Barry Zito wins one game with smoke and mirrors and suddenly he gets to start game 1 of the World Series. Better yet, Matt Cain will only get one start the entire series. Solid work, Bruce. Normally I'd say Tigers in 4 or 5, but because of the long layoff, who knows. Hopefully it's a fun series.

Also, Juan Castillo fired today. Sucks, because from everything I have heard, he was doing a great job. The emergence of the defense has been my favorite part of the season (the only thing to enjoy this season?). After the Detroit collapse, he became an easy scapegoat I guess. Desperation time for Andy since I am sure he realizes he is next.

Yup, pretty much this. All comes back to one thing, though: Andy is too stubborn. Won't make adjustments during the game and won't change his overall philosophy to accommodate his roster's strengths and weaknesses. I have never considered ditching one of my teams, but the Eagles are making me come close. I just don't care anymore. I have supported him for so long, and have really wanted to see him win a Super Bowl here, but at this point Andy just has to go.

Supposedly this does not change the timetable, and he is still expected back for the regular season opener, so whatever. Just as long as he comes back healthy.

He has not been good, but I think the bigger problem is the coaching staff putting him in a position where he can't succeed. He does not have the arm to make some of the throws he is asked to make, as regularly as he is asked to make them.
