  1. I actually agree. This is so shocking, so everybody is having severe knee-jerk reactions. We need to give this a couple days for the shock to wear off, then we can better evaluate it.
  2. Not sure if any of the Philly fans on here are familiar with The700Level blog.....but if so, check it out. Comments section is exploding haha. I understand why people would be upset over this but some people need to get a grip lol.
  3. The Eagles are still a good team. Rebuilding, yes, but not a conventional rebuild. Still lots of talent.
  4. I am OK with him getting traded, not OK with him going to a division rival.
  5. I guarantee you it is not a coincidence. The other 3 pro sports teams in town have good relationships with each other, but none of them can stand the Eagles. Most sports writers in the area actually called this a while ago. It doesn't surprise me at all.
  6. Also, it is NOT a coincidence that this trade is made the night before Opening Day. This organization is an attention whore, they can't handle the fact that the Phillies have officially taken over the city.
  7. I like Citi Field. Never been to Fenway but I'd love to this year. I understand what Fish is saying, though. If Fenway is anything like old Yankee Stadium was, I am sure it is a dump, but still probably really cool. Going to a game at old Yankee Stadium was awesome despite how outdated it was.
  8. Why would you have felt bad? If you blow a lead that big to a team as bad as the Sixers and lose, you deserve it.
  9. So, I decided to start the playoff beard a little early this year, seeing as basically every game from now on is pretty much a "must win". But really....if this team manages to miss the playoffs, they will be on New York Mets level.
  10. I think because they will be in a dome. They always schedule an off-day right after opening day just in case it gets rained out, so everyone else opens up on Monday, has a day off Tuesday, and has their 2nd game on Wednesday. It's a money thing, basically. People pay a ton of money for Opening Day so they need to make sure that they get to see it. If they didn't have it set up like that, and they played the day right after Opening Day, technically that 2nd game would become the 1st game in the case of a rain out and everybody with Opening Day tickets gets screwed. And obviously in a dome, this is unnecessary.
  11. Teams in the same division can't play each other in the first round.
  12. Here are a few of mine off the top of my head. http://scrapetv.com/News/News%20Pages/usa/images-2/elo-out-of-the-blue-lp-cover.jpg http://www.rock107.com/albums/The-Top-107-Albums-Of-All-Time/Bruce_Springsteen_Born_To_Run.jpg http://ulthar.files.wordpress.com/2009/03/led-zeppelin-houses-of-the-holy.jpg http://images.uulyrics.com/cover/b/billy-joel/album-the-stranger.jpg http://upload.wikimedia.org/wikipedia/en/9/92/ACDC_Back_in_Black.png http://www.amoeba.com/dynamic-images/blog/10WHITEALBUM.JPG http://3.bp.blogspot.com/_9B6Jxv_c8ls/SZmiASrqzsI/AAAAAAAAGx0/Oi7GF89qxfM/s400/The_Eagles_-_On_the_Border.jpg http://upload.wikimedia.org/wikipedia/en/3/3b/Dark_Side_of_the_Moon.png
  13. At least it was a good game... Jrue Holiday and Andre Iguodala were fantastic.
  14. Haha...they picked the Mets to win the World Series last year. But really, the Mets do not look very good on paper, but games are not played on paper. I certainly hope they suck again but nothing would surprise me.
  15. The Mariners improved no doubt about it, but they don't look like a World Series contender to me, basically for the reasons Fish mentioned. It seems like a lot of Mariners fans think that since they improved, they are now better than the elite AL teams. I just don't see it. I actually have them finishing 3rd in that division.
  16. I certainly like the Rockies in that division. Some scouts are saying not to buy the hype with them, but they look very strong to me. And the Marlins seem to have the Phillies number every year. That team is incredible with what they're able to do on such little money.
  17. Went to the game tonight. They are back at CBP for their final 2 spring training games vs. the Pirates. Even though it was a meaningless preseason game, there's nothing like getting to the stadium for the first time every spring. Kyle Kendrick was dealing, as he has been all spring.
  18. Well...that's all hindsight. If the Flyers could have predicted at the deadline that Leighton was going to hurt his ankle and be done for the year I am sure they would have made a trade, and Halak would have been a strong possibility. Anyway, I did not see the game since I was next door at the Phillies game, but everything I am reading says the Flyers played a very strong game but Halak was just incredible. Typical.
  19. I know what you're saying and unfortunately knowing this organization, all of those picks may go to waste. But if they have a plan on how to use them, I won't kill them for it yet.
  20. Well, until we know what they plan to do with all of these picks I'm not sure how it can be called overkill.
  21. This is basically how I feel about it. I have had a feeling Sheldon was on his way out for a while now. He has never seemed happy here and there wasn't a snowballs chance in hell the Eagles were going to give him the new contract he wanted. I consider Gocong/Hall a toss-up (although I really know nothing about Hall, I'm just hearing he is very similar to Gocong). So to me it just comes down to Sheldon for those draft picks. It would have been nice to get a bit more but I've accepted the fact that there was no chance Sheldon would be back.
  22. Alright, Sebastien Caron cleared waivers and will be in uniform tonight (he will become the 7th goalie to dress for the Flyers this season....wow). Brian Boucher still gets the start, however. Also, Caron is ineligible to play in the postseason since they signed him after the trade deadline. Apparently Johan Backlund may be ready to go on Sunday, so this is going to get very interesting. One thing is for sure....must win game tonight vs. Montreal.
  23. I use it for precisely the reason N4S said. It is by far the best way to get breaking sports news. The beat writers will ALWAYS post their breaking news on Twitter before anywhere else. They all love being the first to break a story, and it is much faster to write a 140 character "Tweet" than it is to write up a whole story. It is one of the greatest innovations for sports fans of the past 10 years, easily. I don't understand why so many people don't understand the point haha. I will agree though, I can't stand the "average Joes" with 15 followers who constantly post updates. But those of you using that as a reason to bash Twitter should realize that just because you have an account doesn't mean you need to do that. I've only made 3 "Tweets" in my entire time on Twitter I think, and all of them were questions to beat writers of my favorite teams. You should all really try it out. I think now pretty much all sports writers have them and as I said, you will always hear about breaking sports news on Twitter before anywhere else. Every time.
