Lakers after Raymond Felton?
?QuestionMark? replied to Dash's topic in Los Angeles Lakers Team Forum
I've wanted Felton on the Lakers since the 05 draft, but I wouldn't do it if it means dealing Odom. LA's size is still their strength. The Lakers shouldn't go out of their way to adjust to the rest of the league, force the rest of the league to adjust to them. IMO, they can help their PG situation without trading their core by using their MLE or TPE. Just giving Blake more minutes with the starting unit in a conventional offense is an upgrade over last year. -
Lamar Odom for Minnesota's #2?
?QuestionMark? replied to Real Deal's topic in Los Angeles Lakers Team Forum
Based on the source, I don't buy it. I see why LA would do it, but even Kahn wouldn't be stupid enough to make this deal. Besides, LA needs to save Odom if they want to make a blockbuster deal involving Howard or Paul. -
Well that's a relief. Even so, there are other practical reasons why to avoid student loans. Like if you can't pay it back you're [expletive]ed. You WILL pay it back one way or another. They'll garnish your wages or won't give you your tax refund. Can't file for bankrupcy either. If you're an incoming freshman and you can't get a grant or scholarship, try going to a community college first. You'll be taking the same classes as you would at a University (well, they count the same anyway) only they're a lot cheaper.

Luckily no and I'd advise you, if possible, not to go that route. There are probably some college students and post-grads with outstanding debts reading this and getting scared like the dickens. But you have nothing to worry about! The Fed shock troops appear to go after your innocent estranged spouses, only. http://gawker.com/5809928/when-swat-teams-attack-over-your-estranged-wifes-student-debt

Nope. I used to listen in the car on my way to and from school (usually 3 hours total) but I got tired of them playing the same crappy shit. One day I was in traffic and I heard Laffy Taffy for like the 6th time that day and snapped. Started yelling in the car, switched to sports talk radio, got home ordered an MP3 player and haven't listened to radio for anything other than sports talk since. But since I live in LA sports talk sucks ass here so I rarely even listen to that, especially now that Max Kellerman and Marcellus Wiley have infected ESPN radio in LA. The only "radio" I do listen to is from Yahoo when I'm at my computer working on something and I need noise.

I like watching these old drafts and seeing names I haven't heard in a long time. Todd Fuller being drafted when finding centers was becoming scarce, drafting Martin Muursepp when drafting Euros was becoming a cool thing to do. I also see David Kahn was inspired by the Knicks 1996 draft where they took 3 small forwards in the first round. Also some things still haven't changed. It's been 15 years and Erik Dampier still hasn't cracked a smile. We should do a redraft just to see how the draft would turn out if teams knew then what we know now.

Blazers looking for starting point guard in draft
?QuestionMark? replied to Dash's topic in Portland Trail Blazers Team Forum
Draft day is like Christmas for the Blazers. I know they want to jump up that high but I don't see how unless they deal either Batum or Matthews. Luckily the draft is deep with PGs. Chicago may want to sell one of their picks where Portland could still get a good player. Shelvin Mack, Darius Morris, Iman Shumpert, Reggie Jackson, Nolan Smith and Charles Jenkins are all projected around there. I think Jackson, Mack, and Shumpert in particular will be starters in the league. -
Phoenix Suns in hot pursuit for Wolves' #2 pick

Keep in mind that Minnesota's GM also thinks Darko is as good as Chris Webber. -
Wizards don't want to move McGee for #2 pick?
?QuestionMark? replied to Dash's topic in Washington Wizards Team Forum
It could just be that Washington isn't that much in love with Williams. As physically gifted as he is, he's still stuck between positions much like Beasley. Does he have the guard skills to play the 3? Does he have the size to defend 4s? For all of McGee's faults, he's still a 7 footer that swats. That's valuable in this league. Finding a compitent center is hard, having to trade one is harder. There aren't many legit centers that'll be around for Washington at 18 except maybe Vucevic. But is Williams + Vucevic better than McGee + 6th pick? Dunno. -
Dalembert would be a great acquisition for Miami. He's defends, boards, swats, anchors, and has developed a pretty decent mid-range shot making him more of a scoring threat than Anthony. A lot of what Miami does depends on the new CBA. Assuming the new CBA looks somewhat familiar, a guy like Dalembert is gonna cost MLE money. A lot of teams will want him. Boston, SA, Portland, and New York could be suitors. Other guys to consider for Miami are Joel Pryzbilla and Nazr Mohammed. As for PGs, really this is a weak year for FAs. Most of the talented players are restricted so Miami is out of the running for most of them. Keep Chalmers because he's the best Miami can do via FA. Maybe sign Earl Watson as a backup.

http://sports.espn.go.com/nba/news/story?id=6659387 The same guy that the Bobcats traded Gerald Wallace to is their new GM. Good move by MJ. Finally one that makes sense.

You can retire any number, really. The Heat retired Michael Jordan's number. I'd say Pau Gasol or SAR might have first crack at their numbers getting retired. They were the face of the franchise for a long time.

OTR 2011 Mock Draft Challenge Sign-Ups
?QuestionMark? replied to Built Ford Tough's topic in NBA Draft History
I'll do it. Dash and I can fight for last place this year. -
Lakers aren't going to take a step backwards, not with this team. There's still a window of opportunity with this current squard to win a ring. Trading Gasol is not part of that equation. I'm also not sure that getting a 31 year old for the 2nd pick is that wise. Even if Minnesota does swap the pick for Pau, they're still not close to contending. Might as well keep the pick and continue with their internal development. If I do trade the pick it's for someone younger like Ellis or Iggy.

The Clippers and their 2012 pick
?QuestionMark? replied to Real Deal's topic in Los Angeles Clippers Team Forum
I'm basing it off Michael Olowokandi, Lancaster Gordon, Yaroslav Korolev, Danny Ferry, Bo Kimble, and Melvin Elys that they've drafted. -
The Clippers and their 2012 pick
?QuestionMark? replied to Real Deal's topic in Los Angeles Clippers Team Forum
Similar to the Grizzlies trading a pick to Detroit for Otis Thorpe in 1997 that turned out to be the 2nd overall pick in 2003. Clips will probably Darko the pick too. -
Should flopping be a finable offense?
?QuestionMark? replied to Lkr's topic in General NBA Discussion
They should. I hate watching guys flopping to draw a cheap foul. It was funny when it was only Vlade and Stockton who would do it. But now EVERYONE does it and it's out of control. Even soccer players laugh at guys like Piece and CP3 and Manu. -
Iverson Wants Another Shot at the NBA?
?QuestionMark? replied to The Lone Granger's topic in General NBA Discussion
He can still play. It's just his attitude that keeps him out of the league. It's sad that a guy like Derek Fisher can still get a job and AI can't. But Fish isn't a headcase even though he's not even half the player Iverson is. -
It wouldn't be surprising if a lot of players, especially international ones, go play overseas next year. Some players can probably get paid more overseas than they would here. They can even negotiate an opt-out clause for when the NBA returns.

Damn all the guys I like for the Lakers are starting to get some buzz. First Brooks, then Vucevic, now Shumpert. Shumpert is gonna be good player. Can defend all three perimeter positions and play both backcourt spots. He'd be a good pick at 27. He could be like Sefolosha, but better offensively.
