Well, the Islanders are not doing too much better than the Coyotes are in Phoenix haha. Even the Devils have a very hard time drawing fans, and they are actually worthy of being in the NHL.

Blair Betts signed today.

Pretty sick sig dude. Pretty cool to see that he is getting some props from baseball fans outside of Philly now.

LOL I was going to post this. Hello new avatar.

Can't blame Shapiro for the fact that they are a middle market team that had absolutely no shot of signing those guys once they hit free agency. He traded them all at exactly the right time. The Sabathia situation was unfortunate, since they were not playing that horribly at the time they traded him, but he was absolutely 100% going to walk in the winter. As for Lee and Martinez, the team was playing horribly even with them. They had a combination of injury problems and guys underachieving. Bottom line is the team flat out underperformed and the manager had to be held accountable. I think Wedge will land on his feet somewhere though.

Are the 82-83 Sixers a top 3 team of all-time?
Phightins replied to Diesel's topic in Philadelphia 76ers Team Forum
Kobe could take them 1 on 5, obviously. -

Three-peat!

There is too much talent in that organization for them to go from the ALCS in 07 to back to back seasons like they have just had. I like Wedge a lot but it was a move that had to be made.

James van Riemsdyk, Mika Pyorala, Danny Syvret, and Ole Tollefsen have all made the roster, which finalizes up the bubble spots. Randy Jones cleared waivers so he is in the AHL now.

Flyers open in Carolina on Friday. [expletive] Comcast though...because of those greedy bastards, I will be forced to watch on the internet.

Magic number down to 1. Madson with a 2 inning save.

High school, even though I hated most aspects of it. I miss my friends.

Futler? Really?
-
That was the most miserable time I have ever had at a sporting event.

I never gave up on him either, I have always been willing to give him the chance to start and see how he does.

Brent Celek has been really good. For me, he might be the most pleasant surprise of the season. Well, I shouldn't say "surprise" since I did expect him to be solid, but he has been far and away better than I thought. Also, Desean Jackson continues to amaze me more and more each week.

Jesus Christ....that was nuts.

Brian Boucher with the "lower body injury" in yesterday's game. He will miss 7-10 days. Johan Backlund has been recalled from the Phantoms.

Year You Became a Fan: I have been a Philadelphia sports fan for my entire life, but it took the longest for me to warm up to the Sixers/the NBA in general. So I'd say I started following closely in the early 2000's. Why You Became a Fan: To complete my Philadelphia fan-dom. Favorite 76ers Player, All-Time: Allen Iverson Favorite 76ers Coach, All-Time: Larry Brown Favorite 76ers Moment: I honestly did not follow the 2000-01 team too closely so I don't remember anything specific from that year, but Game 1 against Detroit last year or Game 3 against Orlando this year are probably my favorites. Also Iguodala's shot to beat the Lakers. Amount of 76ers Games Attended: Probably closing in on 40-45ish. Have been going to 10+ per year for the past 2 years, and will this coming year too.

Phew....that game had disaster written all over it. Magic number down to 3. Madson actually looked really good in the 9th. He gave up a double to Fielder but it was not a bad pitch. If he can take hold of the closers role this week, that will be huge heading into October. Matchups for Astros series: Tomorrow: Cole Hamels vs. Yorman Bazardo Tuesday: JA Happ vs. Wilton Lopez Wednesday: Cliff Lee vs. Brian Moehler Thursday: Pedro Martinez vs. Felipe Paulino Sounds like none of these are set in stone though, for either side. Apparently Pedro can pitch in any of these, depending on when he feels good.

Can anybody think of a worse team in our lifetimes? I know they are not quite as bad as the '63 Mets, but it looked for a while like they might give them a run for the money. To make it even more amazing is the fact that they can actually hit. You'd think that they'd have won a few more games just on that, but the pitching and defense is just about as bad as it can be for a Major League team.

Wow...I actually picked this.

It's cool that you prefer soccer, but this post is very ignorant. Also, I cannot believe this thread is still alive and kicking.

Great game all around. Granted, it is the Chiefs so we are supposed to beat them up, but still nice to see them actually do it.
