And we have our first blockbuster.... Thrashers get Dustin Byfuglien, Ben Eager, Brent Sopel, and Akim Aliu for a 1st round pick, 2nd round pick, Marty Reasoner and Jeremy Morin.

Ooo, Johan Santana accused of sexual battery. I bet Fish wishes he was the lucky girl.
-
I feel bad for him. Another case of a manager taking the bullet for a team that just isn't that good, and ownership that can't/won't do what it takes to keep the team good. At least Fredi Gonzalez will land on his feet somewhere. I've always thought he's a hell of a manager. Jeffrey Loria immediately lost all respect from me today when he said "we owe it to our fans to put our team in the best possible situation to win", or something like that. Yeah, Jeffrey, the way to do that is to spend a little money, not fire a terrific manager. Between this and the Joe Girardi episode a few years ago, you have to wonder what those guys' agenda is. But anyway, HHH is right. Terrific franchise!

I just hope that he either makes it, or doesn't make it. Don't put him on the fan ballot for the final roster spot. That would be so unfair to the other guys on the ballot, since it would be a slam dunk that the fans would vote for Strasburg. Ah, who am I kidding, the whole selection process is unfair to begin with, so I guess it doesn't matter.
-
I'd say no. Too many other pitchers having phenomenal seasons, and Stras has only made 3 starts.
-
Jimmy Rollins activated, Carlos Ruiz to the DL, Greg Dobbs DFAd, Mike Zagurski called up. Obviously bad news about Ruiz. And I feel bad for Dobbs. Great dude, huge part of the World Series team. But he has been so bad this year, so I definitely saw this coming. And obviously, fantastic news about J-Roll.
-
Yeah. It's a t-shirt actually. One of my favorite Phillies bloggers (zoowithroy.com, check it out) made it.
-
The most important part about acquiring Campbell is that they now have the league office, and in specific the league disciplinarian, on their side.
-
At least the injury situation appears to be clearing up. J-Roll will be activated this week, perhaps even tonight. JA Happ has made a couple rehab starts. None have been particularly impressive, but physically he says he is fine, which is great news. And Ryan Madson is apparently ahead of schedule. Those are the 3 main guys we need back.
-
And there we have it....
-
Yeah it has to be someone big going to Florida. ECN thinks it will be Bergeron or Krejci. And as for the Blackhawks, word is that Ladd is going to be traded, perhaps to Vancouver.
-
Horton to Bruins (still don't know the details yet) and Scott Niedermayer retires. Eventful start to the day. And oh yeah, 2010-2011 schedule released today.
-
If saying that makes you feel more confident in your masculinity or something, all the power to ya. But for the rest of us weaker personalities, it was a pretty emotional movie.

And speaking of Cliff Lee... I know I was fully supportive of the trade when it happened and hindsight is 20/20....but looking back, damn I wish Ruben did not trade him. And his ridiculous K/BB ratio this year or any other numbers are not what has changed my mind. I'd rather have the compensation picks when Lee leaves as a FA this winter over Aumont/Gillies/Ramirez (especially with Aumont getting lit up this year, again, hindsight FTW). As I have said recently, I am legitimately scared that Ruben is going to run this team into the ground within the next 3 years, especially considering that the rest of the division is on the rise. /rant. Sorry about that! Now back on topic... :glasses:

I would take Wainwright over Carp TBH.
-
Define "pitching well" He has gotten into the 7th inning in all but 2 starts this year.
-
Matchups for Indians series.... Tomorrow: Mitch Talbot @ Jamie Moyer Wednesday: Jake Westbrook @ Kyle Kendrick Thursday: Fausto Carmona @ Joe Blanton Finally, the schedule lightens up a bit.
-
It's June. Way too early. Also, last year Chris Coghlan didn't get to the Majors until May, and he still won. Probably different circumstances this year because it is a much stronger rookie class, but it is still too early to say one of those two is a lock and count out Strasburg and Stanton (and, to make Fish happy, Ike Davis). But the bottom line is it's June.
-
What do you care? You don't like professional sports, remember?
-
Ooo, Bruce Chen vs. Livan Hernandez. I think that matchup deserves its own thread.
-
As I posted in the Phillies thread, he has gotten a total of 9 runs of support in his 6 losses. And wow, Fish sticking up for a Phillie. The world must really be ending.
-
I know. Both are true stories. Weird guy.
-
To sum up how badly this team has underachieved.... Roy Halladay has 6 losses. Unreal. In those 6 losses, he has had a total of 9 runs of support.
-
I wonder if Billy Wagner still keeps a dildo in his locker and still enjoys showing off his taint to reporters.
-
Not as bad as Chris Wheeler (unfortunately one of the Phillies announcers) today. "That Mauer is a good looking hitter". I would take any local announcing team in baseball over Tom McCarthy and Chris Wheeler...blah. Don't get me started on these two.
