Cubs Fan Throws Beer at Shane Shane Victorino at Wrigley Field
Phightins replied to The Goods's topic in Baseball Forum
I guess the Cubs are giant [expletive]s too then. They are filing a complaint as well. They probably want the guy found more than Vic does so that they can make sure he never steps into Wrigley again. -

I played saxophone in school beginning in 4th grade. Played in marching band all throughout high school. I am giving it up now that I'm going to college though. I also took piano lessons from age 9 through 17, and drum lessons through middle school and early high school. I played drums in a band with a couple friends, although that never turned into anything serious. I am trying to teach myself guitar to keep myself busy now.

With todays players, that is true. But when comparing players from different eras, not true at all. As I said most players in the past did not lift at all, and look at the stuff today's players do to get in shape. They did not have the ability to do this stuff as recently as 5, 10 years ago. Even if there was no such thing as a "performance enhancing drug", today's players are at a much bigger advantage than players of the previous generations.

Cubs Fan Throws Beer at Shane Shane Victorino at Wrigley Field

Because on our broadcast they zoomed in about 50 times and wouldn't shut up about it for an inning. When it's zoomed in all the way and in slow motion it is really easy to tell. -

It was the skinny dude sitting next to the fat dude they assumed did it at first. -

The whole row actually got kicked out. Initially they arrested the wrong dude, then they figured that out and went back down there and nobody would fess up to doing it, so they made everybody leave (which makes no sense because on the video it was clear as day who threw it). Probably a good thing though...the bleacher bums are all total white trash so I am sure Wrigley was a better place with them all gone. -

You know why we have "earned" this reputation? Because of the idiots like you and the idiots at ESPN. This event just goes to show that there are morons everywhere. Now do me a favor and go watch a game from the bleachers at Wrigley, then compare it to anything you will see at a game in Philadelphia. -

Yeah I'm just as silly as these 2... http://thefeed.blogs.com/photos/uncategorized/wrightreyes_1.jpg http://men.style.com/slideshows/mens/standalone/gq/fashion/1206/mets/00001f.jpg That's a very masculine bunch that you root for fishy. -
Obviously we will never be able to know how players from different era's would fare against one another, but it certainly makes for good conversation.

Lol...if this were a Phillies fan, ESPN would have to run one of their "specials" tonight to remind everybody that we threw snow balls at Santa and booed Michael Irvin. But it's in Chicago, so it will just blow over. Just goes to show that there are idiots everywhere. -
He felt "disappointed and misled" because Amaro assured him during contract negotiations this past offseason that he would remain in the rotation. I really love Jamie and he has always been a class guy but he definitely should not have said that..comes off as very selfish. He is lucky the Phillies regard him so highly or he never would have gotten a multi year contract, and he certainly would have been released by now. I think now that the initial shock has passed him by he is accepting it, and he said he is willing to help the team whereever he can. Unfortunately, I don't see him being too successful in the bullpen either, unless Charlie really does a good job picking his matchups.
-
Hahaha....that's a good picture. I liked Shane's interview after the game, he wasn't mad or anything, he just said "gotta give that guy credit he had perfect timing". Also, Michael Taylor went 5 for 5 and hit for the cycle in triple-A Lehigh Valley. Domonic Brown is playing very well in AA too. Glad we didn't trade those guys.
-
And if I didn't make it clear in that post, I was really really impressed.
-
Pedro consistently got his fastball up to 92-93 (with tons of movement), and his changeup is still nasty. He tried mixing in all of his pitches, and nothing really looked too bad. He got into trouble in the 5th and because of that high pitch count he is now finished. Would have been nice to see him go deeper since the bullpen is kind of thin right now, but I didn't expect more than 5 for his first start. Also, I like how that jackass Cubs fan threw the beer on Shane and they arrested the wrong guy haha. If that would have happened in Philly, ECN would have started another thread about how terrible Philadelphia fans are and the media would have been all over us, but it is in Chicago so it will just get blown over as "an isolated incident".

As a Phillies fan, the Braves scare me a hell of a lot more than Florida does, despite the fact that the Marlins just swept us.

Yeah I'm pretty sure.

Los Angeles Dodgers @ San Francisco Giants

The Giants have been outscored 13-3 so far in this series. -
I disagree about him trying to hit Youkilis.
-
Eh, maybe a fine because he clearly threw at Martinez to brush him back off the plate, but that [expletive] happens in literally every MLB game once or twice. Only reason he got suspended is because Youk lost his cool and charged the mound.
-
An absolute joke that Porcello was suspended IMO.
-
Probably the truth, but could you also imagine how good Babe Ruth would have been had he had a modern trainer to get him into decent shape? Same goes for a lot of guys of that era.
-
That is a good point. I have always enjoyed wondering how Babe Ruth would fare against late 90s Pedro Martinez, or how Joe DiMaggio would do against Randy Johnson. Always fun to compare era's.
-
And Mike Schmidt said he "never used steroids, but had he played in the late 90s he would have been tempted". I am not sure if you are just trying to get a stir out of me or if you are just plain ignorant, but either way you got your facts wrong. Try again.

What argument? Am I arguing anything? Read the post again (I should say read the post for the first time, since I know you probably just picked and chose a few lines to read on your first glance through it). I am pointing out that todays players have a distinct advantage over players of previous eras. It is a legal advantage, but it is nonetheless an advantage. That is why I am sick of the clueless media blaming inflated numbers on steroids.
