Uh....if it becomes obvious he has lost the team? What else exactly needs to happen for that to become obvious? They are losing almost every game (and are not even really competitive in most of them anymore...at least they played lots of close games earlier on). None of the players give a [expletive] anymore. There is always at least one war going on between him and a player through the media. So yeah, somebody tell me when it becomes "obvious" enough.

Cole Hamels has been awesome in his two spring appearances so far. I know it is not worth getting too excited about, since it's just spring training, but his curveball is apparently looking very very good. So that is what I am excited about.

Good chance Joe Nathan is done for the season. Huuuuuuge blow for Twins.

I am thrilled that the Eagles did not spend that kind of money on Julius Peppers. I do wish they would have made more of a run at Kampman though.

Yeah I heard Howard say that as well. Problem is, we have to remember who this is coming from. Howard's "sources" have let him down in the past. Sure hope he is right this time though. And yeah, it does make sense. There isn't much of a point to getting rid of him now.

Fantasy baseball is the second best fantasy game IMO (after football of course). My only tip is stay away from pitchers in the really early rounds. I guess it all depends on your settings though. Definitely stay away from relief pitchers until the end of the draft, you can always find some late round steals (for example, my closers last year were Jonathan Broxton and Heath Bell, and I got them pretty late). Going for big name closers early on is not the best idea. So just pay attention to the teams with closers jobs up in the air in spring training and see who they settle on.

Seems like Kyle Kendrick is really determined to get that 5th starters job. Had his second impressive outing of the spring today against the Yankees... 3 IP, 1 H, 0 R, 0 BB, 1 K, 33 pitches (23 strikes). He has thrown 5 innings this spring without a walk.

Sources: Iverson Has Alcohol Troubles
Phightins replied to The Regime's topic in Philadelphia 76ers Team Forum
Yeah that is some horrible journalism. Nobody knows why Allen is getting a divorce except Allen and his family. Speculating that alcohol may have had something to do with it is pretty irresponsible. -
Domonic Brown is incredible. Just throwing that out there.
-
Yes, he is competing for the fifth starting spot. I have a feeling that unless he gets hurt or does beyond horrible this spring, he will get the job since they will be paying him $8 million this season, and they have less to lose by sending Kyle Kendrick to AAA or to the bullpen.
-
I think in terms of pitching, he will have more of an impact with Kyle Kendrick because they are similar pitchers. But as far as the mental side of baseball goes, having Roy Halladay and Jamie Moyer on the same roster is going to be incredible for all of the young pitchers.

Lol, this game was so typical. Every time the Sixers play a good team, they either get an early lead, or hang in there early. Then Eddie puts one of the worst imaginable defensive lineups on the court (in tonight's case, Lou Williams/Willie Green/Marreese Speights/Rodney Carney/Thaddeus Young) and the other team builds a bit of a lead, and then the Sixers just fold in the 4th. They did make it a little interesting at the end like they usually do, but this team is like a broken record.

I will be attending this game.

I hear that Cole Hamels looked very good today, despite giving up a homerun on the 2nd pitch of the game. His velocity on his fastball was consistently 89-90 mph, and last year he was struggling to consistently hit 86-87 even in late April. Also, he was mixing in his curveball a lot more than he used to, as well as his two new pitches, a cutter and a sinker. I guess Roy Halladay isn't the worst guy in the world to get pointers on throwing a sinker from.

Some fans are so dumb... Yesterday when it was announced that Emery is done for the season, on the Facebook fan page, 99.9% of the comments were "it's okay, Emery blows. Thank god he is hurt. Michael Leighton, now there is a real goaltender. He has been incredible and I trust him to lead this team to the playoffs blah blah blah". So today, the trade deadline comes and goes and nothing happens, thus confirming the front office's commitment to Leighton, and tonight in the first game since that, Leighton gets absolutely rocked and those same idiot fans are bashing Holmgren for not trading for a "real" goaltender. Give me a break. Ville Leino has been the lone bright spot tonight, in his Flyers debut. Also Jeff Carter extended his goal-scoring streak to 6 consecutive games.

First exhibition tonight! Vs. Florida State.
-
Apparently the Flyers are talking about Tomas Kaberle. That would be incredible, I just don't see where the cap space/draft picks/prospects are going to come from.
-
Yeah I saw that the other day and found it hilarious.
-
They do not have any prospects or draft picks to trade.
-
I don't think they really want/need a goalie, but it couldn't hurt to ask. I just found it humorous that the Panthers would have the balls to ask for Carter. From what I'm reading, their main target is still Dan Hamhuis and they have Garnet Exelby as a possible fall-back plan (so lets hope they get Hamhuis lol).
-
Apparently the Panthers want Jeff Carter for Tomas Vokoun... Yeah...about that...
-
Hopefully they saved some offense for tomorrow night.
-
Yep it was the Iverson thread.
-
For that cap hit, I'll pass. Well, it isn't much actually (I think 2-ish mil), but with the Flyers as tight against the cap as they are that could go to far better use. The size of the upgrade from Leighton to Roloson (if there is one at all) is not enough to justify that.
