Trade agreed upon. Phillies get Roy Halladay, Mariners get Cliff Lee, Blue Jays get prospects (no clue who yet). Phillies working on extension now.
-
I have not heard anything (other than the fact that Roy Halladay and his representatives are in Philly to negotiate a new deal/take a physical), but it sounds like Cliff Lee will be going somewhere else as a part of this deal (Seattle maybe).
-
Roy Halladay and his agent checked into a Philadelphia-area hotel today.
-
Ed Price has a "source" that says John Lackey is in Boston for a physical today.

I know the Cowboys hope Christmas comes soon because that will mean December is almost over.

Feels like July again. Except 60 degrees colder.

Deal. Honestly.

I wouldn't expect the Flyers to deal for Halak. As I was saying I think they will try to hold it down with Boucher and Grahame until Emery comes back. If Carter (or even Briere) goes Homer sure as hell better make it worth it. And I don't know why he wouldn't, his job is on the line now so he really better have something special up his sleeve.
-
Well, it would come down to Carter, JVR, and Giroux I think (especially van Riemsdyk and Giroux). Richards has like 9 years left on a 12-year contract, and nobody wants to touch the contracts of Hartnell or Briere. I could see Carter being moved if Holmgren wants a major shake up, but I'd certainly hope he gets a hell of a haul for him. I see no way JVR or Giroux gets moved but I could be wrong. And ECN, I would not. I'd trade Hartnell for Thomas though .

I heard Holmgren was interested until the Canadiens told him they wanted a top-6 forward in return, at which point Homer hung up the phone. They just signed John Grahame yesterday so I think they will try to hold down the fort with what they have until Emery comes back. Goaltending is the least of their problems anyway. But you never know. Flyers are in the middle of a brutal 3-game stretch right now (New Jersey, Boston, and Pittsburgh). They already lost to NJ and there is a lot of speculation that should they lose the next 2 there will be a major trade before that "trade freeze" thing at the end of December. Not sure what that means, but there's a lot of talk about that around here.

Do you have tix to the game on the 21st vs Florida?

Worst thing youve witnessed as a Sixers fan
Phightins replied to Amare320's topic in Philadelphia 76ers Team Forum
The worst single moment that I witnessed in person was Hedo Turkoglu's game winning shot in game 4 of the Magic series last year. This 12-game losing streak is pretty [expletive]ing frustrating too. They are in almost every game in the final minutes, but a combination of Eddie Jordan being a retard and just a general lack of an ability to finish has led to twelve losses in a row. Also, going to games in a silent building that is 1/4 full and nobody gives a [expletive] is pretty depressing too. -
This is a joke. I understand that everybody goes through losing streaks, but there is way way way way way too much talent on this team for them to be losing 10 of 12 (with the only 2 wins in that span being against the [expletive]ing New York Islanders). I gave up trying to figure out what is wrong. Well I know one thing that wasn't wrong (the coach). But he was the scapegoat, and the team continues to lose and lose.
-
Yeah it seems like a ridiculous concept. I am hoping it doesn't come to that but if it did (for the reasons I listed) I would understand it.
-
Wonder when the Flyers will actually catch a break.
-
Couple reasons. First, nobody knows if he can stay healthy for a full year. Remember he did not start pitching until July this year. Second, he wants more money than the Phillies (or anybody really) would be willing to pay for a 5th starter. Still a chance he comes back but I don't see it happening.
-
Pedro is a free agent who most likely will not be back, and if they deal for Halladay I'd expect to see Blanton traded to clear up salary. So not quite that exact rotation.

The Phillies objective is to insure that they have a true ace locked up beyond this coming year. This core is in their prime and they do not want to miss a beat if they lose Lee. While I agree that the best possible scenario is having both of them and getting them both locked up, if they feel they have a good chance of losing Lee and decide to pull the trigger on a trade like this I'd understand it. I had previously heard that the Phillies would try to deal for Josh Johnson or Felix Hernandez next year if they were to lose Lee, but something like this would solve that problem.

Ken Rosenthal speculated that the Phillies may try to swing a three-team deal for Halladay, including sending Cliff Lee somewhere. At first I read the headline and just assumed Ken was going off the deep end, and did not really put any stock into it. He does not have any "sources", this was just his personal speculation. So I dismissed it as ridiculous earlier, but after thinking about it and reading some local guys takes of it, it actually would make a bit of sense. The jist of the deal is this: the Phillies would send Cliff Lee somewhere for a package of prospects the Blue Jays like, and they'd in turn send those guys to Toronto for Halladay. Both Lee and Halladay are free agents next winter. Halladay has apparently said that he almost certainly wants an extension worked out with his new team before being traded, and also that Philadelphia is his top destination. The Phillies met with Lee's representatives last week and it sounds like no progress was made, and that Lee might want to test free agency next year. So, while doing this trade might sound counterproductive on the surface, it would insure that the Phillies have a true ace locked up beyond this coming season should Lee not come to an agreement and leave in free agency. Obviously, my dream scenario is that the Phillies can keep Lee around and still trade for Halladay (and obviously keep him here long term), but if all else fails I'd be for this. I have thought from the time we traded for Lee that he'd want to test free agency when he got there. It will be tough to sell this to all the feeble-minded fans and media in this town, but it does make a bit of sense.

This is getting truly and utterly ridiculous. What the hell gives, seriously?

The Sixers are playing a good team and have it close with a few minutes left. Where have I seen this before? This script plays itself out the same way every time, Houston fans have nothing to worry about. Hopefully I can come back on here and eat my words in a few minutes.

Ed Wade tried trading Ryan Howard to Pittsburgh for Kip Wells. Almost as bad as that one.
-
Because Ruben Amaro has said that they probably aren't trying to make a big move. But he is bluffing like he always does, and almost everybody knows it. ESPN just hasn't caught on.

Werth is gone one way or the other.
