team signed five players for camp, it was a given that none of them had much hope of making the team. After all, the team already had the maximum 15 players under contract. In order to keep any of the invitees, they would have to waive a player under contract. So it's no surprise that the ax is starting to fall. I guess it's a shame for these two that they don't get to accompany the team to China, which could turn out to be a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity. Then again, you can also see it from the team's perspective -- why take extra bodies across the Pacific for no reason. It is a little surprising that Fortson was one of the first cuts, given that he was on his second tour in Clippers camp, and actually got a few regular season emergency minutes both with the Clippers and with the Rockets last season. Clearly rookie Hank Thorns, who played spot minutes in the preseason game in Las Vegas Saturday night, beat out Fortson as the "camp" point guard. The Clippers now have three camp invitees -- Thorns, Marqus Blakely and Trent Plaisted -- still on the roster. That' a point guard, a wing and a big. Neither Thorns nor Plaisted has any hope of eventually making the team. Blakely might have the slimmest of chances to usurp Travis Leslie as the project wing athlete -- but probably not. Neither Blakely nor Plaisted played in the exhibition opener, but neither did Leslie. Source

Popovich gives Spurs copy of Obama-Romney presidential debate Gregg Popovich gave each member of the San Antonio Spurs a DVD copy of Wednesday's presidential debate between Barack Obama and Mitt Romney Gregg Popovich gave each member of the San Antonio Spurs a DVD copy of Wednesday's presidential debate between Barack Obama and Mitt Romney. “Of course, we have so many foreign guys on our team, they were quick to point out they can’t vote, so they shouldn’t be obligated to watch the debate,” Matt Bonner said. “Regardless, they live here, so it’s good for them to be aware.” My link

  17. Rodrigue Beaubois sprains ankle Dallas Mavericks guard Rodrigue Beaubois sprained his left ankle in the team's 89-84 exhibition win over Alba Berlin on Saturday. Coach Rick Carlisle told reporters in Berlin that he did not know the severity of the sprain. Carlisle said he would provide an update on the condition of Beaubois, who reportedly wore a protective boot as he left the arena, when the team arrived in Barcelona, where the Mavericks will play another exhibition game Tuesday. Carlisle has said he believes this will be a breakout season for Beaubois, an athletic combo guard whose potential has been a tease since a rookie season that featured several flashes of brilliance, including a 40-point game. Beaubois averaged 8.9 points and 2.9 assists last season but played a total of only 12 playoff minutes as the Mavs were swept out of the first round by the Oklahoma City Thunder. Beaubois' development has been stunted by a fractured left foot that he originally suffered while training with the French national team in the summer of 2010. The foot did not heal properly after surgery, prompting Beaubois to undergo a second operation. Before the Mavs left for Berlin, Beaubois noted with excitement this was the first time he had been healthy entering a training camp since his rookie season. Source
