  1. Nets currently have plenty of guards in Morrow, Williams, Ross, Lee while they still are missing a power forward to start. Outlaw has stated he was told he'd be the starting three and James had a decent enough summer league where I could see him earning a lot of minutes at the three as well. It will be an interesting couple weeks as Rod Thorn is out in two days then the new guy can fiddle with the rest of the roster.
  2. Depends how the Heat do. I really hope not because then it's more salary cap trades rather than just watching players grow on their teams.
  3. I think the Outlaw signing was one of the best moves by the Nets. He can play the three and the four which allows for Terrence, Damion and Derrick all to get plenty of playing time as Outlaw can switch back and forth. Add that with the Nets being high on Favors, he can start at small forward or even move to a sixth man role. I'm not saying Outlaw > Amare but for this team, it's true.
  4. Needs did a sign and trade with cash so welcome Morrow!
  5. That shows the definition of loyalty. I wish there was a way he could get a ring but not Bosh or LeBron.
  6. That's a bold statement two years into someone's career saying our best player will leave a brand new franchise. Did you say that about Durant going into his third year too?
  7. The same reason we got rid of Dooling. LeBron's puppet game.
  8. Yes because that worked out perfectly for so many teams this year.
  9. Because players like that, the Nets don't feel are worth the money they are getting which is true. Why overpay one guy when you can add a bunch of guys with potential and hope for the best rather than signing someone whose potential is over and is locked up for another five years when we just drafted a power forward third overall.
  10. I have no idea what that first part means but I assume you are saying Nets are doing what the Knicks did in '08? I'd say it's a bit different as we have a 22-year old stud center to build around. We also have been piling up draft picks as well as trading the old for the young like Carter and Jefferson for the likes of Yi and Lee. Though it might not always turn out right, it's a much smarter way for a franchise who is moving in two years to make a product like the Thunder while the Knicks are much higher up in basketball popularity so it makes sense to grab Amare.
  11. Must have him as the backup plan because they just offered Haslem a three year, $20 mil contract. If he turns that down I can see them putting the offer in to Scola.
  12. So we should have gave Boozer $85 million then have him cry on the bench when all we can grab is an 8th seed rather than add a whole bunch of youth and hope we have a superstar among our young dudes? Add that with the fact Rod Thorn is retiring, I doubt he wanted to handcuff the next general manager with large contracts that cannot be moved. Look at how the Pistons did this year after throwing money at best availible free agents. Not very good IMO.
  13. Dislike. I wanted Terrence to get the backup minutes which they said they were going to do.
  14. Glad to see him stay with the Pistons and finish it out.
  15. We feel the same as Knicks fans. Bummed we missed out on LeBron but liking our roster.
  16. All depends because at some point they do. If the NBA MVP meets in the finals four years in a row yet the star of the other team wins it four years in a row, you might start looking at the guy whose the winner, no?
  17. It's weird how hockey players don't team up very often considering how many guys are on a team.
  18. Tell me about it.. http://cdn.nhl.com/images/upload/2010/04/halak_325_040310.jpg
  19. I just don't get why they have done as much as they have when they had the second best team. I just think there was a better way to do it to increase the chances of returning to the Finals but he took a different path.
  20. I have to disagree. We put everything in to LeBron James and it was clear he had made his mind up way before a couple days ago. What other moves could we have done? Overpay Amare? Overpay Boozer? Our plan was get LeBron and if not, rebuild with youth which we have done picking up three guys under 25 years of age. As for Petro's talent. We did overpay him but the Knicks paid the same amount for their backup center and he shoots above 60% from the free throw which Josh Boone got crushed at and like I stated, he's under 25. In regards to Carmelo, you can say he will go here, we have the cap space and so on...but just like this year, it doesn't make a difference for your roster till he's on it and I'd much rather just build up young players right now than dump salary to compete with an All-Star trio and the Lakers.
  21. Love the players we are bringing in. We aren't going to surprise anyone by winning a championship this year but build a team of young studs and you might have a future.
  22. I don't get what they are doing though. The finished second overall in the entire league and the team that beat them lost a lot of main guys yet rather than filling in the holes, they try and mix it up. I still see them in the Finals again but I am puzzled.
  23. Scola won't leave for the Nets. He just wouldn't fit in with his age and his European craziness.
