And LeBron is the reason LeBron is the best player in basketball.

Pay no mind to the rankings, because if New England's defense ever dropped out of the top, it was because of early- or mid- season injuries to important players on that defense. Study how they actually performed in each of the games. Manning has never had a dominant defense. The ranking is trivial if the defense is getting blasted on the ground, allowing the other team to control the tempo, and not getting their quarterback the ball (field position is a bonus). You can bullsh*t all you want Jeffrey, but even you can concede that Brady has always had the superior defense (very superior) and the better overall team. And, if we're comparing the players based on their ability and what they're able to do for you—you know, because it's a comparison topic—as opposed to debating frivolous history and statistics, Peyton still wins out. He does everything better than Brady.

Well, Robert Horry has... ugh, never mind. You know.

Agnostic. I'm undecided — actually, I decided I don't give a [expletive]. -
Iverson was always a vulnerable defender, the steals were just his attempt at compensating (obviously wasn't enough, though). Wade is a chronic risk-taker, sometimes to a fault. He's a good defender, but not nearly as versatile as LeBron. They both should go to Gamblers Anonymous. If you don't think that's good defense, then fine, but he's somehow tricked the whole world into thinking he is a great defender.

I'm sorry that Peyton Manning doesn't have an impeccable team that optimizes his opportunities, puts him in a failsafe position, and hands him the ball so he can string together an average drive and "set up" the clutchest kicker in NFL history from moderate distance, and then proceed to have his [expletive] polished by the mouths of the media for what was really a pedestrian performance that Manning could've done 5x better.

He played the second best defense this season, or at least close to it. Not the second best defender in the league, but I can confidently say he's up there. Dwight isn't the best defender in the L, but he deserved every bit of the award.

Ben Roethlisberger has had pretty average receivers too, and he has more rings than Peyton Manning. Football is not that cut and dry. The choker tag is derived from his first playoff games. It's exaggerated, and its a stigma that he's (should've) already worked off. Choke artists don't lead the NFL in 4th quarter comebacks.

lol @ penalizing because offensive ammunition. It's much easier to win when your team is exceptionally balanced and your team is proficient in every area. Peyton Manning is the better player. Always has been.

What is the most OTR has ever had in one day?

No, it's Hyde kicking Jekyll's [expletive]. The evil (Kobe love) is overwhelming the good. Overall defensive purposes, as in everything. As in defense. It's not like Cleveland's scheme is fixated to make LeBron fill the stat sheet — he's just good at it. You can't take that away from him. His instincts, his head, and his athleticism... that's all his. He would make an impact on whatever team he plays on. LeBron is not the reason they are an elite defense, but he's a big part of why they are.

You don't see it because you don't want to see it. He's strong, he's fast, and he's one of the best in the league at recovering. He can hold his own. LeBron is not putting guys in straitjackets (but he can), but his overall impact transcends on-ball defense. He prevents the other team from scoring... that's the hallmark of good D. I would take maybe five guys on my team over LeBron for defensive purposes.

Yes, but that's with everything. There's just a line you don't cross.

Starter or bench player, Wallace is wholly the superior player.

He's probably there just to show up. Pat Riley does all the real work. -
He's improved a ton on defense, and that's indisputable. We're seeing his willingness and tenacity on defense, and a big leap in defensive instincts, cunning, and awareness. Was a very compelling bid for DPOY this season, and justifiably so.

+1*5/1^12 Yes. -
Bass is a sixth man. Good, but he's a bench player. Wallace is a two-way starter that can match, and one-up his production on offense and play superb defense at the same time. Rasheed is the correct answer.
