There has been no deal yet... He is going to throw for the Phillies front office again tomorrow afternoon, then they will make a decision. And if this does happen, you could probably forget about Halladay.
-
I wonder if Charlie is going to take Werth to fill Beltran's spot now... It will be him or Kemp I think, and Charlie will definitely be a bit partial to his own guy.
-
Where did you see the Jays were "considering" that? And if you think that is anywhere close to the most the Phillies could offer you'd be mistaken.
-
Paging trutrojan.....news flash.....Manny has had the same "attitude" for the past decade.....
-
Guys throw their equipment all the time after strikeouts. The umpire is allowed to fine him for that, but ejecting him was borderline ridiculous.
-
I have a feeling he won't go anywhere, but it's probably not too hard to figure out where I want him to go...
-
Koivu to Anaheim...
-
The hit during the first few years is a lot bigger than in the last couple, I know that much. Don't know the exact numbers.
-
Also we are apparently interested in Brendan Shanahan. I would not mind taking a flyer on him (no pun intended) depending on how much money he is looking for.
-
I am sure he will listen, but man, I have a hard time believing he is going to want his team to face Halladay 5 or 6 times next year.
-
I think that is the one thing working in the Phillies favor. Boston could definitely offer more than us in terms of MLB ready talent, and the Yankees probably as well, but I don't know if Ricciardi would hesitate to deal him within the AL East. All of the Phillies top prospects are a year or two away, so I don't know if that will hurt us or not.
-
Hahahah, at the exact same time I made a post in the Phillies thread about Halladay. Pretty funny.
-
So, rumor has it that the Phillies are the early favorites in the Roy Halladay sweepstakes. I do not want to get my hopes up since I do have a feeling that in the end Toronto will hold onto him, but if you think about it, the Phillies do make a lot of sense. In the past two years, our farm system has grown immensely, and I really don't think Amaro would hold anything back if it meant getting Roy Halladay. Any trade would probably have to start with either Michael Taylor/Dominic Brown and Kyle Drabek, and build from there. Lou Marson or Jason Donald would probably have to be involved as well, and probably some guys with high ceilings who are a little farther away (maybe Yohan Flande or someone like that). Also, Toronto may not want to deal Halladay within their division, which could also help our cause. Probably just dreaming here, but the thought of a rotation headed by Roy Halladay and Cole Hamels is pretty awesome.

Why yes he did.... Completely forgot to post.

All fans of NL team better hope to God that the Giants do not make the playoffs. Regardless of what you think of their offense, getting them in the first round short series could be deadly, when in 3 of the 5 games you will have to face either Lincecum or Cain.
-
I like how he has a stretch of a few bad games, which inflates his ERA a good bit, and now all of a sudden he is just a "borderline ace". Not just you, but all over the media and [expletive].
-
Lincecum has never pitched a postseason game, or even a "big" regular season game for that matter, so yeah that argument doesn't really work. It might hold some water if Lincecum chokes in big games this September, which it's looking like he will finally have. Obviously not taking anything away from Cole, but Lincecum is just one of (if not the) nastiest pitchers in the game. He has four disgusting pitches that he is willing to throw in any count. Using wins and strikeout total isn't really fair to Lincecum either since he came into the league a year later.

-
Obviously I love Hamels, and will be forever grateful for the World [expletive]ing Championship that he brought to our city last year. But this is a no brainer. Tim Lincecum without a doubt.

Hill should be starting IMO. Or Zobrist.
-
And for the record, Kinsler has more homeruns than Bay. RBIs are not close, but Kinsler is also the leadoff hitter for his team, unlike Bay who hits in the middle of arguably the best lineup in the MLB. Not saying one should be an all star and the other shouln't, but I do want to know what makes your slump excuse alright for Bay and not Kinsler.
-
Just to clarify....the slump excuse works for Bay but not Kinsler? Kinsler got off to as good a start as any 2B in the league, but due to a slump his average is now middle of the road. Same deal as Bay, no?
-
There is a good chance Shane will go anyway, since Beltran will not play. I hope both he and Sandoval wind up on the roster, to be honest. It will probably happen.
