  1. http://www.umpirejoewest.com/newjoe.jpg ^^That is actually his album, FYI.
  2. Yeah they are averaging over 8 runs per game. Placido Polanco went 2-for-5 today and his average dropped 37 points, lol. Obviously it won't go this amazing forever, but it's still a very fun lineup to watch.
  3. Tomorrow is going to be wild. Wish I got tickets when I had the chance.
  4. Mixed feelings on this. For starters, Joe West is right about one thing. Pace of game is something that Bud Selig and co. have been concerned with for a while. Yankees-Red Sox games are particularly long, mostly because those teams have probably the two most patient lineups in baseball. I have never seen the problem though. Baseball is beautiful because of the rhythm and pace of it. If a game runs 3 and a half or 4 hours (or longer), who really cares? The only people who have real issues with this are Fox and ESPN because of sponsorship/programming issues that arise when games run longer than the standard 3 hour time slot. If you are a fan and you have a problem with a game occasionally running very long, then honestly I would question your fan-hood. As for the guy saying this....Joe West should just shut his mouth. He is the worst umpire in baseball (actually I'll be generous, he is the 2nd or 3rd worst). He is a hack and nobody is going to take him seriously. Also, if players are not allowed to criticize umpires without getting fined, I think it needs to go both wys.
  5. I have liked this season a lot overall. Wasn't a huge fan of the last episode though. It was OK.
  6. Brad Lidge's line in low-A Lakewood today... 0.2 IP, 3 H, 4 R, 4 ER, 1 BB, 0 K Apparently even the two outs he got were very well hit deep fly balls. Ouch.
  7. Of course, with all the idiots who support this team that is inevitable. Even if they have two rookies backing up Kolb, people would be calling for one of them to start if Kolb has a bad game.
  8. Yeah honestly kingfish, shut up. How can you possibly question why you piss everybody off?
  9. Yeah the last couple of outs are always the toughest. Especially against a lineup as good as Tampa's.
  10. CC Sabathia has a no-hitter through 7 innings.
  11. Best hitter of all time by the time he is finished. Also, to a mod, I was thinking maybe we should "pin" this thread. What does everybody else think?
  12. When Jamie Moyer takes the mound to start tonight's game, he will become the 8th pitcher in MLB history to start a game in 4 different decades.
  13. ...Are you kidding me? The Bruins scored 3 short handed goals today....on the same kill. I am not going to lie, that might be one of the most unbelievable sports feats I have ever seen/heard of.
  14. Precisely the kind of guy we'd need to back up Kolb, methinks.
  15. Not really earth shattering news, but Adrian Wojnarowski tweeted this... Also... So I think we all knew that he would obviously be replaced, but hearing it come from a high-ranking NBA columnist gives it even more credence.
  16. Bold prediction: In 3 years, the Pittsburgh Pirates and Cincinnati Reds will be the top two teams in that division (okay maybe that's a stretch because I don't see the Cardinals fading to obscurity that fast). But really, I like what Neal Huntington is doing. He inherited arguably the biggest mess in pro sports, so it is going to take a while for that project to become complete. But I see them making some very positive steps. In a couple years, this will be a good team.
  17. Yeah it isn't even close. But if the Sixers ever get relevant you can bet everyone will be riding their bandwagon again. I remember the days (not too long ago, probably 10 years ago) when I was one of about 10,000 people at most Phillies games. And now, a couple league championships later, virtually all 81 home games are already sold out this season. I also remember the days when most Sixers games were sold out, and well, they certainly aren't anymore haha.
  18. With the Phillies on, and the Flyers playing their biggest game of the season, I wonder how many people in the Philadelphia region actually watched this. I know I sure didn't.
  19. Yeah it was only a matter of time before both realities sort of came together. I was wondering how they'd pull that off. And yes, it is going to be a wild ending.
  20. Placido Polanco has at least 2 hits and 1 run scored in every game this season.
  21. I actually disagree. The Flyers played OK tonight but mostly have been absolutely horrible the past few weeks. Brian Boucher has been bad, but the roster from top to bottom has been worse. Goalie problems or not I find this roster to be incredibly flawed and I think that regardless of if they miss the playoffs, the team needs to be semi-blown up. Problem is, that probably can't happen because of all these untradeable contracts.
  22. I saw Rod Barajas getting down and blocking the plate the other night. Couldn't believe my eyes.
  23. Oh god he was incredible. That one save he made on JVR in the 3rd was the difference in the game. Actually check that, the difference was the beach ball Boucher let in for the 4th Ranger goal.
  24. Not this year, but I predict they will be contending for the NL Central in 2-3 seasons.
