He is getting 7 years and $126 million. Congrats to him. I am going to miss him, but he can't be blamed for taking the $$$. Doesn't make it hurt any less though .
-
So, he goes to a division rival and since they have a top 15 pick we don't even get their first round pick. Awesome.
-
Jayson Werth is close to signing with the Nationals. My heart was just ripped out of my chest.
-
Wow...

A win is a win, but today was ugly.

Epic fail.
-
So he can't cause damage during the early innings? I understand what the Cardinals are doing, they want his bat and are willing to sacrifice the defense, but he is a tremendous liability no matter how long he is playing the outfield.
-
It really isn't. I'm not sure if you were around here a couple years ago when people were making new threads for every trade/signing, but like IllWill said, it was way too messy. It's much more organized this way.

3-1! Also, Rasheed Wallace was sitting in front of us! He was wearing a Reggie Leach Flyers jersey. Pretty sweet.
-
Poor Colby Rasmus will be getting a work out on every fly ball.
-
WOW. Cardinals sign Berkman. Does not look like a good fit at all, interested to see how this works.
-
He didn't. Thanks for the jinx, it was much appreciated!
-
Supposedly the salary cap will go up by as much as $2 million next season. This is fantastic news for the Flyers, potentially. May be the difference between keeping and losing Ville Leino.
-
With that said, the Red Sox lineup is going to be absolutely loaded, especially if they sign J-Dub too (ugh, the thought of that hurts). Adrian Gonzalez has a perfect Fenway Park swing, and for the first time in his career he will have legitimate protection. Just the thought of this is scary.
-
Pretty sad for the Padres. They had a great season, but are now trading their best player (and a guy who is relatively local) for financial reasons. And IMO they didn't get nearly enough.
-
Going to this. Which means the Sixers will probably win. 2-1 so far this season!
-
Sounds like Adrian Gonzalez-to-Red Sox is getting very close.

The outpouring of tweets about him is kind of crazy. His name is now on the US trending list. I knew he was a great writer, and from watching him on TV all those times he seemed like a great dude, but I honestly had no clue what kind of impact he had until now. Also, Rich Hofmann, perhaps my favorite current sports writer, absolutely nails the obituary. http://www.philly.com/philly/sports/20101203_Phil_Jasner__Sixers_beat_writer__dies_at_age_68.html

Nice of AI. And yeah, he was pretty big around here. He was a regular guest on the "Daily News Live" TV program that I have watched since I was a kid, so that's how I got familiar with him. All of his fellow writers have tons of respect for him.

I think he was sending a message to Turner, who has been awful lately. In fact, I think the original plan was to start Nocioni, but for whatever reason Nocioni did not play at all tonight. I guess he got banged up in warmups or something, I haven't heard any updates. It was nice to see Turner play well off the bench though.

This one stings. Normally, I haven't concerned myself with Sixers wins and losses this year, but I was really hoping they could pull this one out, especially with Phil Jasner passing away a couple hours ago. Absolute disaster of a game in a disaster of a season.
-
It is as if the Sixers are trying to lose. This is super disappointing. The first half was so encouraging. Find a way to win this one for Phil Jasner .
-
FYI, my favorite Phil Jasner memory will be how AI always sarcastically called him "Philip" in press conferences. Really funny.

There should be a nice tribute to him in the paper at some point this weekend. Looking forward to it.
