The long time Sixers beat writer for the Philadelphia Daily News is now in hospice, apparently about to lose his battle with cancer. Not sure how many of you have ever read his work or know who he is, but if you have ever posted a link on OTR to a Sixers story, there's a good chance you have posted some of Jasner's work. The Philadelphia sports media scene is about to lose a great one. Very sad.

The threats of violence from Cleveland fans are just silly. My dislike for LeBron James is as strong as anybody's, I think he is incredibly out of touch with reality and is a douche bag with a huge ego, but this is one of those times when you have to say "it's just a game". I would love to see the Cleveland fans tear him a new one, but I hope they do not go over the top. Either way, it will be great television.

Actually don't think the Berkman-to-Rockies thing is official yet. Troy Renck jumped the gun by reporting it yesterday. Anyway, today is non-tender day. Perhaps the biggest day of the Phillies offseason.

They have always kinda been like this, it's just not too noticeable since they have a somewhat limited budget. Denny Neagle, Todd Helton, Mike Hampton, now Tulo, etc. I doubt they will be paying Berkman much though.

Theriot is apparently going back to shortstop. To me, Theriot seems like a glorified version of the dude he is replacing (Brendan Ryan), with worse defense. Either way, the ultimate TLR guy, as I was mentioning earlier.

I'd understand if this was a competitive team and there just weren't minutes for him, but this is a terrible team and a lost season, so I'd just give the kids a chance. But admittedly, the NBA is not my strong suit and I am not totally sure about how this stuff is usually handled, so I guess it's not a huge deal.

This is one of the things about professional sports that drives me insane. Really, who cares if he was laughing? He was probably told a funny joke, he's human, get over it. Actually I should answer my own question, because there are insane fans out there who do care. I know the writer will defend himself by saying he was "only doing his job", which I suppose he was, but it's still a douchey question and it shouldn't matter (although to some people it unfortunately does). But with that said, Anderson could have handled the question better, as annoying as it was. He'd look a lot better.

Couple moves for the Cardinals today. Trade Blake Hawksworth to the Dodgers for Ryan Theriot. Also sign Brian Tallet. Maybe it's just me, but Ryan Theriot seems like the ultimate Tony LaRussa player. Not a surprise at all.
