  1. The Lakers fans are taking Jackson and the Celtics fans are taking Auerbach. Shocking. I agree with Slaven, this is a very difficult comparison to make.
  2. See, this is my biggest problem about OTR. Had a Sixer fan said something similar in a Lakers discussion, we'd be looking at a 2 week ban.
  3. Looks like he may go to the Rangers haha.
  4. He really wasn't, he just had a horrible year last season, and missed almost half of it because of injury. In 07-08 he was a very solid 3rd or 4th defenseman and he was awesome in the playoffs. Most Flyers fans were actually thrilled with the contract he got last offseason. Now that we have Pronger and Tollefsen though, he is our 6th or 7th best defenseman, and it's ridiculous to have somebody that low on the depth chart making the kind of money he is making and taking up all that cap space. I am sure somebody will pick him up in the next week and it would not surprise me at all to see him have a very good year.
  5. The Brewers are playing totally bush league. Corey Hart is the main reason I am saying this actually. Going out of his way to deck Paul Bako last night, stealing 2nd late in a blow out, staring down Cliff Lee after a HBP that was blatantly unintentional. He is really doing his best to look like a dick this series. Also, they are probably worse than the Mets when it comes to stupid celebrations after every play. I would probably despise this team if the Phillies had to play them more than twice a year.
  6. Very clever password, I must say.
  7. Pedro has been scratched from tomorrow's start. Kyle Kendrick to take his place.
  8. Seriously?!?! That is [expletive]ing awesome. There is a big controversy around here about some Flyers games not being available to certain people (way too complicated for me to get into right now), but needless to say that site will come in handy for me. Thanks a lot.
  9. I just heard that Randy Jones is going to be waived at some point this weekend. Sucks to see him go since he's a really cool guy but unfortunately he makes too much money, and a healthy Tollefsen is way better. So it was easy to see this coming.
  10. Also, apparently Charlie has considered using Happ at closer for the postseason. I think it's pretty clear now that one way or the other he will be in the pen for the playoffs, either as a lefty specialist should Romero/Eyre not be healthy, or potentially the closer. If one of Romero/Eyre can prove to be healthy and effective, Happ will not be needed for that role and he could possibly close. I'd say it's a long shot but who knows. They should be willing to try just about anything at this point. Also saw a writer suggest Tyler Walker for the role. I have actually thought he's the best remaining candidate for a long time now. Above average stuff, having a very solid year in a semi-mop up role (opponents hitting .215 against him), and most importantly experience closing (he was the Giants closer for a season). But what the hell, just give somebody new a shot. It can't be Lidge, it can't be Madson, and it remains to be seen whether Myers or Park will be healthy. Those are the 4 obvious "back of the bullpen" candidates, so it is time to try something new.
  11. James van Riemsdyk and Mika Pyorala are both making a strong push to make the opening night roster. Not sure if there is room for both of them, but if I had to guess I am thinking Pyorala may have the upper hand. Last year they went through a similar thing as JVR with Claude Giroux and they wound up starting him in the AHL. They don't typically rush these guys along. Blair Betts has also played well as a fringe 4th line guy but I'm not sure if there will be room for him. Also, Ray Emery has been very strong.
  12. Magic number is at 4 (3 to eliminate Florida). Matchups for rest of Brewers series: Tonight: Cliff Lee vs. Manny Parra Tomorrow: Pedro Martinez vs. Braden Looper Sunday: Joe Blanton vs. Dave Bush
  13. Haha, well it wasn't the best timing then I guess. The picture would have been better if you added in a caption that said "sieg heil" or something. Pretty unfortunate pose for Donovan to get caught in lol.
  14. Yeah that picture just screams "annoying". God forbid a guy getting paid millions to play a game for a living actually smiles on the job from time to time. I am sure he is the only NFL player ever to smile while stretching.
  15. You keep saying that his arguments are off topic because they involve athletes from other sports. They really are not, but it's just convenient for you to say that so you don't have to come up with a legitimate reply. Honestly, I see many parallels between this thread and the many threads OTR has had that started as a simple conversation and resulted in somebody bashing Kobe, and either you or some other Lakers fan defending him. There are far more Lakers fans on OTR than fans of any other team, and 90% of you guys are homers to the highest degree. Similarly, there are far more Eagles fans on OTR than anybody else, and most of us are homers too. These threads all end the same way, regardless of the sport or team.
  16. At this point we just need to get to the ninth inning with a lead and pray for a miracle. Lidge cannot close, Madson cannot close, who knows if Myers, Romero or Park will be healthy.
  17. I actually really like the white ones. Guess I'm on my own here haha.
  18. Apparently Ruiz is back in Philadelphia to get his wrist examined. [expletive]...
  19. Ok, so both jerseys are new. http://images.footballfanatics.com/productImages/_350000/altImages/FF_350851ALT1_xl.jpg http://images.footballfanatics.com/productImages/_381000/altImages/FF_381007ALT1_xl.jpg
  20. Brandon---it's not that you have a problem with McNabb, it's that your logic is flawed. I honestly think you are doing this to get a rise out of us so you can say "oh there goes those homer Philly fans again". I have no problem with people disliking McNabb (and living in an area with an awful lot of NY fans, I get that a lot). But you are reaching very far to find reasons he is annoying. This is the NFL, I think we can find a few slightly more annoying personalities. But like I said earlier, to each their own.
  21. I don't think anybody could say a word about anybody on the Phillies or Sixers. I know ECN has some issues with the Flyers but overall they are good guys too.
  22. To each their own, I guess. I think you are being very nitpicky though. Not about his lack of a title, but about his comments in the media. But it's your opinion I guess.
  23. Eh, I just think that by your logic, there would be a couple far more annoying QBs in the league. Your last line said "win the big one before you act like a badass". If that's the case, I'd think that you'd find somebody like Jay Cutler or Tony Romo far more annoying. Look at the [expletive] storm Cutler kicked up in Denver this past winter...all for a guy with a regular season winning percentage under .500 and 0 postseason wins to his resume. And Romo is in the media more than either of them, but has he even won a game after Thanksgiving? For all the [expletive] McNabb takes about being a choke artist or not being able to "win the big one", he is in the postseason pretty much every year that he stays healthy. I think he has won ten postseason games in his career too. As an Eagles fan, would I have liked the final drive in the Super Bowl a few years ago to end differently? Absolutely. But I think he has more credentials than the large majority of NFL QBs. And he absolutely never talks [expletive] in the media. People pick apart his comments all the time, and I can understand people finding some of the things he has said to be slightly annoying, but I find your logic to be off a bit. Anyway, now I am defending him. :glasses:
  24. I am not defending anybody, I was just curious what made him annoying to you.
  25. Split the double header today. Magic number is down to 5. Tomorrow will be Cole Hamels vs. Rick VandenHurk.
