  1. Iron Pigs game is on MLB Network right now. Cool to see Dom Brown on TV. Which brings me to another point. He might be the top prospect in baseball right now, since basically everyone who has been ranked above him is now in the Major Leagues. I'd be shocked if Dom isn't in the Majors in September.
  2. Yeah, Lou Williams has replied once or twice. Our old friend "Diesel" actually had a lengthy chat with him once, and wound up getting himself blocked. For the record, Lou is a HUGE tool. At least that's how it would seem on Twitter.
  3. My b...already looking forward to next week!
  4. Matchups for Reds series... Tonight: Kyle Kendrick @ Johnny Cueto Tomorrow: Joe Blanton @ Mike Leake Wednesday: Roy Halladay @ Aaron Harang
  5. I am pretty sure that we get the 7th round pick if we don't sign Hamhuis before July 1st, which obviously isn't happening now. Since we traded his rights away, that 7th may not come afterall, I am not sure how that works. And I completely agree with your idea for how to spend the money.
  6. If he wasn't forced to throw 19 pitches yesterday in a game that was already over, I'd bet he does a bit better tonight. Obviously impossible to know for sure, oh well. I will take him on the Phillies anyway .
  7. Matt Stairs owns Broxton. In October anyway.
  8. The spirit of Matt Stairs lives in the Yankees.
  9. Actually, check that. He has faced a pretty week schedule so far. Still filthy though. Capable of dominating any lineup on any given day. I don't get what it is about the Red Sox though. Don't get me wrong, very good lineup, but there are definitely better ones. Somehow, they own the top pitchers though. Roy Halladay's worst start of the year was against them (and you can't chalk Halladay up as being a product of a weaker league, as you know he dominated the AL East for years), and then the Red Sox also beat up Jimenez and Lincecum
  10. Lincecum has been ordinary all year. Jimenez having his first rough start against the Red Sox is pure coincidence. I think he had the flu also. He has dominated better lineups.
  11. Can the Phillies have Broxton instead?
  12. So, in this instance Joe West helps the Phillies, but good lord can they just force retirement on the guy already?
  13. And Jamie Moyer also allows his 506th career HR, moving him into first place all time for HRs allowed. Jesus, this guy has been around a long time.
  14. Lots of scouts are very down on Bumgarner now. Apparently his fastball is barely touching 90 now.
  15. Sounds like he is going to become a UFA. Still have to like the Flyers chances of signing him though. Not many good goalies available and not many teams in the market for a starting goalie, so I see no reason why anyone would overpay him, unless he goes to the KHL. Also, sounds like Dan Hamhuis wants to go to free agency as well, and many think his preference is to stay in the western conference.
  16. Braves bullpen was imploding in the 9th. 4-3 lead and bases loaded with 2 outs, Johnny Damon up with a full count. "Strike 3" was a good 6 inches off the plate. Wish I had a screenshot of it.
  17. Hmm....Braves win with an assist by Gary Cederstrom. At least it is only June.
  18. Word is that the Flyers have a deal in place with San Jose to send them a draft pick next year in exchange for Nabokov, but only if they have a new contract in place by July 1st. The more I think about it, the more I want it to happen. Get it done Homer!
  19. And woops....meant to post that Nabokov thing in the Flyers thread.....my b.
  20. I don't think I have ever expressed my gratitude to the Rangers for drafting Sanguinetti in '06. The Flyers were set on taking him, but the Rangers grabbed him the pick before the Flyers went. So the Flyers "settled" for Claude Giroux. Thanks Rangers! .
  21. Two dudes from Southern California drafted in the first round, and a couple more drafted later. Couple Florida guys drafted too. Coolest part of the draft so far, if you ask me.
  22. It sounds like they might want to package him with Tim Thomas, which is the only reason the Flyers have been mentioned. Can't see why they'd want Savard on his own.
  23. With that said, they did a lot to make the Jays feel like the "home team"....it was kind of humorous actually. The Jays batters had their walk-up music played for them, and between innings they played the videos and promotions that they do in Toronto. And, there were a ton of Jays fans (surprisingly). Obviously way more Phillies fans though. But again, I am not trying to fool anyone, it was essentially a Phillies home game, just a very very strange one.
  24. Well, as I have said in the past, I am not going to try to convince anybody that having an extra 3 home games is fair by any means, but I am also not shedding a tear for the Braves or Mets (especially the Braves). They have far weaker interleague schedules.
