  1. Not since 8th grade when I graduated and I knew I would never see most of the people in my class again. I had known most of them since 1st grade so for 8 years I had class with the same people. Since then I can't wait to end a class so I never have to do it again. Even if it's a fun class, I still am counting down the days til the last day just to get done with it.
  2. They'd be scary good. A healthy Roy was on the verge of being a superstar on the same level as Kobe, James, Paul, Wade, Dirk, etc. Add to the fact he plays both ends of the floor and he's clutch and the Blazers would have had a stud to build around. Even if Oden didn't live up to the hype, if he'd stay healthy he could be a 10/10/3 type center that anchors defensively. The rest of the team would have provided enough talent and balance that they'd be competing for titles right now.
  3. Brandon Knight. I don't think they really need him and I don't know if he's better than Bayless who they already have. But, IMO, he's the best prospect available. I like Vesely but I don't know that he makes it in the NBA as a SF and Biyombo might be too much of a reach at 5 considering how raw he is.
  4. http://www.dailymotion.com/video/x1k2t8_blessure-de-jorge-garbajosa_sport Ouch! The Livingston one still looked worse.
  5. Decertification is the ultimate trump card. Doesn't hurt big market teams or owners with deep pockets. It hurts the small market teams or teams with owners complaining about the current CBA. Guys stuck in places like Memphis, Charlotte, Milwaukee, Utah, Sacramento, or Indiana could head for a larger market or get paid far more than the current MAX. I don't know which side will blink first. I don't think Atlanta would want to risk losing Horford, or Utah losing Kanter, Charlotte losing....well I don't think MJ cares. I guess we have to start liking the WNBA to get our basketball fix....or learn to like soccer.
  6. All minimum salaries are scaled based on experience. A 2nd year player get's a veteran's minimum too just for a lot less.
  7. Manu has had significantly more success than Yao, at least as far as accomplishments. 3 NBA Championships Sixth Man of the Year Olympic Gold Medal 2 time All-Star Multiple Euro MVPs I think he gets it. It's not the NBA Hall of Fame, it's the BASKETBALL Hall of Fame. I think his international accomplishments plus his success in the NBA gets him in.
  8. I'm not sure that he needs to start. I think he's effective in the role he's in. It's not so much who starts but rather how much PT he gets and, more importantly, if he finishes game. Like Legacy said, Harden is in the Ginobili role, and Thabo is like Bruce Bowen. That worked out well for the Spurs. I do think that Harden needs to play over 30 mpg, though, since unlike SA, the Thunder don't have a big man that's a legit scoring threat.
  9. Surely a duo of KG/Marbury would have been much more successful than the product Minny put on the floor during KG's tenure. KG didn't really spend much time with another quality player. Cassell and Sprewell only spent only two seasons with him but in their first season they got to the WCF (and probably should have made the Finals if not for Cassell getting hurt). Terrell Brandon was good but had to retire due to injury. The best player that KG played with in Minny for a long period was probably Wally Szczerbiak. Yeah, let that sink in. If you can pair a HOF with another legit All-Star, chances are pretty good you'll make a few deep playoff runs. And I personally feel a KG/Marbury could have been successful. KG is a HOF talent but with a 2nd option mentality. The biggest knock on him in Minny was that he would disappear in the final 5 minutes of a game. Marbury would have been a good compliment since we know he's not scared to shoot.
  10. Does Felton/Matthews really qualify? I know I can barely do math, but by my count Felton has played 6 years. So he doesn't even fit the writer's own criteria. I like Westbrook/Harden and Collison/George mostly for their two-way potential. PS....the NBA CBA doesn't define a veteran has having 10+ years of experience. Their definition is surprisingly a lot looser. Just someone who is not a rookie.
  11. If Mike James is 30, I assume Zan Tabak didn't make the list?
  12. $17 for upper bowl games is a good deal considering. The last time I went to Staples for a Lakers game I payed $50 to sit right in front of Magic Johnson.....not the person but his retired jersey all the way at the top. Last row. And that was against the Wizards.
