Great thread, would read again.

I am happy that Lou gets to go home. Of all the places for him to land, I am sure this was his top choice. Haven't seen the dollar figures yet, but I'd be willing to bet he left money on the table to make this happen.
-
He is still striking out almost 1 out of every 4 batters (strikeout rate is actually up this year). Most of his other peripherals are pretty close to career averages too. Seems pretty fixable.
-
It's been like that for most of the year. I always get the sense that most of the fans are only showing up because they bought the tickets before the season and feel obligated to go. Not much excitement anymore. I suspect there will be a lot of season ticket cancellations this offseason. Glad you had fun though!

Lisalverto Bonilla hurt his hand last night "horsing around with teammates" and won't be pitching in the Futures Game. This season is great.

FTR I think Lincecum will be fine.

Random Sixers Thoughts 2011-12

Andre Iguodala is on the Olympic team. Pretty cool. -
Pretty cool. Too bad I don't have my tickets for tonight. My seats are in 210, haha.

Hmm. For the most part, the food is good, although expensive. If you want to try a cheesesteak at some point on your trip, don't get it at the stadium. They aren't bad, but they are not as good as ones you can find elsewhere in the city, and they are super expensive. The Chickie's and Pete's crabfries are legit, though, so if you're looking to eat something specific to the region, I'd go with that (there is a Chickie's and Pete's in right field). If you want a sit down restaurant, Harry the K's is in left field right under the scoreboard. I have never eaten there, but it always looks pretty packed close to game time/during the game, so I'd probably avoid it unless you're there very early. If you're going to get there early, Ashburn Alley is pretty cool (it's the area with restaurants and stores that spans the entire outfield). That is where all of the unique food choices are, plus the "Wall of Fame" and mini Phillies history museum. I haven't really explored it in the past few years so I'm not 100% sure if they'd added anything to it, but if it's your first time at the stadium it might be worth checking out. Where are you sitting?

Nick Young reaches a deal with the Sixers
Phightins replied to Real Deal's topic in Philadelphia 76ers Team Forum
Well I guess we can't say with certainty until Lou signs, but I am sure it is money related. I'd probably hate this if it were more than a 1 year deal, but as it is I am totally fine with it. -

One year deal is perfect. Guess he wanted to come somewhere where he could pad his stats and cash in next offseason. Works for me. Most importantly, it means we won't be overpaying Lou. -
Sixers will amnesty Elton Brand

Could be good, could be bad. Depends on what they use the cap space on. -
Louis Williams not returning to Philly?
Phightins replied to Real Deal's topic in Philadelphia 76ers Team Forum
Yep, the team confirmed it too. Anyway, Lou drove me crazy at times, but all in all, I enjoyed watching him evolve over these past seven years. Will miss him, although this is definitely the right time to move on. Some team is going to get a very nice addition, even though I am sure they will be paying too much. -
Hey, some decent news today. I am a big fan of the Fedotenko deal. We also signed Bruno Gervais. Meh. Also, Holmgren pretty much said he isn't interested in trading Schenn/Couturier. Best news of all.
-
Hell of a trade for Houston. I wish Jeff Luhnow could be the Phillies GM.

Matt Carle goes to Tampa, and this offseason officially sucks.
-
Haha, I'd say you are massively overrating him. Yes he was fine for the first 6 or 7 games of the season, but I'd argue that was because he shot a ridiculous, unsustainable field goal percentage. Covered up the rest of his flaws (yes, there are a lot of them). I mean, there is a reason Hawes was essentially benched for all key minutes in the playoffs in favor of a guy 4 inches shorter than him. This signing doesn't make sense for a team in our position. It just reeks of a management group that is fine with running in neutral and not making progress. Sure, $13 million over 2 years is a fair price for a below average starting center, I guess, but what is the point? Seems like they are just spending money for the hell of it. The team is no better for this move. We'd be better off giving Hawes's minutes to some combination of Vucevic/Allen/cheap-free-agent-X and saving the money. Let Spencer be somebody else's problem.

Jrue Holiday seeking a max contract?
Phightins replied to Real Deal's topic in Philadelphia 76ers Team Forum
He may get it because this team is run by morons. -
Ugh. Awful. Not going to cripple us, but what an incredibly dumb use of $13 million. #mediocrity

I didn't say he was greedy. I said exactly what he said back in January. I can't fault anybody for taking that kind of money, I sure as hell would. Doesn't change his words though.

Funny that Jagr said a few months ago that hockey is not about the money anymore. Um, yes, it is ALL about the money. Thrilled the Flyers did not match that. A bit concerned about all the size we have lost on the wing this offseason in Jagr and JvR.
-
Jagr to Dallas for $4.5 (!!!!) million.
-
Like $4 million.
