  1. Jim Thome, man. That was awesome.
  2. Yeah. I feel like it's difficult to judge this trade at all yet. Neither player has come close to their supposed "potential". I guess we'll need to give it a few years. What pisses me off about the Flyers, though, is how they panic and overreact so easily. First it was the Richards/Carter situation. Then last summer, the theme was that this is going to be Giroux and JvR's team for the next 10 years. Then, one injury plagued season later, and look where we are.
  3. No clue what to think. First glance, I'd call this trade a huge win for Toronto.
  4. And the Kings drafted Tomas Hyka. Of course they did. This is getting laughable.
  5. He is from New Jersey and on my keeper team. Why the hell would I be biased against him?
  6. (For the record, I'd probably vote for him for MVP if the season ended today. But the season does not end today and the BBWAA has such a flawed concept of what "value" means so it's impossible to predict).
  7. Bob traded to Columbus yesterday, for three picks (including #45 today). Honestly, very happy with the haul. Seems like goalies mostly have very little trade value. Perhaps the price on Bernier was too high, so the Flyers were able to drive up Bob's price and make it still seem like a bargain. I will still miss him, though. But it was a trade that needed to happen for various reasons. Drafted Scott Laughton in the first round last night. Supposedly an odd pick, but I won't pretend like I have a clue. Based on pre-draft rankings, it seems like we probably could have gotten him at 45, so 20 was a major reach. But who knows what sorts of things get factored into these picks.
  8. No preferences at all. Take the best guy on the board.
  9. This isn't news, but Jim Tracy is awful. Worst manager in baseball by a significant margin. And there are a lot of bad managers out there. He makes me thankful for Charlie Manuel's tactical skills (wait, what?).
  10. Yay Claude!! (Okay I'll stop pretending like I care too much about a video game cover)
  11. The Harding contract is interesting, considering all the campaigning he has been doing recently to be a #1 goalie. Surprised he didn't wait and test the market (although there's no way he'd get a better contract on the open market).
  12. Fourth highest 9-inning game score in MLB history, second best in a perfect game. Yeah, I'd say it's up there.
  13. Haha, this is just terrific. One of maybe three things I have enjoyed about this season has to have this happen to it. Splendid. In other terrible Phillies news, David Herndon is having Tommy John surgery, Michael Stutes is going to have shoulder surgery and will probably miss the entire season, and Laynce Nix had a "set back". And I thought we had hit rock bottom three weeks ago... What's below rocks?
  14. Haha yes. And my reaction is actually milder than that of most Phillies fans. Not pretty.
  15. I'm not sure defense is something that a 27 year old can pick up overnight. In which case, he probably peaked this past year.
  16. Charlie really has trolling down to a science.
  17. Somebody will overpay him massively, which will make his loss slightly more bearable.
  18. And because Charlie Manuel must really hate me, Jonathan Papelbon has just entered a game in which the Phillies are down 4 runs. Because he "needs work". Work which apparently can't be obtained in a tied, extra inning game on the road. Noted. And Bastardo up in the bullpen. It would be great if the Phillies used their two best RPs today with a multi-run deficit, after trotting Savery and Schwimer out there in a tie game yesterday, wouldn't it?
  19. Redmond seems like a douche (no offense).
  20. Kendrick in Toronto is an absolutely frightening matchup. Lets reevaluate in a few hours...
  21. WOW. Just read on Twitter that we are now 0-16 in games Joe Savery has appeared in this year. Mostly meaningless since he has not directly contributed to the result in most of these, but remarkable. One of the strangest stats about this season that I've seen. He hasn't been good, but hasn't been terrible either. Although, with Kendrick in the rotation, I guess Savery is the de-facto "mop-up guy"...so he comes into quite a few games where we are down early. Mind blowing.
  22. Pretty much. Can't believe our prized pinch hitter Mike Fontenot wasn't able to come through And lol. Pretty typical that Savery was actually looking pretty good, with a strikeout and getting Davis down 0-2, but can't finish it. Welp...
