  1. The reason the Phillies are slower to pull the trigger than most teams is because they built a world championship on drafting building from within. Obviously, they are under different circumstances than they were 4-5 years ago so it's not quite the same situation (and I am with you, I want Halladay here at all costs), but I do understand why they are thinking it over. Anybody remember the rumored Ryan Howard and Cole Hamels for Kip Wells trade that Ed Wade almost pulled off back in 03 or 04?
  2. It would be nice as hell... If it happens I am buying tickets to his first start at home...
  3. The exact same thing happened at Shea last year....
  4. Right, except a "worse" offer is not going to get it done in this case. If you are going to call somebody dumb, please proofread, at least.
  5. That jackass shining the laser into the Cardinals's batters eyes today has managed to yet again get Philadelphia fans onto SportsCenter in a negative light. So congrats, you dumb [expletive]. This gives Philly haters something else to get on us for.
  6. What are you talking about? Sounds absolutely nothing like that. I don't think the Blue Jays will [expletive] this up like the Twins did.
  7. I can think of 27 or 28 teams out there who would die for this "pathetic" offense. Days like this happen, baseball is a funny game. And despite how "pathetic" they have been, the game is still tied. Wow....cannot believe I just stood up for the Yankees. Apocalypse must be coming.
  8. Lol, there's a reason Gio has been regarded as one of the better pitching prospects in the country over the past couple years. The kid can pitch, despite how much he has struggled this year.
  9. The Phillies have some leverage, so I think they are just trying to get the Jays to lower the offer a bit. Since nobody else seems to be even close to meeting their demands, the Phillies realize that they can wait it out a bit and see if the Jays consider taking a little less. Also, the Jays probably don't care if they hold onto him. His value is at it's all time highest right now, so they'd be better off trading him now for sure, but if they wait til the offseason they will still be able to bring in a nice haul for him. Remember he isn't a free agent until after next season.
  10. Relax...doesn't mean a deal won't get done, just means they are not going to give both Happ and Drabek, which I think everybody (including Toronto) has known all along. Even considering that, we are still by far the best match. Doesn't look like too many teams want to even come close to what it will take to get Doc. I heard the Angels are more interested now, but I still don't see them giving up Wood+++, which is what it would take from them. I still feel confident that the Phillies will get something done. Personally I would do it at all costs, but I see where Amaro is coming from here. If he could get them to substitute Carlos Carrasco and maybe one other mid level prospect for either Happ or Drabek, I think the Phillies pull the trigger.
  11. Awesome.....Clay Condrey has been placed on the disabled list. Make that three vital pieces to the bullpen placed on the DL in three days. Steven Register has been called up from Lehigh Valley to take his place. He has been getting the job done in AAA, but is nothing spectacular. He is probably the last option out of the bullpen now so it probably isn't a big deal anyway. In other news, they realized that Andrew Carpenter needs to be in AAA getting starts as opposed to staying up here and getting shelled out of the bullpen. Kyle Kendrick has been called up to take his spot, although he doesn't strike me as the bullpen type either.
  12. Really weird, but the inside of the Wachovia Center. Really unique scent and I love it lol. Maybe the other Philly guys know what I am talking about...
  13. Steal by the Cardinals? They must have really wanted Holliday because Billy Beane just played them big time.
  14. They have seven runs with only two hard hit balls all night. Not taking anything away from them, since they are putting the ball in play and getting lucky, but it is just one of those nights for the Phillies.
  15. Well, define blockbuster. I'd say the Holliday trade was pretty big. Also I expect Roy Halladay and Cliff Lee to be moved by the deadline. There will be plenty of other moves as well.
  16. They are there now, since he is pitching right now. He has gotten rocked so far.
  17. The Blue Jays have asked for Kyle Drabek, JA Happ, and Dominic Brown apparently. If this is true, we better be getting Marco Scutaro and/or Jason Frasor along with Doc.
  18. Is there any non-Sixer that doesn't get booed by you? But seriously, is there any possibility of a sign and trade still? I haven't been paying much attention.
  19. Just look at the drop off though. I mean I know the man is a good hitter and has put together a good couple of weeks, but he is not the great hitter we all assumed he was during those Colorado years. Still a dangerous bat, don't get me wrong, but he was a superstar at Coors.
  20. I was hoping this would wait until after this weekend's series, but whatever, this would have been a bigger deal at the trade deadline last year. Although he has been hitting better as of late, it has clearly been proven this year that he is a product of Coors Field.
  21. He actually started this thread a split second before I started mine I think lol.
  22. This is like saying that LeBron James's game winning 3 against Orlando was no more special than any other 3 point shot he has made. You are right, technically it is the same difficulty level as any other 3, but it is all in the situation...
