  1. I would love a Phillies Yankees World Series, but I honestly don't care what the matchup is as long as the Phillies are in (which still isn't set in stone yet, despite the attitude that many Phillies fans have after last night).
  2. Yeah. Going for matchups would have been fine in the 7th or 8th in a tie game, but in the 11th, didn't seem like the right call. Of course, had Aceves gotten Kendrick/Mathis out this would be a non issue.
  3. Girardi is going to take quite a bit of heat, and rightfully so. I know hindsight is 20/20, but in an extra inning game I'd have wanted to get as many innings out of Robertson as possible. Not to mention he was dealing and had only thrown 11 pitches.
  4. The Phillies offense has been absolutely shut down by Wolf. Probably shouldn't even have the 2 runs they had. Howard wound up in a 3-1 count that should have been 2-2 (the 2-1 pitch was called a ball and it had a ton of the plate). No way does Howard get that fastball if it's 2-2. Anywho, still within striking distance, although that Blake RBI hurt. Blanton didn't make the worst pitch and Blake got it off the end of the bat.
  5. Would you mind posting a picture of the Seattle Seahawks trophy case? Kthnx.
  6. Blanton is pitching. And what makes you think that? Because Wolf had a rare rough game against St. Louis and because Blanton's most recent start was pretty much his only poor one post-all star break? Anywho, should be a good one tonight.
  7. It would be awesome if they win tomorrow. I am going to game 5 and seeing a potential clinch game would be sweet .
  8. It was nice to win a game and save my fingernails at the same time. Hopefully they saved some runs for the rest of this series.
  9. 1. Matt and I are different people. 2. I have personally not said a word about the Cowboys all season. 3. Well at least we can find common ground somewhere. :glasses:
  10. Show me where I said this would be a free win. The Eagles always struggle against the teams they shouldn't struggle against, I assumed nothing. Anywho, you are clearly just saying that to get a rise out of the Eagles fans, so mission accomplished I suppose. Enjoy this win, there won't be many more.
  11. The o-line was brutal. King Dunlap....sorry bro but you are not an NFL player. And Winston Justice has been a pleasant surprise so far this year but today he was not too great. We need some healthy bodies in a hurry.
  12. The Eagles always always always have one game against a [expletive]ty team where they come out completely flat in all aspects of the game. Never thought it'd be against Oakland though. I am more concerned about the injuries than anything.
  13. Seems like Murphy is pulling something after almost every whistle. But this has the feel of one of those typical games the Eagles have every year, where they don't show up and lose to a bad team. Luckily we have a quarter left and are only down 4. This can still be had, but they have a lot of work to do. The o-line is in shambles, and lots of guys are getting beat up all over the field. Hopefully none of these injuries are too serious, but DeSean looks like he is in a lot of pain.
  14. I disagree entirely. In baseball more-so than the other sports, with a lot of the "rules" or "guidelines", it is more about being consistent than following the rule book as an exact science. Obviously there are a lot of things that are just clear cut, but a lot that aren't as well. Anywho, we will never agree on this, so good night. I need to wake up in 5 hours so unfortunately I will miss the end of this game.
  15. You should be allowed to do whatever the umpire dictates. If something is alright in the first inning or third inning, it sure as hell better be alright in the tenth. And it really is similar to the strike zone thing, since some umpires will allow you to straddle the bag like Aybar did and some umpires will not, just as some umpires will squeeze pitchers to death and others will give them an inch or 2 off the plate.
  16. That's irrelevant if the umpire has been letting them get away with it all game long. You can't just start calling it differently in the tenth inning. Obviously the rule book says you need to touch the base, but most umpires let middle infielders get away with what Aybar did. But again, it's all about consistency. If he had been making him touch the bag all game long, then the "safe" call would have been alright. It's the same deal as strike zones. There is technically a rule book definition of a strike zone, but every umpire has their own unique one, and the only important thing is that they stay consistent.
  17. Thad hurt his eye last night apparently. Didn't hear anything other than that.
  18. Lol Jimmy Clausen FTW. He did have a pretty good game though other than that.
  19. Wow what a game. Notre Dame almost pulled it off. EDIT: Looks like it might not be over yet. Crazy game haha.
  20. Joe Blanton will start game 4, as I expected. Also, this is only Jim Thome's second trip back to Philly since he was traded after the 2005 season. He was a big time fan favorite here, so it will be interesting to see what kind of reception he gets should he come up to bat in the 8th or 9th with the game on the line haha.
