This is the best game I have seen all year.
-
Cliff Lee will start game 1. Some guys not on the NLDS roster: Eric Bruntlett, Clay Condrey, Tyler Walker, Sergio Escalona. Kyle Kendrick, Antonio Bastardo, and Miguel Cairo all made it.

I agree. Not to piss off Waldo (you seem like a good kid and an exception to the Yankee fan stereotype), but as a whole I cannot stand New York Yankee fans and next to seeing the Phillies win the World Series, very little would make me happier than seeing the Yankees get knocked out in the first round. I too think that Detroit stands a better chance of doing that, which is why I am slightly rooting for them tomorrow night.

Also...(and this is completely hypothetical, obviously with the times of the year that the seasons occur, as well as the schedule and playoff structures, a situation like this would never happen)...but imagine that it was an early regular season baseball game scheduled for tonight, and the NFL needed a one game playoff that would also normally be tonight. I can guarantee you that the baseball game would get moved to accommodate the NFL game, regardless of the MLB matchup or if it was scheduled for national TV. As a baseball fan first, this annoys me. Obviously the NFL is more popular in this country, so that's how it is, but it is still annoying to me. All I was trying to say. As I pointed out, I knew that the guys like Diesel who are NFL fans first would either not care or would disagree.

I am not arguing whether or not the football game is a big deal. Obviously Favre vs the Packers is a big deal. It's just pretty annoying that this Tigers/Twins race has been building up to a climax for the past two weeks, and now we have to wait an extra day for the tie breaker. It will be nice when there are no more multi-purpose stadiums. Also Minnesota doesn't really have control, this is all Major League Baseball. Had the Tigers won the coin toss, the game would be happening tonight. Then it would be a real dilemma for Minnesota fans haha.

Yes every game is on TBS.

I'd vote for the Braves. I think that they have the best rotation 1-5 in the National League, and pitching typically wins in the postseason. In a short series, the Giants would be very tough to beat, but in a 7 game series I honestly think the Braves could beat just about anybody. Very happy to see that they didn't make it haha.

Absolutely no way bye's would work in baseball. These teams are playing almost every single day for six straight months, they would completely get thrown off. The teams with the first round byes would get absolutely wrecked in the second round. Also, one of my favorite parts about baseball is that the playoffs are so selective. You have to be one of the four best teams in the league (well in most cases) to make it. In the NBA and NHL, mediocre teams can slip in as 7 and 8 seeds. Nothing against that, I think it is cool for those sports, but I'd rather keep baseball as it is.

Relating to this game....is anybody else annoyed that this game is pushed back to Tuesday because of a week 4 NFL game? I know that Monday Night Football is a big deal, and obviously there is no way the time of that game would get adjusted, but the concept is pretty whack to me. An MLB playoff game gets put on the back burner for a relatively meaningless NFL game. I know that all of the guys on here who are NFL fans first and MLB fans 2nd (if at all) will disagree, but this bugs me a lot.

Wow...somebody's outlook on Detroit has changed over the past few years, eh?
-
Every game gets its own time slot. Obviously the Yankees, Red Sox, etc get prime time. The Phillies always get the [expletive]ty times for the NLDS.
-
I honestly don't care who wins, but this is about as exciting as it gets in sports. Cannot wait to watch.
-
Looks like I need to skip some classes on Wednesday and Thursday. First pitch is 2:37 for both Game 1 and Game 2. Well, that sucks.
-
Miguel Cairo has been very good and I think he may have won a spot on the playoff roster. Only downside of carrying him over Bruntlett is that we will have literally no speed on the bench, and all of the Phillies fans should be able to remember the impact Bruntlett had in the postseason last year as a pinch runner.

Phillies/Rockies in the NLDS. Game 1 Wednesday at CBP.
-
Emery has been awesome.

Jays fire Ricciardi after eight-year tenure of mediocrity

He [expletive]ed up the Halladay situation horribly. Have kinda seen this coming ever since that. -
Sarcasm detector a bit off this morning, eh?
-
Wow, bullpen is an absolute mess from top to bottom.
-
I had it online too but it was the Carolina feed, and the quality was horrible, so I switched it off after 5 mins or so. Honestly I was happier listening to our radio guys.
-
Emery with the shutout in his Flyers debut. I had to listen on the radio, but it sounds like he was very impressive. The Flyers also killed 7 penalties. The radio guys said some were total BS, but I guess that is Philadelphia Flyers hockey, have to get used to it again.
-
I'd rather play the Dodgers to be honest, but it's looking like we'll probably get Colorado one way or the other.
-
JC Romero is out for the entire postseason and it does not look good for Chan Ho Park either. Looks like Tyler Walker and Sergio Escalona may have spots on the playoff roster.
-
Nobody really cares about the Devils either. The Rangers dominate that market.
-
They are way better on paper than they were last year, but the one thing last year's team had going for them is that they were almost unbeatable down the stretch in September and that carried into the postseason. They have been pretty mediocre the past few weeks. The offense has been very inconsistent as a result of all the strikeouts (this is the one and only time I will agree with ECN on this point). Also, not sure what has gotten into Lee the past month but he has been very hit or miss. Luckily, I think we match up pretty well with Colorado, and the Dodgers and Cardinals are sort of in the same situation as us (not playing their best ball coming down the stretch). Honestly nothing would surprise me in the playoffs. I think any of the 4 teams could easily win the pennant.
