The 76ers are officially eliminated from the playoffs. What a disappointment!

That was embarrassing, but of all the problems with this team, Sammy's defense is about as far down the list as anything. That is one thing he does do well. Not sure what kind of point is trying to be made here.

I can now empathize a bit with Fish. This is getting close to New York Mets-level bad luck.

I agree with Fish to a certain degree. There is a very good chance the Twins will regret this contract in 4-5 seasons. But I also stand by what I said earlier. They absolutely had to get him resigned and I think they basically gave him a blank check to get it done.

Yeah it was a bit too expensive for my tastes as well, but the Twins absolutely had to lock him up. The fall out would have been worse than what it'd be in St. Louis if they let Pujols walk.

I wouldn't count on it but you never know.

Yesterday was the first time I saw David Herndon pitch (Rule 5 pick from the Angels). He looked filthy. His changeup looked really really good. Apparently Charlie Manuel and Rich Dubee like him a lot and he has a great chance of making the team.

Went to the game. Sat in the usual upper level seats, but somehow managed to sneak around the obnoxious ushers and sit down in the lower level for the majority of the game. Too bad it was such a [expletive]ty game to watch up close. Jrue was one of the lone bright spots, as usual. Speights was good as well.

No kidding the system is flawed, everyone realizes this. But the reason they are making an example out of Wisniewski is because he is an average player on a non-playoff team. And I have no problem with 8 games, I think he deserved it. The problem is the inconsistency with other suspensions.

Haha I was driving to the airport on Weds night and drove past Wachovia Center right as the game was about to start. Drove past a car with about 5 Nets bumper stickers, and flags attached to the roof. 5 or 6 guys in Nets gear were packed into it. They were obviously traveling down for the game since they clearly had no clue where they were going. Props for traveling to see the Nets play, haha.

This is their chance to make a "statement". Wisniewski is an average player on a team that will not make the postseason. It was a brutal hit and obviously deserved a lengthy suspension, but that is why they have been so inconsistent.

Nope. And also, ECN were discussing this earlier, and the Ducks announcers might be the worst in the NHL. That was such a filthy hit and all they could say was "I think Seabrook was diving"? Terrible. The Pittsburgh Penguins announcers might give them a run for the money, though.

The entire thing is BS, obviously the trade makes absolutely no sense for the Cardinals. It makes just as little sense for the Phillies. And FYI Kyle Drabek is a Blue Jay.

This is fantastic. Check out the Flyers goalie depth chart from just a few weeks ago. 1. Ray Emery (done for season) 2. Michael Leighton (hurt tonight..high ankle sprain) 3. Brian Boucher (appears to be the #1 for the time being) 4. Johan Backlund (currently in the AHL, injured in practice today) 5. John Grahame (was Backlund's backup in the AHL but was claimed by the Colorado Avalanche) 6 and on....????? So yeah, if Leighton is out for a while this team is [expletive]ed. There's some speculation that they might call up Nic Riopel (5th round draft pick last year) on one of those short term emergency deals.

Well this game is off to a great start....down 3-1 halfway through the first period and Michael Leighton pulled out of the game with some sort of leg/knee injury (Brian Boucher gives up a weak goal on the first shot he faces). Also...the Predators goal chant: "He shoots. He scores. You suck". Really?

I think he's probably close to ready now, just no room for him. But RF will be his when Werth leaves after this season. But it'd definitely be good to see him put up a nice, full season in AA/AAA to know he's ready for sure.