  13. http://sports.yahoo.com/nba/news;_ylt=AhF1hmy4Fox94Hhnd2tB0DW8vLYF?slug=ap-timberwolves-porter http://espn.go.com/nba/story/_/id/6785096/minnesota-timberwolves-interview-mike-woodson-lay-least-11-business-side-employees I doubt they land Adelmann or Nelson. Guess Porter would be scraping the bottom of the barrell. I personally would have just stayed with Rambis.
  14. How much and where are you sitting? If I wanted to sit in a lower bowl for a game against the Lakers how much more is than for the same seats against Minny?
  15. Jonas. He's the BPA and a potential anchor. It's not like Cleveland is gonna make the playoffs any time soon, so it's worth waiting for him to come over.
  16. I'm going to cheat here: C - Shaq PF - Magic Johnson SF - Elgin Baylor SG - Kobe Bryant PG - Jerry West Magic played PF when he returned in 96, but also played all over the floor in the 80s. West was primarily a SG but took over more PG duties towards the end of his career where he led the Lakers in assists. But if you want the best Lakers all-time at their position: C - Shaq PF - Gasol SF - Baylor SG - Kobe PG - Magic
  17. Can the Lakers please get a X-Mas day off? It's hard to be merry on Christmas when the Lakers always seem to lose.
  18. I'd be more interested if they made this a real World Cup for club teams. /they should at least add some teams from South America.
  19. http://www.euroleague.net/euroleaguenews/transactions/2011-12-signings/i/86715/5611/anadolu-efes-signs-vujacic I wonder if he gets to take Maria with him. By my count that's 7 players who played in the NBA last year that have headed overseas. Deron Williams Nenad Krstic Sasha Vujacic Sonny Weems Darius Songaila Hilton Armstrong Mustafa Shakur Sherron Collins Outside of Williams and possibly Krstic, no significant players leaving for overseas yet despite all the talk. Maybe we'll see more in November when players start missing paychecks. A lot of the better undrafted rookies like David Lighty have already signed somewhere, though. So probably no surprise rookies like Wesley Matthews this year.
  20. Tough question. I think it's a tossup as for who has had a better career. But If I had to build a team around one of them, I pick Jason Kidd without a doubt. Outside of shooting, I don't know that Nash has an edge anywhere else. But there is a grand canyon size gap between Kidd and Nash defensively. I completely disagree that individual defense is not as important because of team defense. Individual defense is the foundation of team defense. The more you can keep you man in front of you, the less help you give, the stronger your team defense is. Factor in the rebounding and his versatility and Kidd is a no-brainer for me. Nash had benefitted greatly from the system he arrived at in PHX. But you place him almost anywhere else and he doesn't do as well. Kidd in his prime would improve any team regardless of the system they played in.
  21. Toss-up between Enes Kanter and Jonas Valanciunas, but I go with Jonas. Has the most upside of everyone, and I think 5 years down the line he'll be the better player. Jonas can potentially be an anchor defensively, something I don't think Kanter can be. Concerns about Jonas doesn't really bother me. He clearly needs to get stronger, but so did Tyson Chandler when he came into the league. The idea of pairing two good athletes like Favors and Jonas upfront would intrigue me. .
  22. So even you disagree with the DA's theory. DA has been claiming the tape was the cause of death. You say Casey placed the tape after the death. That's reasonable doubt. The rest of the evidence was shaky. State says there were high levels of chloroform in the trunk, FBI expert says they were normal. State brings in a witness saying there the hair found in the trunk was of a corpse, yet the same witness says the hair test they ran can't positively link the hair to Caylee without DNA. The state says there was a strong odor of a decomposing body in the trunk, yet no blood or DNA was found the trunk. So that leaves the duct tape with no finger prints. All of our guts/instincts tell us Anthony killed her child, but our guts, unfortunately in this case, isn't the standard used to find someone guilty.
  23. And how many innocent people have gone to jail because this? No time of death, no cause of death, no witnesses, the defense poked holes in the chloroform theory, and there's no motive. Every element of the crime must be proved beyond a reasonable doubt to find the accused guilty. Unfortunately, all the state had was speculation and therefore the jury had enough reasonable doubt not to convict.
  24. I feel bad for whoever has to do the closed captions for them.
  25. Pretty cheap considering the Warriors were bought for 450 million. Why don't all of us here at OTR pool our money and buy the Hornets?
