Sad to see Steve Vallos get cut . Otherwise, nothing too surprising. Still 3 to go. 2 of which will likely be Mike Kafka and Mat McBriar.

Tyler Cloyd MLB debut tonight. I don't have terribly high expectations, but it's something interesting at least.

Darin Ruf in AA this season: .317/.408/.622, 36 HRs (18 in August). Unreal season, just sucks that he is 25 years old, still in AA, and plays first base. Will be fun to watch if he gets a look in September, though.

Brian Schneider to the DL. Steven Lerud, he of the .654 OPS in AA this season, gets called up to the Majors. Yes, a 28 year old with 9 career AAA games to his name (and none this season). But I definitely prefer this over rushing along Sebastian Valle or Tommy Joseph. Guessing Lerud doesn't see any game time unless Kratz gets hurt. Always cool to see these career minor leaguers get a shot in the Majors, though.

Well, I think it's a small markets vs. big markets thing. There is such a huge gap between the two. Bettman's stance in the negotiations is trying to find ways to help small market teams make money. When you look at those deals you mentioned, two were orchestrated by one of the most profitable American teams, one was a Canadian team, and the other was a team with a new owner trying to impress people by spending ridiculous amounts of money. If Nashville, Phoenix, or Florida had made any of those signings, then something would definitely be fishy. I am sure Paul Holmgren and Ed Snider are currently despised by at least 75% of the owners in these negotiations, haha.

Perez has been semi-douchey for a very long time, but that aside, I generally have no problems when athletes talk back to fans (when the fan deserves it).

He is a douche and he used PEDs. No argument there. The PEDs are not why he had good numbers this year.

More than anything, it's nice to see that they aren't "stuck in neutral" anymore. They definitely have a direction for the first time in like, 10 years.

This Melky thing is so overblown IMO. Guy busted for PEDs while in the midst of a "breakout year", so the hacks like Heyman and Morosi are having a field day. As expected. I don't think the PED use is the reason for his success this year, at all.

Garnett ate him up in the playoffs. It was no contest. There will be way more of that to come if he plays the 4 regularly this year.
