Somebody offered me a ticket so I figured what the hell.

Laviolette rides the hot lineup until it's desperation time or somebody gets hurt. They are 2-0 with this current lineup. Hopefully nobody gets hurt but yeah, if they lose a game or 2 early I'd be shocked if Carcillo isn't back in the lineup.

You'd probably love it more if it started in the 3rd inning the game got called and the Braves 5-0 lead went to waste.

I am going to the USA vs. Turkey game tomorrow at Lincoln Financial. Never been to a soccer game before, never watched a soccer game before. Should be interesting.

Brian Boucher is officially going to be the backup tomorrow. Same lineup as game 4/5 of the Montreal series, Dan Carcillo a scratch. Less than 24 hours!

I hear FlashForward might get renewed after all. That would make me so happy, the finale last night was so good and left a major cliff hanger. If it gets cancelled, it would be an epic idea/show concept gone to waste.

So, not only are they horrendously bad right now, but they apparently can't catch a damn break either....wow. I understand that all teams go through slumps of some degree during the season, but this passed ridiculous a couple days ago. Unreal. Overshadowed by all of this is the fact that Cole Hamels has been really really good. Our best starting pitcher over the past 4 weeks.

I agree, I just find it funny that your stance on this has done a 180 over the past year, since it's now Phillies leading the voting and not Mets. On the Joe West topic, though. Sounds like he is getting fined and suspended. Thank goodness.

The only thing I can think of is that there will be no beach and no golf. So that affects what, a couple thousand (tops) multi-millionaires who probably don't give a [expletive] about football until Super Bowl week anyway? Well, they can put a sweater on and suck it up. For the other millions of fans who will either pay top-dollar to see the game in person, or go to their annual Super Bowl party and enjoy the experience with their friends, nothing will change and really nobody will care.

Well, I wouldn't read much into Takahashi's start tonight. The Phillies could probably make Oliver Perez look like Randy Johnson at this point.

Yeah last year you were defending the fan vote to the max when it was all Mets leading the voting for a while. But now that you mention Polanco, there really aren't any National League third basemen having significantly better seasons than him other than Casey McGehee. David Freese and Ryan Zimmerman are comparable I suppose. But clearly, Utley and Werth deserve to start. I think a strong argument could be made for Carlos Ruiz as well, though his 2-20 (I think) slump that he is currently in is hurting him.

The Phillies have some weird complex that causes them to look horrible against [expletive]-tastic pitchers. I almost wish we could face Johan Santana tomorrow! But on a funny (yet incredibly sad) note, over each team's last 7 games the Flyers have outscored the Phillies 23-15. Perhaps the worst part about this is that Jayson Werth shaved his beard because of the slump .

Weren't you the guy preaching last year about the all star game being about what "the fans want to see" when Reyes, Wright, Beltran etc had leads and didn't deserve it? But with that said, I HATE fan voting. Hated it last year, hate it just as much this year.
